Conveniently located off the interstate, this location has plenty of parking stalls and offers a drive-thru. Park to the right upon entering and the restrooms are located on that side of the building. Sat at the drive in screens for over 30 minutes. I pressed the button for service, it said someone would be with me soon. I waited for forever even though they weren't busy, until the screen went back to the Home Screen, pressed the button again and then was instantly answered with a "please come around to the drive thru thanks." The whole point of going to the drive in was to be served in the drive in. Stopped here twice over a weekend trip out to Western Maryland. The only bad thing was that this was a planned rest stop and the restrooms are closed due to Covid. Not a huge problem, we just stopped out at the Outlets nearby. Always love tots and slush. On the way back, the line was out to the turn lane of the main road. I don't know why people insisted on waiting for the drivethru. We pulled into a carhop slot the minute we could get past the line for the drivethru. We watched the car that was ahead and behind us and kept watch. They were still easily 2-3 cars away from the ordering, not to mention having to wait for their food by the time we left. Ignore all the nay sayers. We had one of the best Sonic experiences in memory. It isn't often you will see me write a review for a fast food chain unless they did something absolutely terrible or something incredible. In this sense, they were great!! the carhop was conversational, but no overkill. Friendly yet to the point. He told us how riding on skates was encouraged and he was an avid skate. The food was good as usual. I love Sonic, but there have been times when stuff wasn't great. Bathroom was clean and we got our order in a timely manner. read more

It's amazing you can place an order and be charge twice for it. Contacting the manager is at the Hagerstown location on Rt. 40 is almost impossible to talk to her (Noelle). Visited July 27, 2020 and explained that I had been charged 2x for 1 order on my Visa card. We had been there bet. 8-9 pm on a Friday evening. I even pushed the call button to make sure we were only charged for 1 order. The kid verified that is was just 1 order with my first name. My bank account showed 2 charges. I called 3xs to ask to speak to the manager explaining the issue. Gave detailed explanation along with my phone# for her to call me. Here it is 9 days later and no phone call. We we're so excited to find a Sonic on our trip. However, while making our order, Chicken Tender Dinner, said Tots or Onion Rings. We ordered the onion rings and we're told no substitutes. We looked at the board and we clearly saw onion rings with the meal. Then they said the manager had changed the policy. Onion Rings we're no longer an option for the meal, even though they were still on the menu board. We we're very disappointed and left without purchasing anything. We ordered the popcorn chicken combo and the chicken tender combo. Both were great we love the tots here. Lemonade is another favorite and never disappoints. It's supposed to be the real thing and taste like it. Car hop was friendly and courteous. The wait wasn't long given the fact that it was extremely busy. The car next to me was being extremely rude to their car hop. There's just no call to be cussing out young kids over one mistake. We're in the middle of a pandemic and these kids are doing the best they can. I've heard around town that a lot of fast food restaurants are having trouble keeping employees because crazy cooped up Covid customers are just making the situation unbearable. My fiancé and I have been here several times (shame on us maybe for giving them chance after chance) and every time is worse than the last. Last night was our first visit, we had a coupon we wanted to use. When we pulled up we pushed the button and were greeted right away and asked if we could get any sonic burger for the buy one get one coupon and she said yes. (the coupon said you just paid for the one that was equal or greater value) Then halfway through our order they switched people and we had to start over and she said we could only get the single. So we just got two of those and some jalapeno bites. The burgers were very thin and the bites were not hot at all. The whole drive in idea is OK. But you don't get any refills on drinks and I'm not sure what you do if you need condiments.We will not be going back again. read more

Manager completely useless when I called asking if they could bring the 4 slushees out I could see sitting on the station directly inside the door. People need to re-think some reviews and start thanking some lucky stars that there even is a Sonic in their area! Some people are not so lucky.... I stumbled across this Sonic by accident and I really think this couldn't be a more dangerous situation but I am so happy about it! We were heading back from the Smithsburg/Hagerstown area to Frederick and WHAT!?!??!!? a Sonic!!!!!! Yes. A Sonic. Ahhhmazing! It totally negated everything I thought was true and had known. Prior to this little discovery I thought our closest Sonic was the eastern shore or when I made road trips down south! This is quite the little gem. First off Sonic's menu is so extensive and blows away all other fast food restaurants. Plus, you can get breakfast anytime of day. It was a shame that we were so full when we found it that all I could manage to order was a milkshake, but spoiler alert....you can add bacon to your milkshake. Wonderful. Where to begin? This place is a MESS. Went here this evening with friends and got 4 meals- the girl over the intercom couldn't make coherent sentences and seemed to be hard of hearing. When we got to the window we received 2 out of the 12 things we ordered. When we told her that our order was wrong she was very snippy and condescending. We were nothing but polite with her. when she finally came back with our food it was all the wrong things and they were freezing cold. We told her what we needed and how much of it we needed for the last time, and she came back with more freezing cold and rockhard food. The burger buns fell apart and were cold, the fries were unsalted and cold and the popcorn chicken was just deep fried bread balls.
