The commercials make these restaurants look amazing, with great food and great service. However when I got there, I was very disappointed. I placed my order and then waited. And waited. And waited. After 20 minutes of waiting, I got out of my car and went inside to find out what happened to my food. When I went inside and told them I had waited 20 minutes, the person behind the counter looked at me like I was from another planet. After explaining my situation and the manager came out, I was told my order had been lost and that's why I had not been served. The manager assured me that my order was at the front of the line and would be out in 3 minutes, I returned to my car. Where I waited another 10 minutes until my food was brought to me. When I looked in the bag, my drinks were missing as well as part of my food. At that point I had had enough and told the server I didn't want the food and to just refund my money. I was told the money would be refunded and that the food was free. I took it and left. When I actually ate the food it was very lacking in taste and had way too much sauce on the burger to the point that the buns were soggy. Needless to say I was NOT happy and I will not be returning to Sonic anytime in the future. read more

Fast food burger joint that is pretty much a staple down south. The food is average... better than McDonald's which is beside it. They offer a large variety of slushies, lemonades, limeade, shakes and sundaes. You can customize your drinks, but you can't customize any menu options. They offer chili cheese dogs but won't budge and upcharge you to put the chili and cheese on a burger. You can't even ask to buy both and have them put the chili on a burger. That's annoying. Off-menu items used to be commonplace at Sonic...at least in Texas. What is it with fast food in Syracuse that fries don't come with ketchup and food doesn't come with napkins. Is ketchup not a thing here? When you ask for it you get two packets for multiple burgers and fries. To be fair, that plight had been at every drive thru here. Oh well. 2.5 stars. The service at this location was AWFUL! First, it took close to 10 minutes of waiting at the stall before our order was taken, then the order was closed out before we were even done ordering. We had to wait another 10 minutes for the queue to come around to our stall again to explain that we needed to complete our order. The 2nd person helping us opened up our "1st" order only to find out it was completely wrong. We finally got our order in, the server read it back to us to make sure she got it correct and we patiently waited for our food. When it arrived, items were missing and it was wrong AGAIN! We pushed the button and waited an additional 10 minutes for the queue to come back around to us to tell them and get this corrected. I'd give this Sonic location ZERO stars if that was an option for Bad service, bad attitudes from the staff and 45 minutes to get 2 combo meals and a burger. read more

I normally love sonic. I've been going to sonic for many years and have been to many locations. I was really craving some sonic food since I was going to be here for the night. Unfortunately, I should've kept on driving. This is by far one of the worst Sonic locations I have ever been to in my life. I waited forever for a hotdog and tots in the drive-thru line. Then, when I finally got my food, they didn't offer me catch up or even a bag for my food. A bunch of unprofessional non-customer service related people working there. Ridiculous. If you enjoy spending twenty minutes or more going through a drive-thru lane where you're the only customer, if you enjoy the adventure of trying items other than what you ordered, and if you are partial to greasy and rancid fried foods, then this is just the place. I just experienced this very thing this afternoon: despite there being nobody ahead of me at the order speaker, and there being only one car at the window, it took about twenty minutes to get two drinks and a corn dog. Although one of the drinks was right, my diet Coke was actually a non-diet fruity something that I managed to not spew on the dashboard only because I needed it to wash away the burnt / rancid taste of the dark brown, crunchy corn dog. Corn dogs were invented as a state fair novelty back in the 1940s, and I'm guessing that mine was part of that original batch: it was a horribly shriveled and wrinkled, overcooked specimen underneath the hard and oily protective shell. It might have been what Sonic calls "happy hour" -- but it certainly didn't make me happy. read more

When we had a chance to go to Syracuse, we decided to try Sonic on Brewerton. Don't even waste your time. I went to sonic one night around 9:30pm and there was only one other customer before me. I ordered 2 cookie dough blasts in the drive thru and proceeded to pull up to the window to pay. I waited at the window for 10 minutes and not a single employee came up to even take my money - let alone make the blasts. After 10 minutes, I noticed two employees walking out the back door to go smoke. Service at this sonic is horrendous. Don't waste your time or money at this location. If they can't even be bothered to come to the window and take my money then why even be open for business? STAY AWAY. read more

I have been to this location one other time, over a year ago. seen an advertisement on tv for the patty melt. thought I will give them another try. stopped in tonight. took a minute or 2 for someone to appear from the kitchen area. asked the girl taking orders for said patty melt. (mind you I see the commercial on tv tonight, it is advertised on their menu board, and advertised on the web-site). she tells me they don't make the patty melt. I asked her when they stopped serving it. she said I really don't know, i think sunday or Monday (today being wed). asked for a specific shake which she rang up and swiped my card. she came back out after about 3 minutes, asked me what kind of slushie I wanted??? told her again what kind of shake. she went to the back, came back a few minutes later, said that they don't make that shake anymore? told her to just refund my card. mgr or supervisor? comes out, asked if something was wrong with my order, because I asked for a refund. told him I never got any food, lolllll finally after about 2 min, he processed the refund (not holding out much hope for that either). will have to check my bank statement after the holiday. tried to call both locations tonight, both restaurants did not answer their phones several times. well sonic, I definitely won't be back. you won't be in business long here with reviews like this. betcha no one reaches out to me either. spend my $$ elsewhere read more

People like this really want 10 a hour what a joke. This wasn't even difficult . My fiancé and I order a 12 piece wing and a number 4 with a Pepsi . Wait about a half hour to them to come to us with a milkshake and a large fry... I mention that's not our order he says sorry comes back 10 mins later with our order but with a water ( food was cold ) he then said he'll get the Pepsi and Takes my card runs off with it to charge me then afterward waiting a lady comes out to get my receipt and then said she'll grab my Pepsi for me . I'm waiting forever at this point once again at this point I then buzz them to get the damn soda and she said they'll be out and finally do come to find out it's a root beer. Welcome to Sonic, central New York. This one is average, unfortunately. I was hoping for better, but for this area, its not bad at all. Ordering was slow. There were a lot of "ummms" when asked a question, and they seem very scripted otherwise. Just talk to me like I'm a customer, not like you have to get every detail of your script in. Had my food in 4 minutes. Nice. It was hot and as expected. This restaurant has an indoor sit-down area as well, and a drive thru. Only saw one server on roller skates. Driving in to the parking lot was a pain. Only entrance is Southbound on South Bay Road, not Route 11, but this may be temporary. I may be biased, spending years with Sonics in Oklahoma and Texas. I actually like sonic, but Syracuse has managed to produce a staff that thoroughly ruins it. We ordered inside, where manners (and evidently English) were optional. We were ignored for several minutes as one employee folded boxes right at the counter in front of us and another stood at her side on a casual phone call, talking quite loudly. We sat at the cleanest available table; do not be fooled, it was still filthy. I began to realize that virtually every surface in the restaurant was either sticky or covered in crumbs. Our food was brought to our table after around 15 minutes. I was willing to set aside my discouragement and enjoy my burger, but alas the staff was unwilling to let me leave with even the most meager chance that I may return. They forgot my shake, my brother's shake, and my girlfriend's shake. I proceeded to inquire at the counter, where I was met with more idle employees trying desperately not to accomplish anything. Not so stellar start to the am for the staff at Sonic. Ordered a breakfast toaster combo with no meat and requested ketchup and mayo on each side of the breads . I was asked to repeat what it was that I asked for and I did . Ketchup and mayo please and thank you. I guess mustard is the new ketchup . Drove back around and stated that it was incorrect was prompted to come back to the window. Second time around it had ketchup smeared on one side of bread and the other side had a dab of mayo. Not what I requested . I was going to take it on the chin, but then I had a and was like nah not today. To many restaurants are not being held accountable covid or no covid that's always been an issue . Covid-19 has only allowed for the issues to be magnified. If all you have is delivery and to go orders then it should be a lot easier. I've been in this industry for 20 years and it's not rocket science but details and listening skills are a must. If you don't like your job then find employment elsewhere. Talked to the manager and apologized for making it so difficult of a request and just requested my money back. read more

I decided to give Sonic another chance... as my first experience was pretty bad, but also very shortly after the opening, so I thought they were working out the kinks. My first experience, I chose the "button" method... Ordered a Bacon Chz Burg, some boneless wings (hot buffalo), and I think some fry type potato thing... can't really remember. Here's what I do remember... the $15+ bill(?), the 17-20 min wait(??) and the fact that the burger was practically cold by the time I got it. The wings were not too bad, quite spicy (a god thing). I remember feeling like I had wasted time and money. My LAST experience. Same order, minus the starch, and this time I got a cherry lime soft drink. For this trip, I chose the dining room. This time my bill was about $13 (still pricey for junk food). The order came out fast enough... and here is what I was greeted with over cooked bacon. Something else odd, they bought the food with no napkins, and no napkin dispensers anywhere. So getting some napkins involved me flagging down a server. Next strangeness, no ketchup in the bag, no dispensers... the dry overcooked bacon was begging for some ketchup... another trip to to the kitchen for me. The wings were swimming in sauce (not as spicy as I remember), and the size of the chunks are really too large to eat without cutting. No plastic knives... period. Too much ice in the drink, I finished it in three large pulls off the straw. The staff was friendly enough, but the food is a downer. Management was helpful for the most part so I edited my last review. After going again, they messed up my order, but I didn't bother correcting it. It could be better. The staff here didn't seem to care. Ordered French fries with chili sauce and noticed on the receipt it was entered it as tater tots. Informed a staff member of the mistake and she was quick to inform the kitchen. But when our order came we still had gotten tater tots - which were horrible.
