We had never eaten at the Cheesecake Factory, and went because someone had given us a gift card. We were impressed by the large and varied menu, which meant we each good get something we really wanted. Since it is a large chain, I appreciated seeing the estimated calorie counts on each dish. We started with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts (not in the photos). While these were good (and we ate all of it), Willow Rock Brewing Co. in Cicero has a much better Brussels Sprouts appetizer. The Miso Salmon was also good, however, there are locally-owned restaurants with better salmon dishes. The Factory Chopped Salad was delicious and a lot of food. (Leftovers became lunch the next day.) I don't think I've had a chopped salad before, so I was surprised at how "chopped" it was! In addition to the food, one of us had a draft beer and the other a mixed drink. For a restaurant that is always busy when we walk by, the wait was relatively short and the service was very good. Finally, we were both surprised at the total cost of our meal. The cost (just under $100) snuck up on us (plus tip). Will we go back? Maybe, but not right away. I stopped by The Cheesecake Factory on a random Tuesday, just an hour before happy hour began (which starts at 4 PM). I was treating myself to a slice of cheesecake after craving it for quite some time. A little background: I lived in Charlotte for years and had visited The Cheesecake Factory there multiple times, so this was my first time checking out the Syracuse location. I came in solely for dessert and didn't dine in for a full meal. It had been years since I last visited any Cheesecake Factory, but I remember the slices being bigger and the cheesecake itself having a richer flavor. This time around, the slice felt smaller and creamier--not bad, just not what I was hoping for. I initially ordered a Pineapple Upside Down Cheesecake with Caramel Drizzle (note: there is an additional charge for the caramel drizzle). It arrived looking really cute and well-presented, but unfortunately, it was much more cake than cheesecake. There was only one layer of actual cheesecake, and the rest was mostly cake. The cheesecake itself was very sweet--and I typically love sweet things--but this was a bit much for me. The whipped cream that came with it didn't have any flavor. While the slice was visually appealing, the flavor just didn't hit for me. My waitress was incredibly kind and attentive. She came by to check on me and asked if I was enjoying the cheesecake. When I told her I wasn't, she immediately offered to get me something else instead. I really appreciated how warm and understanding she was--even chatting with me a bit about the happy hour menu. I ended up ordering a classic cheesecake with strawberries, which was better. The whipped cream on this slice had flavor, and the cheesecake itself tasted closer to what I remembered. I'd still rate it a 7 out of 10, mostly because I was hoping for a richer flavor. It was ok, just not as indulgent as I expected. Made from steamed milk, it was frothy and rich and hit the spot. She ordered the Classic Hamburger and Fries and I ordered the Mushroom Burger and Fries. Both burgers were cooked to perfection, juicy, and delicious. I ordered the mushroom burger without the Fontina and Mayo. It still had mushrooms, caramelized onions, and swiss cheese. The flavors were fantastic. Both burgers were big enough to bring half home for leftovers. Our Server Greg was attentive. We took cheesecake to go. The one thing that is frustrating is that the servers have automatic doors for going out to the patio but there is no automatic door button for the entry. We were seated on Thursday for lunch. There were a lot of empty seats! We had 3 children and 2 adults. Once we were seated it took over 30 minutes for someone to bring bread and then another 10 minutes for her to take our order. I want to add there were A LOT of employees just walking around. The food was fresh and hot when it came out. The beet salad was delicious and fresh, a very light dish to start. The stuffed mushrooms is a favorite of mine and I frequently will order this for a small plate starter, and it did not disappoint. They were very hot coming out and the presentation wasn't great but I promise they were yummy and we ate every piece. The pasta DaVinci is another favorite of mine that I've gotten before and it hit the spot as always. I usually substitute for shrimp but I did the normal chicken this time. The one thing i will say about this dish is that the chicken fell apart in a way it never has before but the taste was great still. My friend got the French bread pizza and loved it. For my main meal I just ordered the nachos from the happy hour menu as well. They were overdone to some extent and a number of the chips were darker brown. However the dish tasted really good and I was too full to even need the tortilla chips that were extra brown. My boyfriend got a burger and fries. He said it was pretty good.
