If I could give negative stars I would. The first visit to Sonic was just after it opened and it was packed. The waiter was decent and the food was mediocre. 1 month later we went back, on a date night again, trying to squeeze in a quick meal after our play before picking up the kiddo from the babysitter. We pulled up to the parking order booth at 945 and pushed the button. We waited about 5 minutes and pushed the button again. No one ever showed up. We then pulled around to the drive thru and waited. Again no one ever asked for our order. We then parked so I could go inside and order. There was no one at the counter and I had to knock on the kitchen door to get someone to come to the counter to take my order. They told me the dining room closed at 10 and I would need to go thru the drive thru or park at an outside booth. After explaining that we had already done both they allowed me to order inside. I waited 30 MORE minutes for two burgers and fries and 2 Cokes, which I had to remind them about. At this point the families in the dining room were mad on my behalf. When I finally got my food the fries were cold and the burgers over cooked. I brought the fries back inside, because who wants to eat hard fries that taste like they were cooked hours ago? I told the "manager" that I wanted my money back and he told me he was making me some new large fries. When I got back to the car my husband was not happy that they did not reimburse me. He pulled into the drive thru again, we've now been at sonic for over an hour and are still hungry. The same guy who acted as a manager asked my husband what was wrong. He told him our story, of which he was fully aware. He agreed that it was completely unacceptable service and to pull forward to the window. When we got to the window, the actual manager said she couldn't give us our money back. My husband said, yes you're giving us our money back for this terrible food and terrible service. She responded, I'm sorry I cannot reimburse you since you still have the food. Shocked, we put all of the food back into the bag and handed it to her. She then asked for the Cokes back as well!!! We gladly gave them to her incredulous at her request. As she took the food from us, she said "ya, enjoy your food on a full refund...psh". This was the actual manager! She never apologized for the terrible service. She never even came back to the window, instead she sent an employee to tell us that we were reimbursed. I had to ask for a receipt. We drove away angry and hungry and went to Wendy's where the food was fresh and hot and they apologized for the 3 minute wait. Don't waste your time going to Sonic. In today's economy, $17 for a burger and fries is not cheap. Go to Red Robin for a great burger instead. read more

Wish I could rate it higher. We came here bc we happened to be in Latham and we had both been wanting to try sonic for a while. It looked pretty busy from the outside but there wasn't a line, which was nice. The woman who took my order wasn't very polite and didn't seem to know what she was doing. I asked for popcorn chicken, just the chicken, and she asked me if I wanted fries or tots with it. I repeated that I just wanted the chicken and she rolled her eyes and had to call someone over to help her. I don't think she was a normal order taker as she had a hairnet on, so I assume she was kitchen staff. When I ordered I was under the impression that there was a soda fountain in the lobby (I just assumed this) so I ordered a medium cup, and instead of asking me what kind of soda I wanted she just rolled her eyes again and rang in a regular coke. The wait wasn't long, but while we were waiting a few other customers had problems with their orders and had to be brought back to the counter. The food runner was very nice and friendly and gave us an extra order of onion rings that we didn't order. The food was very good. A little pricey, but what are you gonna do. The shake my boyfriend ordered was so thicc we couldn't get it through the straw, but it was still really good. The bathroom was clean, which was nice, but overall it wasn't really worth it. If I were, say, in Philadelphia, I wouldn't write home about it. read more

Went last night for a cheese and bacon dog on a pretzel roll. Got the dog wrong twice before telling me that they were out of pretzel rolls. Offered nothing except a bad attitude. When I simply asked for a refund they credited me a little over a dollar and gave me a hard time, lying to me multiple times before providing me a correct receipt. Run to DQ instead. They have got to be better than this place. Of the five times I have been there they have gotten the order wrong four of them. read more

I was disappointed with how they treated us . There were eight employees hanging out in the kitchen through the drive-through window doing absolutely nothing. My experience was terrible. The man taking my order at the drive thru was extremely rude. we ordered 2 combo boxes with onion rings, french toast,chicken tenders and tater tots and it was all dry. There was one small dried up piece of toast and one onion ring in both boxes and i asked for a side of cheese with the nuggets which i was charged for but didn't get. Worst service ever. I work across the road and only get a half hour for lunch and have gone to sonic a few times and EVERY time I go through the drive-threw it takes a good 20/25 minutes. Went in to try the chicken promo they had going on. Must say the customer service and overall appeal was bad. The woman taking my order needed better training; I waited in line for nearly 10 minutes while she yelled out for a coworker to help. In addition, I specifically asked for no lettuce and guess what? We pull into a stall at 10:15, and are told the stalls close at 10 ok no big deal we just go through the drive through. As we pull up to order we sit at the screen for 3-4 minutes until someone even acknowledges us, and when they do they sound like they do not want to be working. We place our order and get our food... and just to clarify, I know this is fast food not a five star meal. The buns on all of the sandwiches were hard...like knock on them and they sound like a wooden door hard, the onion rings were cold and tasted like funnel cake(?), my fiancées 6 piece boneless wings only had 5 pieces and were cold. Poor service and food. Silly me wanted breakfast, it was 9am, they aren't open until 10, most people are already at work, 10 am is not breakfast time, most of the morning is over. Went that night on the way home, waiting in the cap hop section, pushed the button several times, no one answered. I should of left then. Went thru drive thru,, waiting about 15 mins for just a bacon slider and pretzel. They gave me the wrong slider,, order 2 items and got 1 right. Been to the Sonic 5 times so far, and almost every time has been met with slow, poor service. To start off with, I drive by the place all the time, and have only stopped in at off times, when there was no line going out of the parking lot. The most attracting thing to me are the shakes and slushes, which I admit are pretty good. The food is not that good at all, when compared to other fast food places around. The drinks are the ONLY reason why I may go there. To sum up my experiences so far with the service: Trip 1) Ordered inside: Burger + slush, missing patty on burger Trip 2) Drive thru: Crossiant dog + shake, waited 40 min even though there were only 3 cars in front of me. Workers looked like they were just chilling by the window, had 3 separate people go to the window and confirm my order and ask for money, got normal hot dog by mistake Trip 3) Ordered inside: slush - forgot candies Trip 4) Ordered inside: no issues Trip 5) Planned to order a shake inside: only one person in line, no one at the front counter, waited 15 min and someone came out saying it was going to take another 20 min to make the shake for someone who had already ordered so I gave up. That's 4 out of 5 times that you have screwed something so simple up. Which is why I've pretty much given up coming here. My husband and I went there for the first AND LAST time. The foot long hot dog seemed like it was steamed instead of grilled. The saurkraut was tough and tasteless, and fries weren't crisp and also tasteless. They have signs on the tables that tipping is encouraged. I'm from Long Island, so they don't really have a lot of these around. So I guess my opinion might be a little biased. I really like this Sonic, it has really quick service. The wings are amazing, more like glazed chicken nuggets. As for ice cream, the snickers waffle cone is the best on the menu for about $2.50?? It seems like every time I go here, they mess up my order, but this time really takes the cake. Today, I asked for a strawberry pucker master blast shake. I was given a pineapple one. I asked for the correct dessert, and it seemed like I got it corrected. I drive off to eat it, and at first it's fine. But there are pineapples all at the bottom of the shake. This leads me to suspect that the person making is just dumped out some of the ice cream and poured more on top. NASTY. read more

I waited 20+ minutes for a chicken sandwich, popcorn chicken and two drinks. Other people seated near me had issues with their orders being wrong. When I complained about the wait (if I had not complained I would still be there waiting!) I was kept waiting another 5 minutes and then merely told a simple "I apologize" in response to my expression of frustration (and not before!). Went there Saturday for my first and last time. I had 2 free meals coming that were sent to me that came in an envelope. They wouldn't take their own coupons. Than she says like an idiot "do you have the envelope they came in? Who the hell keeps envelopes. So she wouldn't take them. I take out an envelope from my pocket and she sarcastically says "Do you have a stack of them"? How rude. Now the line is really backed up almost out the door. So my wife goes outside and I have a receipt for a free soda and a Sonic coupon for a free burger and ask her to ring them up. She says I can't use them on the same order. I told her to split the orders and she says they can't because they can't put them the same receipt. So I tell her one is for my wife. She says she's not here. I tell her she was for the last 10 minutes while you were changing everything. So I said do you want me to get her? She's saving a table. Than in her squeaky aggravating voice she says "Sorry sir you can't use this coupon because it's valid for 30 days and someone forgot to put the start date on it. Told her to cancel the whole order and walked out. I love sonic but I will never go to this place again. Don't use a coupon from their company because they won't take it. It's just a fast food place so food is what you expect. But this place can't even get their menu prices right. I ordered three items and was charged more than the price on the menu for two of them. When I ask about being charged too much, the server says " oh I know the menu is wrong. A lot of people complain about it. I don't know when they will fix it." Thanks for nothing! Staff at this location are generally incapable of properly taking orders. If you ask for a menu item in a specific way there's a strong chance you won't get it how you ordered, let alone get something remotely close to what you ordered. Lines are extremely long at the drive through during evening hours, and it's not uncommon to wait upwards of 10 minutes to just place your order. There is clearly a lot of confusion and lack of organization at this location. In terms of the food itself, the shakes are great and you can't go wrong with them, although sometimes they are in such a rush to get it made that it's barely blended (i.e. oreo shake with nearly entire chunks of oreo stuck in the bottom) Burgers and chicken sandwiches are ok but incredibly greasy and mine tasted like it had been sitting on a hot plate for a while.
