I would say sonic is a pretty good fast food joint for a really quick, easy and cheap meal. In my opinion, their food is just as good as competitors like McDonald's or Wendy's and since it's a fast food restaurant, it's a pretty great place to get something on the go. Most people who use the drive-thru option for fast food places will definitely enjoy sonic since their drive-thru service is known to be pretty efficient. I've personally never had to wait super long for my order or anything like that whenever I went which is always a plus. I really like the portions they give out too and their fries are always well seasoned, never too salty or too bland. Definitely doesn't get enough credit as other fast food places so I would say come check it out if you ever get the chance! read more

This is the first time I've seen the average rating for this place, and it doesn't surprise me. This evening, I waited over 10 minutes for two plain hotdogs at the drive thru-- no explanation nor communication about the wait. During that time, I told the girl at the window I wanted a refund and was just going to go somewhere else. Instead of addressing that, she disappeared, probably to check on the status. When she came back, she didn't look at me and instead went right back to counting money at the register. I had to bring it up a second time to another guy who appeared for a different reason; he was taken aback and said they could offer cash back but not back on my card. During that exchange the first girl popped in and said my hotdogs were ready and if that was okay. I drove off without receiving an apology, and I will not be dining at this location again to receive inept service. The mandatory mask-wearing at the window is bad enough. read more

My second time here. This time I just wanted a milk shake. While there was nothing bad about the shake, there was also nothing that made it stand out. There could have been a lot more chocolate in it as it seemed the vanilla ice cream overpowered the other flavors. Very much like my first experience with a double hamburger, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good enough to make me want to go back anytime soon. I think there are better places to get a shake close by. I only come here for the 'Sonic Blast'! There are 4 Sonics total in Chicagoland area and this location is open until midnight. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 'sonic blast'! I guess I just don't "get" Sonic. Or even the concept of drive-in restaurants in general. It's like a bunch of morons got together during a brainstorming session and said, "Hey, you know when you're on a road trip or in a hurry and you decide to eat fast food in your cramped car over a couple napkins on your lap but you still manage to spill mustard on your pants anyway? We should build a whole genre of restaurant around that so people can do that anytime!" And that's how the drive-in was born. Sonic's food is okay. Okay chicken nuggets, okay tater tots, okay corn dog. I also tried a "Blizzard"-type dessert with not nearly enough Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in it, which was kind of a letdown. This is probably one of the most poorly ran fast food joints in the area. I am a die hard fan of their soft drinks and tonight...out of soda. What? It is not common to have to wait in line for over 15-20 minutes because they are understaffed. The clerks are pleasant enough but this is hardly FAST food. For what it is, Sonic is good! I've never had a problem, and the service is friendly. I don't really care for the food all that much, but if you read over the menu, and you like what you see, chances are, you'll like what you are served. Only problem I have encounteres is with their malts - a thick malt/chocolate build up in the bottom of the cup with both malts I have ordered there. Stopped relatively late (for the suburbs) on a Saturday night around 10:15pm or so. They are open 7am to 11pm every day, plus 12 midnight last night!! Food- My lady friend went for a Supersonic Bacon Cheeseburger, I opted for a Footlong Chili Cheese Dog (with onions and mustard). Plus some tater tots and since they have breakfast available all day long , so we split a ultimate meat breakfast burrito. Every hing was tasty. Bun for foot long Coney split on me so that made an already difficult eating in the car time a lil adventurous. Mustard was a lil heavy and my dining companion didn't realize you need to specify toppings on her burger so she missed out on getting ketchup to make that wonderful mayo-ketchup flavor combo she loves. Beverage choices are great except for me...very little in the diet & caffeine free selection department. The 44 oz option is a beautiful thing. Service quick and efficient. As good a burger as Five Guys? Probably not, but uniqueness of tater tots, shakes/malts, and breakfast all day (are you listening McDonalds??), being open early/late make it a viable contender. read more

This is the absolute worst Sonic location I have ever been to! The wait time is ridiculous, the staff is idiotic and the inside is absolutely disgusting! I've also noticed a large Indian or Middle Eastern family frequenting this location after panhandling in the nearby Walmart parking lot. We always wanted to try their food as it came highly recommended after IN n Out Burgers.We were next door at Walmart and so had a perfect opportunity to give them a try. we ordered a Cheese Burger, Crispy Chicken Burger, Fish Burger, Onion rings, chicken pop corn, sausage in a poppy bun, Vanilla milk shake, Whisky Shake and some mixed berry shake.We ran a bill of almost $ 50.00. The food was delivered pretty fast, but or some reason all the fried food tasted bitter. The chicken popcorn felt like refried and were very dry. The Fish burger has a overly dominating fishy smell. The onion rings were fried brown and tasted bitter. The shakes were so thick that sucking it through the straws had become a task. They should start providing broder straws like the ones by the bubble tea guys or then make i not so thick. The only thing good was the Cheese burger but again it was priced over $5. Nobody got to eat the chicken burger, so we decided to take that and one milk shake for next day. That was the biggest mistake. Next day it didn't even taste half as good. The shakes felt as if they were made from hydrogenated and not real dairy. They dont have any exciting sauces or any interesting flavors to their food. Came here for lunch today and was very impressed that they had an indoor section to eat inside instead of trying to eat in the car which sometimes can be very difficult. The food was excellent and the cashier who took our order was very friendly and nice his name was Justin. I recommend this place to anybody looking for some good food. I live around the corner and had a craving for milk shakes. It was 8pm on a summer weekday and the drive-in didn't seem very busy. However, I'm not sure what the problem was but we waited 25 minutes for 2 milkshakes. We should've gone through the drive through as I'm sure it couldn't have taken that long for 2 milkshakes. That was our first and last visit. With 2 kids and a fast food restaurant, I expect faster service. The food was fair, nothing great and definitely not worth the wait. I love Sonic's food, drinks and desserts, and finally this is a Sonic that is only 3 to 4 minutes from my house, so it was very exciting that one that close was built, but the service at this one sucks! It really sucks. Almost everytime i go there, they get my order wrong, and my order is probably the easiest thing on the planet. Yes, i am kind of a picky eater in terms of what i want on my burger, but the people who work here seem to not understand the terms "none of this" or "ONLY this on it" when i order my burger...I have even gotten food i sent back to get corrected wrong, twice! I ask for a order a double burger with only 3 things on it, and no cheese and its always totally wrong. If you think that that is a difficult order to process, you shouldn't be taking orders or cooking in any dining place. I have called the hotline to complain twice. The people seem to have no prior fast food or any food service experience and probably only applied to work at sonic because IT'S SONIC YIPPIEEE! I GET TO ROLLERBLADE AT WORK, SWEET!!! No other place EVER has any problem or misunderstanding when i order a burger how i want, so why is it so difficult for Sonic employees! And to all you Sonic franchise managers, whether you are going to open one up or already have one open...try hiring people with experience and who can PAY ATTENTION to someone's order...your food is great enough, why do you have to ruin my having a craving for it by getting a simple order wrong ALL THE TIME? I'm usually rather fond of Sonic, I love the chili cheese dog, tots, and their shakes. Which is why I have to rate this location so poorly. I attempted to use my card here, and after an epic five minute struggle to obtain the attention of manager, they said it was declined. I went across the street to the Taco Bell, and it worked fine. The next day I come back with cash, but wanted to try ordering from their consoles in the parking stalls to see if my card would work. Thirty minutes later, I pulled out of the stall and used cash through the drive through. Mostly I suppose this is a testament to how good the shakes are that I would tolerate such poor service, and how cheap they are with the half price after 8pm. But still, spectacularly poor service for what is usually a pretty straightforward process. read more

The way I see it no one really goes to Sonic for the food, or at least I dont. Its mediocre fast food and Im just not a big fan, but I am a definitely a sucker for their shakes and slushies. But the reason im writing this review is because of the staff. I go every so often and each time its a pleasant experience. Im sure working fast food sucks but these kids have fun with it and I really appreciate that. On Saturday the guy taking orders was over the top funny with his greeting and take on a Matt Damon character. I was so caught offguard as no one expects that when the drive thru looks slammed and I almost died laughing - it was an unexpected suprise and now I want to tell everyone because everyone should hear how funny it was.
