Ordered the blue coconut slush with bubbles and candy, strawberry cheesecake milk shake, large onion rings and fries. Slushies and milk shakes are great. Food is quite standard -- your typical fast food, ya know. Service is super fast and the lady who handed us the order was super nice. It's a bit difficult to eat in the car without making a mess. Honestly, I had what was probably the worst cheeseburger of my life from Sonic tonight. The meat tasted very cheap, and gamey. Left a really weird after taste as well. The bacon on it was barely cooked, and the Texas toast was dry and burnt. The only good thing I had were the onion rings! They seriously tasted like funnel cake. This is solely based on dessert because that's what I came here for. Ordered a oreo blast and added hot fudge to it. It was really good, I will say that I got a small and it was pretty big. The only thing was the person taking our order didn't know the ounces difference between the mini and small which I found strange. If he was sure of the ounces I would have gotten the mini to be honest. After seeing all the commercials with those two guys sitting in their car eating at a Sonic drive-in I decided to see what Sonic is all about. I had noticed this Sonic in my travels around Long Island and bookmarked it to try at a later date. Well the wife and I were shopping nearby and were looking for a place for lunch. I remembered this Sonic so off we went. Just like in the commercials you can sit in your car and a car hop will roller skate your order over to you. I do not like eating in my vehicle so we opted to sit in their patio area. You place your order at the menu board and wait for your server to skate your order to the table. The service was fast and personable. Now on to the food. I'm not a fan of fast food but Sonic gave us quite a surprise, everything was very good. I was not in the mood for a hamburger or a hotdog or a fried chicken sandwich. I noticed that they serve breakfast all day so I chose a bacon, egg and cheese on a ciabatta roll with fires and a diet coke. My wife had the cheeseburger with tater tots and a diet coke. I do not mind eggs cooked in a microwave if done properly and at Sonic they did it the right way, not over cooked. The bacon was plentiful, 3 slices, thick cut and also not over cooked. I like my bacon on the soft and chewy side and it was cooked like I like it. The ciabatta roll held it all together perfectly. I like the fact the the french fries still had the skin on them, were cooked to crispy perfection and did not wimp out. Even the soft drink was not overloaded with ice. My wife's cheeseburger is not her usual thing but she said it was surprisingly satisfying. Lettuce tomato sweet onion topped her quarter pounder. She is a fan of tater tots and she said these were the highlight of her meal. I would rate Sonic a step above McDonalds and Burgerking. Only visit if you have time. The drive thru is slow as molasses, both pre- and post-pandemic times. I often stop here just for a drink and have to wait a minimum of 15 minutes most times, and that's only with one or two cars in front of me. I love Happy Hour but obviously that's a company thing and not just this location. Glad we have a Sonic on Long Island. Been here multiple times over the past year or so. I usually dine-in here by parking outside in front of the place and ordering food in the central area rather than driving in. They have a hugeeee menu with a crazy amount of options. I got the boneless wings meal here recently. It came with 6 boneless wings, fries, and a soft drink. It came out to like $8.61 with tax included. The meal was a bit of a rip off; definitely not enough food included for paying almost 9 bucks. The wings were pretty aight and the fries weren't the best. I ate my meal in like 4-5 bites and wasn't full. At times they have a pretty long line for the drive-in as well. I'd give 2.5 stars to be exact. read more

I have been watching commercials for a long time. When they opened this place up, I couldn't wait to try them. I waited several years and finally went for some ice cream one night. The ice cream was fine. About a week later, we went back for some food. Pulled into a space and ordered from the big board. It was only a couple of minutes before our server skated over and handed us a bag of food. Since it was a drive in place, I presumed they put a try on the window. They do not. I'm so glad they opened a branch in Deer Park, I usually end up going here while cruising on Long Island and want something fast to eat. Some yelpers had to wait a while to get food from Sonic, but that never happened to me. The times I've come here with my bf were odd hours like 11pm to 12:30am, so maybe that's why I never had to wait and the food came fast, roughly about 5 minutes for my order. I just returned from the Deer park @9:50 10/14/22 location w/ my 2 cousins. We went out of our way to that location 20+ mins away. We got a large order $69 , suppose to be 3 Jumbo popcorn chix Meals Lg, 5pc Chix Fing w/ffs meal , 3 cookie dough bites , a pretzel , & corn dog ..Upon returning home the 3 pop chix meals were small & charged us for lg. all the ffs soggy greasy mess & ice cold , corned was disgusting!! Here's the Scoop: Sonic is a really quick way to get a tasty bite to eat. Your order is taken through the drive-in speaker and delivered with a server on skates. You can use your card right in the drive in menu or pay the server. Friendly servers and effecient service. We waited about 5 minutes if that long. My chicken sandwich was crispy, lettuce & tomato fresh, bun toasted. Soo good. I ordered a strawberry slushee the bomb with bits of strawberry. Yummm! Love this fast food. Tried sonic on several occasions and unfortunately I am really not a fan. Burger was just ok, popcorn chicken way to salty. I enjoyed the tater tot's and corn dog. More expensive than most fast food and not worth it. I guess you pay for the novelty of car hops delivering your food. Probably geared more towards kids. read more

Sonic Drive-in is basically just a normal Sonic. When this place first open they had a limited menu (just to limit what they can serve); however, ever since they have gotten better and have expanded their menu. I got their burger and to be honest it tasted like a McDonalds burger with mustard on it? Is that a bad thing? Not really if you wanted something fast, but it is more about the experience of eating your food in the car that you come here for with a customizable drink. Unfortunately for me I got a Coke. It isn't a bad thing I just was not in the mood for something sweet that was made from a syrup. I have gotten their cherry limeade in the past which tasted okay, but again it tasted like pure syrup with a touch of limeade. Nothing against the staff it is just not my cup of... limeade? I like their chili cheese tots. These are always good no matter which way your twist it. I have eaten at Sonics down South and for some reason I prefer the regional food they have down there. In Louisiana I liked the Country Fried Steak burger and they didn't have that here. I also had it in South Dakota where they had a Jalapeno burger which was pretty darn good too. Unfortunately they do not have that here. Instead they have hot dogs which is mediocre to say the least. My wife got a hot dog with onions and mayonnaise (gag) don't ask why. Maybe she didn't get the right hot dog combo but I disliked the taste of the meat. Maybe I am used to eating Sabrett and Boars Head natural casing hot dogs all my life. Anyways I did not enjoy their hot dogs. In summary. Is the food good? It is alright. Why would I come here? Go for the experience if you need something fast and you are with your family. Better than going to a McDonalds and getting something through the drive through. If you have family members who are into different types of drinks take them here. I never have had issues here before, but today I was given cold food and a melted/already separated slushee. I did a mobile order and checked in when I got there. The screen said that my order was on its way. I waited 30 minutes and still wasn't brought out my order. I had to press the red button and ask about my order and when it was finally brought out it was cold and the drink was starting to separate as you can see in the picture. Finally...Sonic has come to NY! I wish I could have some new and exciting review of Sonic but I've been to other locations several times before. It's just nice to know that this one is a lot closer to home (depending on the time of day) and if I really want a cherry limeade then dammit, I can go get one! With that said, this Sonic is super-organized. This is probably due to the fact that it's still brand new and there is still a 40 minute wait for the patio, a 20 minute wait for the drive-thru, and I have no clue what the obnoxious wait time is for the stalls. You can follow them on Facebook for time updates. There is currently security to keep everyone in line (yes, really). There is red tape to mark the end of the line before you reach the patio. There are heat lamps within the patio. And it was downpouring the night we went so I felt bad for the staff due to the fact that they're on skates/blades. But Sonic is still Sonic, even with this location's reduced menu. Yes, those of you who have never been to a Sonic outside NY, they have a much larger menu elsewhere. This menu still hits the spot, though. All the drinks are still there, the shakes, breakfast, and many of the food staples such as burgers, hot dogs, and chicken strips. Service is a little slow right now due to how busy it is but I'm sure this will change. Also, please learn how to use the ordering board correctly. Free cups of ice? I am one happy camper! Now, I love Sonic for many reasons but I am in love with their ice. Just a little background, a few months ago I was diagnosed with anemia which in turn caused me to crave ice; I am much better now however, during my anemic days I did crave ice and here in Texas they charge you for it... So, to my surprise when I went to visit, Deer Park, NY, I was in luck. Not only is this the only Sonic on Long Island but they offer free cups of ice. Other than that, it's the typical Sonic that I am used to seeing back home, but for the locals this seems to be a treat. I say this because the line will sometimes make it out onto the road. I love that I can get soft serve in a proper cone through a drive thru! The food is pretty decent for a fast food place and the tatertots are a great break from French fries. But I go for the dessert. Very cute car hop along with skating waiters/waitresses. I myself live close by and pretty much knew the kids working here when I was in highschool so I personally know they have a really nice staff. I may never get that diner carhopping experience from its heyday in the 60s but the idea of it fascinates me. It has been a million years since Sonic has been on my bucket list but I would probably never trek out to the middle of Long Island or Jersey just to go. I might regret saying this. Great, huge spacious location by the outlets and you really can't go wrong with being served and the convenience of eating in your car. Nothing like feeling of dripping juice off your burgers and getting oily hands and not giving a hoot because no one's watching. I got a cheeseburger with onion rings and a Oreo Sonic Blast. The cheeseburger was a good, standard burger with everything in it. The onion rings were a little sweet..yes, I said SWEET; very thick and huge onion rings but the sweetness bothered me. I think I'll stick to Burger King. The Oreo Sonic Blast is a more creative version of the McFlurry--only with whipped cream and pieces of Oreo cookies on top. Very rich in flavor and if you don't have a huge appetite like me, you will find it exhausting after a meal and hard to finish. It took me HOURS to finish it!
