We stopped in here to grab food before heading out to a drive in movie with the family, I ordered ahead on the app and scheduled it for pickup at 6:50pm. We arrived at 7pm, pulled up to a stall and I notated on the app that we had arrived to the stall. 20 mins pass and nothing, so we decide to go through the drive thru to make sure they know we're there. We pull through the drive thru and the guy says we didn't check in - I showed him my app clearly showing we checked in 20 mins prior and he said they're getting it ready. A few mins later they give us our food and drinks, and all 3 orders of tater tots that go with the coney meals were missing from the order - not a huge deal, we just let him know...he then turns around and starts yelling and cursing someone out in the back kitchen area saying they don't know how to do their job right and to hurry up and fix it. We got our tater tots a few moments later. While the wait for the order that we placed in advance was annoying - my biggest issue was the conduct of the employees here. Our food was perfectly fine, everyone enjoyed their meals without complaint - but we had our 2 kids in the car who heard this man turn around and say all of this to another employee...just bad business and bad customer service all around. I wish I never told my kids that I liked this place. For many years, this was my go-to after Bucs games. I loved it. Not since 2020. They need to tear this place down, burn it to the ground, salt the earth and or put in something else. They don't answer any button pressed. I've sat here many days for 30+ mins because my kids want an ice cream. I've tried to tell them never again, but they insist. It's always an absolute Disaster. I love that I was able to pull up to a spot and have the menu and payment right there for me. I decided to get a hot dog combo with a drink and fries. The hot dog was very tasty and the toppings all tasted fresh. The onions weren't overly strong and the relish was very sweet in a good way. The fries were crispy and salted to the right amount! Haven't had Sonic since we were stationed in NC. Number 3 with no mayonnaise!! What came out was number 3 with all the mayonnaise I believe they had in the restaurant. The service is mediocre meaning please pay attention to the costumers when they order and repeat it back to ensure that order is correct. The fries were cold. . I ordered a Sonic Cheeseburger plus tots and a breakfast sandwich (breakfast served all day) by way of the Sonic mobile app. Right after that I pulled into the stall, checked in and waited an inordinate amount of time - one hour! It should not take one hour to fill a small order. Now if I had a large order that would be different and I understand. But to wait an hour for a small order is completely unacceptable. Something to keep in mind if you have to be somewhere on time such as work. Sonic corporate needs to shut this Sonic down and retrain all of its employees on customer service. I've been here twice recently out of the simple fact that it's the only Sonic in close proximity to my home. Other than that, I don't like or appreciate the customer service provided here. They get 1 star for getting my order right, but the service here is slow, the cashiers aren't friendly, and the "hot" food comes out lukewarm. During my last visit in the drive-thru the cashier took my debit card and closed the window and took a good few minutes to give my card back. All the while I could hear the workers talking and laughing which doesn't send the right idea into the mind of a customer. Since then I've been making sure to check my card statement for any suspicious charges because welp it's 2021 and anything is possible when it comes to people doing the unthinkable. On top of that my mozzarella sticks were not hot when they came out. This place can definitely do better. The employees are so rude! I had one experience two weeks ago when I pulled up to the drive through, I was immediately met with attitude. I looked passed it, and continue to ask a question and was told "yeah, it's on the menu". I was like oh wow. However, it was not there, if it was I wouldn't have asked. My daughter didn't get her correct drink; she got a slush and I got a regular cheeseburger with pickles only. So I called back in to say my order was wrong and they lady barely let me speak, she kept cutting me off. Long story short she said it will be out. They brought out my daughters drink but without a straw, when I asked for one she said they are out of the bursting bubbles straw; so not sure how she is suppose to drink them . Sonic is not one of my favorite places to eat, but this location on southern Dale Mabry is certainly convenient after a late-night run to see a certain lovely nurse at Tampa General. You'll find this particular Sonic just north of I-275 amid all of the "gentlemen's clubs" in this stretch of Dale Mabry. I'm not sure of the exact hours of this drive-through, but I know that they're open well past Midnight. The history of the Sonic chain can be traced back to 1953 and a small root beer stand called Top Hat in Shawnee, Oklahoma. After successfully operating a handful of Top Hat locations, the owners changed the name of the existing locations to "Sonic" - as a match for their slogan, "Service at the Speed of Sound." Now speaking of service, you have two different ways to order and receive your food at this Sonic. You can either pull through the traditional drive-through entrance -- just past 2001 Odyssey gentlemen's club (Make it rain in the space ship, baby!) -- place your order at the window, and exit to the north near the Winn-Dixie shopping center. Your other option is to turn into one of Sonic's covered stalls, roll down your window, read the menu posted on the divider next to your car, and finally press the button to place your order with someone inside the restaurant. The food is cooked to order and then rushed out to your car by one of their servers, who will collect the money and then leave you to eat in peace. We've all seen the TV commercials with the two guys sitting in their car and snarfing down Sonic food and drinks while cracking jokes. Avoid the temptation to try out your best Sonic humor on the servers -- they've heard it all before, and will likely dump the milkshake on your head! Sonic's menu has the usual assortment of burgers, Coney's and hotdogs, chicken sandwiches & strips, breakfast burritos, frozen slushie drinks, milkshakes, fries, onions rings, tots, and so on. My late night meal of choice is the grilled Asiago Caesar chicken sandwich with a root beer float. It's prolly full of a bazillion calories, and I know that my doctor would have kittens since there is no way that this food can possibly be good for my cholesterol levels, but it tastes so darned good in the middle of the night. I have to say that I've seen my share of cars full of highly inebriated people pulling through here late at night, so expect this place to be noisy and crazy. Was at a car show next door last night and we walked over to Sonic to grab some drinks. Pushed the button for the walk up area and the employees kept turning it off. Others had walked over after us and tried using the ordering kiosks in the parking spaces. One had luck ordering, but no one else. The employee who responded said to come through the drive thru AFTER we told her that we walked there. So we did just that and there were 3 employees on their phones scrolling and 1 was dancing, but they didn't have time to take anyone's order. We knocked on the window and she basically ignored us. After she opened the window and said she would ask if she could take our order that way, she turned around and started scrolling/dancing again. Basically ignoring us.
