Despite my opposition I was outnumbered in this Cracker Barrel (CB) decision. I will admit I have never been to a CB before and my not so positive opposition was influenced by verbal naysayers, discouraging and tainting my decision. I didn't share any of this info with my companions as I didn't want my thoughts to dissuade them. As a Yelper, I needed to observe and make a determination based on my own personal experience. So off we went. Well, well, well! The four of us walked in and were greeted with enthusiastic 'southerly' charm. And the smile that came with that charm made us all feel quite welcome. Walking through the CB doors you are instantly hit with an overwhelming amount of chotskies, cookware, clothing, food items...so many things for sale. Once we made it through the maze of chotskies to the hostess desk, we were guided to our table in the nostalgic dining area by our waitress Maria. Maria was just as friendly as our greeter. She provided us with homely service, checked on our table several times, as well as the other patrons tables. Honestly, we wanted for nothing, she provided us everything we needed promptly. Our mixed bag of fulfilling, hot breakfast items included Biscuits, Gravy, Pancakes, Omelets, Fried Apples and breakfast meats. Everyone was satisfied. I couldn't resist and also ordered a side item of Catfish ($8.99/1pc) to go with my breakfast. Glad I did as it was so good...hot, crispy, fresh and seasoned perfectly. I am glad that I folded and went with the consensus, as my experience here is the total opposite of the naysayers. We were treated cordially and were very happy with our meal, the hospitality and the atmosphere at this particular Cracker Barrel.

I have lived close to this restaurant for a long time ,but never went. So after my haircut, I decided to address it. CB is a restaurant with a small store attached to it. I was seated after speaking to someone in the store. Kenneth was my server. He was very quick, polite, and efficient with my food. No complaints. Instead of my usual pancakes, I wanted to try something not available at First Watch or Shelly's Cafe. I decided on the Fried Apple French Toast Bake and the Iced S'mores Latte. The Bake is basically French Toast soaked in custard and cheese and baked and then garnished with fried apples. It feels like a cross between FT and Bread Pudding. It was very soft and sweet. The apples were fresh and added a different feel to the dish. It feels like a good "dessert for breakfast" dish. It comes with one protein -bacon or sausage. I got bacon. 8/10 The Iced S'mores Latte had a nice presentation. The first few sips were very chocolatey and the whipped cream and graham cracker crumbs added to the authenticity. It started tasting like a standard iced coffee afterwards though 6/10 One thing I didn't know is that you have to pay in the "store" section. The server won't pick up your payment and run it themselves. Parking is adequate and the bathrooms were clean. Prices are similar to First Watch and Shelly's in general. A few items are cheaper by $1-2 dollars from what I saw. Overall: A good breakfast option in USF area. 4/5

All cracker barrel eateries look the same. That shopping trap out front, for what was once an interstate road trip stop os now in every neighborhood. The fried pickles were excellent, but as usual, we ordered roo much food and our mains ended up not being enjoyed there, but in out hotel room later on. Checking out took longer because they were short staffed and we had to wait for someone to come take the card, as we didn't use their ap. Again, like a theme park, you exit thru the gift shop, all the nice looking clothes, if you're lucky, it's their halloween items (in store early july)

Ordered food online as my boyfriend and I are both sick as can be and what we were given isn't even edible. Let's take away the fact that they forgot his drink and extra sides that when we asked to sub them they did not. The lemonade we got was 85% pulp and when we screwed the cap off there was black shit around the neck. I should've gotten a photo but I didn't. Now let's talk about the food we actually did receive: the chicken was cold, the dumplings were cold it seemed like it had been microwaved, the biscuits were so undercooked all u had to do was squeeze the bread and it was dough again, the Mac and cheese was clearly burnt to a crisp and then covered over and of course even though it's so difficult to fuck up cinnamon apples they forgot the cinnamon. Wasted $40 on food I can't even eat. Whoever sent this food out should be ashamed to call themselves a cook and we both work in food service we can tell when it's a busy night versus someone literally just not doing their job. We couldn't even eat the food and now have to order somewhere else. Gross and we won't be returning

We were seated right away which was great for a Sunday morning! Our server was nice and attentive. We did have a bit of a wait for our food which is why 4 stars and not 5 but the food was great! Cracker Barrel has stepped up its game. All the original favorites plus more. The mimosas were also good. Who doesn't like a Cracker Barrel breakfast and the shop is always nice! Lots of Christian items!

The food was delicious. The environment was normal. Not too noisy. Ken provided wonderful service. He was very attentive and personable. My hubby, son and I decided to grab a bite to eat. The prices were reasonable. The pics are of my hubby's and son plates. Unfortunately I deleted my pic in error. I had maple bacon grilled chicken breast with turnip greens and mac n cheese. It was delicious.

It was after my Sunday walk and I was craving those pancakes. The service was polite and good as usual and the pancakes were what i was looking for. I had Grandpa's something or other with the country fried steak and that was a wrap for me. Always good food there in that country atmosphere that the do so well.

Neither one of us had been here before but I saw it had very good reviews on Google. We both got the chicken dinner with different sides. He had the Mac and cheese and I had mashed potatoes since they were out of candied yams. We also both had yellow rice and collard greens. We also shared honey cornbread and hush puppies. Everything was VERY good!! There were a few downsides. We came on a Sunday evening and most of the food was sold out. The women who took our order said Sundays are also busy so we notated that for next time. The wait time is very long since the staff is limited. That day it looked like there were 2 or 3 people working. Lastly, I ordered a lemon poundcake and when I got home, it wasn't in the bag. I was pretty upset. The inside is nice, although very small so I would recommend getting the food to go. They don't allow call ins in advance so be prepared to wait. The staff were also very friendly. I would go back but earlier in the day and double check that all my items were in the bag.

The meatloaf was well-seasoned, and I enjoyed it with the gravy. The mashed potatoes had a nice homemade texture, but the garlic was overpowering. The red beans were also too garlicky for my taste. I hope they consider using less garlic in both dishes. I had a small to-go portion of red beans and requested only a teaspoon of rice. The lady at the front said I would normally have to pay for it and then told me, "You know you already have rice in your container, right?" Her response came across as rude--especially because she had overlooked the fact that I paid $1.50 to upgrade from rice to mashed potatoes. Since the mashed potatoes replaced the rice, there was no rice in my container. The cook then came out, clarified that I had upgraded, and gave me a little bit of rice. It was enough and exactly what I had requested. The sweet potatoes could use more butter and sugar. They weren't very sweet and tasted a little too "potatoey." The macaroni and cheese isn't baked, but I liked it. Its creamy style reminded me of Louisiana-style preparations. The punch is very sweet, but I actually like that because you can add water and turn one serving into two cups! The lady at the front forgot to put my lemon pound cake in the bag, so thank God I checked before leaving. Despite some previous comments suggesting otherwise, the lemon pound cake is definitely homemade and tastes like a homemade pound cake. It was good--nothing to write home about--but it had a genuine homemade taste and was topped with confectioners' sugar. The cook mentioned that red beans and rice may become a regular menu item and that they may also offer a sweet red sauce option for the meatloaf. Those would be nice additions. The lady at the front also said they plan to move to a larger location in the future. The current location is small, but it is nice, neat, and clean, with a pleasant sitting area where customers can wait for their food. The food comes out piping hot, which adds to the homemade feeling--as though it came straight out of the pots in someone's home kitchen. Despite the issues, I would rather eat here than go for Chinese food. I'm sharing this feedback to encourage improvement, not to degrade the restaurant. There are some good flavors here, and with a few adjustments--and closer attention when packing orders--the experience could be much better.

The server initially said they maybe out of chicken. Came back to say they had chicken left. My husband order liver and onions, she was unsure about the liver and onions. She asked the cook, who was walking around out front. He responded, yes we have liver. Okay, great we ordered. She said it will take 15 minutes. We said okay. She comes back out to say they have no Lima beans. My husband says why don't you tell me what you have and I will choose. It was apparent they had very little on the menu. It's 1:30pm on a Wednesday. It helps to know your inventory. The food comes out. I could hardly cut the chicken it was so dry and overcooked. It looked dark inside as if it was old. I tasted a little piece thinking maybe it was a different seasoning, it had an aftertaste. When the server came back, we inquired about the chicken. She said it is precooked in the mornings and cooked completely when ordered. I thought that's dangerous, letting undercooked chicken sit until ordered. The liver was so dry, you can see it in the picture. My husband could not eat it. They gave the impression that the food was cooked to order. It was not. The black eye peas and yams were good. The collard greens were okay. Not sure where the gravy on the rice came from. It wasn't from the liver. We didn't eat any of the food. They charged us for half the meal. I would have given a 1, but they were very nice. My goal is never to hurt a business. I'm a business owner. But, we must give a good product. We were very disappointed.

The fish is fresh and moist and definitely the main attraction for us. I'm in a rut and always order the sweet potatoes and the Mac and Cheese. What can I say - I love this combination so much it warrants repeating. Those sweet potatoes are amazing and the Mac is also excellent. I got a to-go order of the fried fish for my hubby and he wanted his with the Okra and Tomatoes, which he really enjoyed. We don't get down to Mr. B's very often, so it feels like a special occasion when we eat there. The staff is always so very nice and that's the icing on the cake. Fair warning: this place has two personalities -- a restaurant side and a much louder dance-party side that share the same building. We opted for the restaurant side, which was surprisingly not busy despite the earliest reservation we could get being 7:30pm on a weeknight. The menu blends classic soul food (fried chicken, mac and cheese) with a strong New Orleans Creole influence -- gumbo, jambalaya, fried seafood, cornbread. Portions are enormous. We started with the deviled eggs ("D'Evils"), topped with fried chicken bites and lemon pepper dust -- excellent and surprisingly filling for just four halves. We also got the Nolia Clip, a vegan gumbo base loaded with fried shrimp, crabmeat, turkey sausage, and a full catfish filet -- essentially an entree-sized bowl on its own. For entrees, the fried chicken plate ("Let's Stay Together") was a standout -- moist chicken, crispy crust, great mac and cheese and collard greens, though the cornbread muffins were bland and watery-tasting. My jambalaya ("Burning Blues") turned out to be nearly identical in ingredients to the gumbo appetizer we'd already had, just a bit thicker and in a bigger portion -- worth knowing before you order both. We left with a full meal's worth of leftovers and zero room for dessert. Food quality was great across the board (minus the cornbread), and portions are a serious value. Service was the weak point -- slow to seat and slow table-side all night. Good pick if you're after soul food with Creole flair and don't mind a leisurely pace.

The sausage was amazing. Unsweetened tea was good, as well as potato salad and beans. Cons: the ribs were very large, tender and had a great smoke flavor but that's it.
