Imua Mix Plate- 2 item - Teri beef, spicy ahi

Stopped in Imua Hawaiian Style when I came to Lewiston for work last couple times. Wow this place feels like and tastes like home. Junior and his 'Ohana really take care and their food - from the shoyu chicken, Teri beef, musubis and poke are so good - I genuinely feel like I'm back in the Islands. I'm an O'ahu boy but Maui stand up cuz these guys are Nō Ka 'Oi! Mahalo you guys and IMUA!

Alright, I will be the first to let you know I was VERY surprised to find a Hawaiian restaurant in Lewiston, ID. VERY SURPRISED and a little apprehensive... BUT I was absolutely wrong! Honestly, I was expecting a "haolefied" style of Hawaiian food. But the restaurant exudes Hawaiian hospitality with the Aloha spirit! The owner, Junior, is a true home-grown Hawaiian-born local, he wecomes you like you are dining in his home. It is located on Main street in downtown Lewiston, so street parking is what you have and it's pretty easy to find. You do place your order at the register, find a spot to sit and enjoy the island grooves playing. I ordered the Imua mix plate with Kalua pork and Shoyu chicken, which also comes with 2 scoops of rice and mac salad - a typical plate lunch. I have to say the Kalua pork was legit! But I gravitated to the Shoyu chicken, it was fall of the bone tender!!! I look forward to the next time my work travels take me here so I can try more ono grub!

So happy I found this place via Yelp. Since I was visiting customers in the area and wanted rice I was glad. I really like a good Loco Moco so I went with this option. The hamburger was made fresh, the rice was cooked perfectly, the gravy was tasty, and the macaroni salad was really good.

    Owner is from Maui.

My family and I was feeling hungry late afternoon and I didn't want no more burgers, fries, or pasta. I Yelped for food places in the area and came across this here. After reading reviews I wanted to check out the place. When I walked in and saw who is behind the scene (someone from Maui - see the chain of islands on the wall and Maui is highlighted) the food was going to be of that back home. To my surprise it was better than what we get back in Hawaii. The service was great. The owner?? Was friendly and nice. The ambiance was welcoming. Again, the food was absolutely great. We all enjoyed our meals and are planning to return once more before leaving Lewiston, ID.

This place is top notch! The food, the atmosphere, the customer service. Everything here is amazing!! It's all very fresh. If you are lucky enough to get Junior or Sienna, you know you'll be taken care of! Thanks for helping us cool down with shave ice that brought back great memories! And those volcano fries... YUM! We'll be back for sure!

I have been hearing this is the place to be if you want Hawaiian food! I gotta say, it did not disappoint! Now one thing I'll say is there was a bit of confusion on how to get into the restaurant since the door next to it looked like a door to another store but it's the door to many stores inside! Love the decorations in the restaurant, and the owner greeted me with a smile! I was able to order a loco moco and a mini katsu with a side of spam masubi with and egg. Everything was scrumptious, the potato macaroni salad was a little too dill or celery heavy in taste for my liking but was still good. My favorite item out of all the food I got was the masubi, I used to hate spam and as I got older, I now have such a different appreciation for it. One other thing that doesn't relate to the food is while I was there, I watched the owner greet a customer who came in lookin for a job. He told the guy it was his lucky day and that he would hire him to start first thing in the morning! Love the support he is willing to give to the people in the community. If you are in the area, please come show support and taste the yummy food he has to offer! Wish it was open later so you got to get there by 5 PM!

To get here, look for the Pi-Nee-Waus community center sign. Ignore the moana sign pointing around the corner. Go into the main doors of the community center and then to the right. " yeah but it's a 25 minute wait" Tried to order loco loco. Again in a discouraging voice... " We don't have that today" I asked him off it was because that was didn't have any eggs. He replied that they didn't have eggs or gravy. Basically half the ingredients. Why even offer it? Got the food ... a really dried up single piece of thigh with no sauce on it. The noodles (which are super cheap to make) was about a 6 ounce portion with no veggies or meat. Not even cabbage which is cheap. The Mac salad was disgusting. Made with the cheapest macaroni noodles you can buy. They tasted like paste! Also not an authentic Hawaiian Mac salad. The noodles were in fact light other reviewers have mentioned... a SALT BOMB! The potato salad was good, but it was German style heavy on the mustard as opposed to Hawaiian style which should be heavy on mayo and have egg. The rice was really really good. The staff person seemed like he'd rather be anywhere but there. Zero for customer service.

I'm from California, so some things in Washington and Idaho are new to me. Like for instance, our server handing us water bottles instead of cups of water. Turns out I guess Moscow is known for having issues with water. Our miso soup had no additives. No tofu, or seaweed. Just broth. Our sushi chef also forgot one of my rolls, and forgot to give my aunt her yakisoba, so we had to ask for them. There was only one other table of 2 seated while we were dining, so I can't even blame a busy dining room as the reason why the staff was flustered. On the plus side, our server did bring my baby cousin a tiny serving of miso soup, so my aunt didn't "have" to share hers, and brought a spoon for the baby, so that was a nice touch. All in all, this tourist definitely will not be eating here again.
