I came in to the first stall on the right as soon as you pull in. There were only 2 other cars in the stalls, and 1 car in drive thru. I waited 9 minutes with the red light blinking on the menu/screen. When someone finally answered, it was a girl who was laughing and couldn't even greet me correctly. I could see into the sonic and she was laughing with her coworkers while trying to talk to me. I don't get what's so funny about making people wait nearly 10 minutes just to order. So two years ago when we moved here, this Sonic was not very good. But in the last several months I don't know if they've got a new manager, a new crew or what but the food has been excellent and the service has been wonderful. My cheeseburger tonight was easily in my top 10 fast-food cheeseburgers. And the girls were all smiles as they served it up - even after they had to troubleshoot the app payment glitch. STAY AWAY! This Sonic is downright AWFUL! I don't even know where to start. I've given them multiple chances. Sometimes I just want a drink, and I've waited 10+ minutes for a cherry limeade on at least 2 occasions, while being the ONLY person there. One time they completely forgot I had ordered, and I had to get out of the car at the drive threw, and knock on the door to try to find an employee. I pulled into their drive through around 8:50. There was only two cars between us and where you order. After waiting over 10 minutes I finally get up to where you order and was told "sorry we are closed". It was 9:02 and their drive through open sign was still out. The 5 cars ahead of me that waited were being served but the lady told me that even though I was in line waiting before their closing time, since it was two minutes after 9 I would not be able to order. I was so excited to learn there was a Sonic in Lewiston when moving here from Texas but I was sadly disappointed. The burgers are so much smaller than other locations, the tots just are not good (when they remember to give them to you instead of the limp fries), they hardly put any chili on their coneys, their slushies are watery and my last visit on 1.00 hot dog day, after my kids begged for a cheap dog, I left with food poisoning, I got a different kind of dog. I grew up in Texas enjoying the Sonic brand and when a Sonic opened in Lewiston, Id, close to where I live now my family and I were very excited. The first few weeks we drove the 30 miles down to Lewiston to enjoy what seemed to be a very nice restaurant. That has turned into an exercise in frustration. It has become, without a doubt, the worst franchise shop I've ever seen. There are no set hours, the business seems to close whenever it wants. As I mentioned we sometimes drive the 30 miles only to find the store closing sometimes as early as 8:30pm. The employees are sometimes non-existent, one or two working the rush hour. If you read the Yelp, Facebook comments, or any online comment you will see this is an everyday occurrence. This franchise is giving a good brand a bad name in our area. Not only are the hours of operation a roll of the dice, so is the menu. On many occasions they run out of some of the menu items. Many years ago, more than I care to admit, I worked in fast food during high school. It was a Texas-based business called Whataburger. Some employees would not want to cook something and would tell customers they were out of said item or the shake machine was down, something along those lines. Those employees were quickly fired. At this Lewiston Sonic is the normal procedure to tell customers that they are "out of something" or "the machine is down or being cleaned". It's very common 30 to 45 minutes before closing. When they did post the closing time of 11pm, it has since been removed, they would start closing at 10pm. After 10:15 or 10:30 they would tell you they were closed when the closing time was 11pm. Understand the frustration for a family who just drove 30 miles. I used to recommend the Lewiston Sonic to all of the people and students at Washington State University and the University of Idaho. Not any more. I can't, in good faith, send people 30 miles "down the grade" to an establishment who may not be open, who may be "out of food", "who may be cleaning the shake machine". Great place to eat when they first opened up but over the years as the great managers have quit and the owners are not in town as much it has sort of gone downhill from there. Shoot just read the comments/reviews on their facebook page and judge for yourselves. If they would vet who they hire better, and train them better maybe this place would be more enjoyable to eat at. Usually all I do is get a water or a drink and attend meetings in their meeting room and you can't beat the price free and call in for reservations to see what dates you can get it. Otherwise I don't usually eat here even when they have freebies. And I used to really enjoy the place when it first opened too despite all the hardships that they faced. If they clean house from the top down and fix it maybe it will improve thus the lower star rating. They are lucky that the health inspectors haven't shown up and shown some of these slackers i.e. mostly teens and young adults the door. read more

We went to Sonic on one of their 1/2 price shake days. We chose to go through the drive-thru. There were a few cars in front of us, but only two between us and the ordering board. It took quite 9 minutes to move up to cars to place our order. We assumed somebody had a huge order in front of us. We decided we could wait. After ordering 2 shakes, we waited for the extremely slow line. Once we moved up 1 position, we could see that there were large orders coming out the window. Finally, we did get to the window. The girl taking orders was apologetic. I could see inside where the shakes were being made. It looked like nobody had time to clean up from the last 10 milkshakes. She apologized again, saying that the girl making the milkshakes was very slow. No kidding. When we pulled away from the window, it had been 32 minutes in line. How about a second chance? Friday 8/28 we tried it again. There was 1 car at the window and nobody else in line when we pulled up to the drive thru order board. We waited 2 minutes and nobody asked to take our order. I pulled around the building and there was an employee crossing the lot. I explained my situation and she said "well, I'm off duty." Terrible, terrible service.
