There are three reasons to visit Sonic: Limeades, Slushies, and Tots. That's it. The food is bland. There is no roller skating car hop service anymore. You basically pull into a parking stall and press a call button. They do have happy hour and nighttime specials on their drinks so find out when those are available and enjoy your sugary treat. My daughter and I stopped by on a weekday afternoon and had no wait at all. However, if you visit when it's hot or during weekend hours i.e. Friday nights and weekends, you will wait. On a two and a half hour drive, we decided to stop at sonic for a QUICK fast food experience... ended up waiting over an hour. We wouldn't have gotten our food for another hour if we didn't ask for our money back. Food that should have been cold was hot, food that should have been hot was cold. Arrived today roughly around 8:30pm and it states their open until midnight. On arrival the door leading to the restrooms was open and all the lights were on inside but no employees in sight. We parked at a speaker and pressed the red button to order but after 5 minutes, nothing. We circled around to check if we seen anyone working before proceeding to drive thru but nothing. Someone was obviously there but most likely hiding to avoid working, and it worked. I can honestly say that the chocolate banana shake is a must have here. They have a wide variety of drinks, slushes, and shakes. I've had the strawberry cheesecake shake, mango sweet tea, strawberry sweet tea, strawberry sprite, mango slush, and strawberry slush and I recommend every single one. I'm not a big fan of the food there I've had it a couple times and didn't really like it. My rating is solely one the drinks because that is the only reason I go. Do not go to this sonic, you will be served RAW food. I contacted customer service and I still have not received a refund/call from the store manager since JANUARY 2023. I went to speak to the manager but the store manager was on an injury leave for another month. The guy who spoke to me at the stall claimed he was a manager but he couldn't do any refunds past 24 hours. He said that his manager didn't inform him of the situation therefore he can't refund me because it's past 24 hours and he doesn't have authority. That makes no sense at all. I'll keep this review short and sweet: If you're looking for the classic Sonic slush or limeade, or whatever, this is the place to get it. It's pretty easy to find, and is relatively convenient for anyone coming from Fremont, Union City, or Hayward. There are quite a few stalls, but you can also use the drive through if you'd like. I don't really have any complaints -- this is your run of the mill Sonic. Whenever I've wanted to visit Sonic, it's for the happy hour slushies, but that's about it. I like this place for a few reasons: 1. They have cheap, good food 2. They have non alcohol happy hour 3. They are open late plus have the car hops Sonic kind of reminds me of those old school burger joints with car hops and also resembles Bob's Big Boys original restaurant in Burbank. Anywho. I like the experience of ordering your food at a speaker and seeing the car hops skate to your car with your food, it's entertaining. Most of the food is good, I love their chili cheese coney dogs, chili cheese tots and some of their breakfast toaster sandwiches. They have some of the best milkshakes around, almost 25 different varieties I think and you can't forget about their famous limeades. I have yet to find a place that can make a cherry limeade better than them. The food here is very cheap and affordable and they also have a value menu if you are really low on money. They offer the whole menu including breakfast from open until close. They have happy hour for drinks from 2-4pm and a promotion they have had for the summer is half price shakes after 8pm. There aren't too many Sonic locations around so when you do see one it is worth a try, if not for the food then at least the drinks. read more

Parked in the stall I had to press the red button a total of 3 times just to finally get my order which did not include a kids meal toy or any sauce for the popcorn chicken. I went to Sonic twice in the past month, both occasions they have failed to provide service. They made changes or modifications to their store's format without any prior announcements or notifications to the customers, causing confusion and chaos with customers leaving frustrated and angry. To the store manager who work on June 2nd, if you knew you were closing earlier than your usual business hour, it is not only an important customer service element, but a common human decency to let customers know prior to them getting in line instead of allowing all these customers waiting for an hour only to be refused services when they reach the ordering window. I understand this is a difficult time for everyone, but there is still a right way to do business, and this isn't one if them. I will not be returning to Sonic, and I will discourage other from doing so as well. read more

Why... Why must the nearest Sonic's be all the way in Hayward.... I love Sonic's. While not everything on their menu is impressive, their workers alone are just wonderful. I came here one night with my cousins and brother after going to Six Flags and not to point fingers at anybody, but the driver of the car *coughmybrothercough* left the headlights on along with the radio for over 30 minutes. And with no jumper cables we had resort to asking those around us. 8 different cars later and none with jumper cables, we were dead.
