I'm a fan of Cracker Barrel. Breakfast all day every day is the place for me. And it's a good place to go when you really don't have anything planned. I had the Grandmas Sampler with French Toast and the sugar ham. And of course the hash brown casserole. Yum!!!! My husband had the Southern Fried Chicken with corn and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. It came with biscuits. I love their biscuits. They are always so soft. Lunch was a hit for us today. The start was a bit rough. I had signed up online and when I went in they told me it would be 15 minutes. I then came back another 30 minutes as I hadn't been called. They said they had accidentally deleted my entry and would have to wait another 30. Thankfully the manager told us we could go in. The waitress was super sweet! Despite my opposition I was outnumbered in this Cracker Barrel (CB) decision. I will admit I have never been to a CB before and my not so positive opposition was influenced by verbal naysayers, discouraging and tainting my decision. I didn't share any of this info with my companions as I didn't want my thoughts to dissuade them. As a Yelper, I needed to observe and make a determination based on my own personal experience. So off we went. Well, well, well! The four of us walked in and were greeted with enthusiastic 'southerly' charm. And the smile that came with that charm made us all feel quite welcome. Walking through the CB doors you are instantly hit with an overwhelming amount of chotskies, cookware, clothing, food items...so many things for sale. Once we made it through the maze of chotskies to the hostess desk, we were guided to our table in the nostalgic dining area by our waitress Maria. Maria was just as friendly as our greeter. She provided us with homely service, checked on our table several times, as well as the other patrons tables. Honestly, we wanted for nothing, she provided us everything we needed promptly. Our mixed bag of fulfilling, hot breakfast items included Biscuits, Gravy, Pancakes, Omelets, Fried Apples and breakfast meats. Everyone was satisfied. I couldn't resist and also ordered a side item of Catfish ($8.99/1pc) to go with my breakfast. Glad I did as it was so good...hot, crispy, fresh and seasoned perfectly. I have lived close to this restaurant for a long time ,but never went. So after my haircut, I decided to address it. CB is a restaurant with a small store attached to it. I was seated after speaking to someone in the store. Kenneth was my server. He was very quick, polite, and efficient with my food. No complaints. Instead of my usual pancakes, I wanted to try something not available at First Watch or Shelly's Cafe. I decided on the Fried Apple French Toast Bake and the Iced S'mores Latte. The Bake is basically French Toast soaked in custard and cheese and baked and then garnished with fried apples. It feels like a cross between FT and Bread Pudding. It was very soft and sweet. The apples were fresh and added a different feel to the dish. It feels like a good "dessert for breakfast" dish. It comes with one protein -bacon or sausage. I got bacon. 8/10 The Iced S'mores Latte had a nice presentation. The first few sips were very chocolatey and the whipped cream and graham cracker crumbs added to the authenticity. It started tasting like a standard iced coffee afterwards though 6/10 One thing I didn't know is that you have to pay in the "store" section. The server won't pick up your payment and run it themselves. Parking is adequate and the bathrooms were clean. Prices are similar to First Watch and Shelly's in general. All cracker barrel eateries look the same. That shopping trap out front, for what was once an interstate road trip stop os now in every neighborhood. The fried pickles were excellent, but as usual, we ordered roo much food and our mains ended up not being enjoyed there, but in out hotel room later on. Checking out took longer because they were short staffed and we had to wait for someone to come take the card, as we didn't use their ap. The only thing that went right during this experience was getting the correct drinks. So to start off when we ordered I asked for biscuits which came with my food and I asked for gravy with my mashed potatoes. We wait a while after ordering and while we are waiting at the table next to us a waitress dropped a whole tray of drinks onto and beside a baby sitting in a stroller. Obviously this is a horrible mistake but again it's a mistake so whatever, what wasn't a mistake was how it was handled afterwards. The waitress proceeded to say "I'm sorry" to the mom and then just walked away and started serving another table while her coeworkers apologized to the family and cleaned everything up. Maybe that wasn't her job or the policy here but she could have at least pretended to be sincere about her apology after making it rain on this new born baby. The next few problems started after our food came out. First they never gave us our biscuits and the same drink spilling waitress delivered our food. I asked her about the biscuits and she said "they will come later" and never even asked us about anything else, if we needed anything, or how the food looked. After she left we realized we were missing the gravy for my mashed potatoes that I ordered, our sauces, silverware, and again our biscuits, which we expected to come out before the meals. A long time passed before we saw our waiter so we pulled the other waitress aside from a nearby table. We asked for the missing items because without silverware our food was getting cold and sitting right in front of us and we couldn't even start eating. She asked us if we ordered biscuits and we said yes. A few moments passed and we finally received what we needed. I'm a college student so going out to eat doesn't happen often and it's disappointing to have such a negative experience. Let's take away the fact that they forgot his drink and extra sides that when we asked to sub them they did not. The lemonade we got was 85% pulp and when we screwed the cap off there was black shit around the neck. I should've gotten a photo but I didn't. Now let's talk about the food we actually did receive: the chicken was cold, the dumplings were cold it seemed like it had been microwaved, the biscuits were so undercooked all u had to do was squeeze the bread and it was dough again, the Mac and cheese was clearly burnt to a crisp and then covered over and of course even though it's so difficult to fuck up cinnamon apples they forgot the cinnamon. Wasted $40 on food I can't even eat. Whoever sent this food out should be ashamed to call themselves a cook and we both work in food service we can tell when it's a busy night versus someone literally just not doing their job. We ran into an issue with getting our fried pickles discounted and Mavis was very patient to try and fix it for us. Nothing was actually hot. It was warm. Barely. We did not complain as this young man was busting it to do a good job. Not his fault / kitchens fault. Cracker Barrel is a national establishment. On a Sunday afternoon my cherished memories of the past quickly turned to nightmares. We were sat promptly and the waiter was attentive at first. Our order came out quickly and towards the end of the meal I was dismayed to find hair in one of my sides. The hair was not mine. It was medium length and white/blonde. It was very unappetizing. When the waiter was informed of this, it was disregarded and ignored. We paid our bill and left. Disgusted at the potential of having consumed someone else's hair, I was nauseated. My visit is much improved on service and the food. This Cracker Barrel is the closest to my home. I saw the have some outside seating. It is great to have outside seating for this time of year. It is also good for the dog. We were here for lunch. They do have under seven dollars lunch special. We got the bacon glaze grilled chicken. The chicken is juicy. The bacon also nice and thick. My kid ordered the fried chicken fried. They brought the country fried steak. At the end they give additional fried chicken fried. We end up to take it home. We also order regular fried chicken. It was a traditional southern breakfast for me with eggs, bacon, grits, sausage, gravy, butter and jam. A leisurely paced meal, then I bought some pie filling, corn muffin mix and an apple butter. Love the rockers outside where you can wait for a table or digest a meal with family or friends or alone. Food and service are included when talking consistency, always predominately good. We stopped in after my son reminded me of getting a gift for a friend which I thought Cracker Barrel has a gift shop and food so we came in and decided we were gonna grab lunch before shopping so we were sat quickly and served minutes later, my son Already knew what he wanted and myself, I got the meatloaf it's my favorite and the waiter insisted I try the sweet potato loaded so I said sure that sounds good... it wasn't good it was AMAZING!! Why are the pancakes at this Cove Bend restaurant cooked differently from before and are not how they are pictured? One of the things I looked forward to is the crispy edges and cast iron finish. It is an amazing restaurant with beautiful decor and amazing service plus food. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted at the front check-in and then seated on our tables. We were soon greeted by our server Greta with menus and water. After browsing through the menus we first started our order with Tea and Coffee. For breakfast we ordered Grandma's Sampler along with Smoky Grilled Chicken Breast. Soon we got our Tea and Coffee. Coffee was hot and freshly roasted. Tea was also good and hot. Been going to Cracker Barrel on 54th Ave., North in St. Petersburg for years in the past two months I've ordered curbside and they've always forgot an item and it's a regular item that comes with the meal. The food when served was Lukewarm at best. Sent it back and the finished product was worse looking than the first one. Burnt Macaroni and cheese, and biscuits were burnt. Told the server that it needed to be reheated again and it was microwaved, and the mac and cheese seemed to have separated and tasted chalky. Unfortunately, I had to watch my husband eat his food while I waited. The server stated she was going to get the Manager and stated the meal could be taken from the bill. The Manager never showed up. We asked to see Christina the Manger and the server said she would be out in 10 minutes. It has been roughly three years since my last visit and I did notice some improvements in the food quality and service at this location near the University of South Florida. Cracker Barrel faces strong competition from nearby KiKi's, a brunchery, Bob Evans, and other full service eateries. But the Cracker Barrell seems to just "barrel along". Patrons consider the decor very inviting, while others might think it is dated and has run its course. Nevertheless, if you're on a road trip, the network of Cracker Barrells can be an oasis on the interstate. This restaurant, however, is hardly near an interstate exit for a quick stop. The prices are reasonable and food quality is mediocre, but there is plenty to eat. Our server on this visit was very nice and efficient. If you're in a hurry, you can pay with your phone at the table and avoid the cashier -- a nice innovation for travelers itching to bet back on the road. read more

My husband and son had their food my son's chicken was so hard it was hard to chew scrambled eggs had no cheese and I'm nothing and he had asked for it and he had biscuits and gravy as well no gravy we had to ask for the gravy and they brought a bowl for three people who are having biscuits and gravy at the table at the top it all off the big seats weren't cooked all the way the gravy was nasty and tasted like flour and liquid smoke it was gross. The only good part of my breakfast was the bacon. I told the server that I didn't want to pay for my food due to the fact that I couldn't eat my eggs nor did I get my toast until everybody was done eating then on top of it I asked the server why he didn't get me fresh eggs with the toast and he said management doesn't allow that. So I told him I wanted my breakfast taken off seeing how I couldn't freaking eat it and management couldn't even take the time come out and ask if my visit was okay nothing manager stood in the kitchen with a green shirt on looked at me I tried to get her attention but she was too busy with her phone problem could have been solved had a manager come to the table we made the eggs and toast together so that they weren't ice cold but instead I got the cold shoulder. Management staff at this cracker barrel could care less about their customers or their staff and it's a parent by the way they run their s*** I will never go back to this location due to the fact that management sucks my server was an amazing kid who's working his way through college and doesn't deserve to have management screwing him over and messing with his tips because they treat people like s***one would think that management would want to save their customers and not turn people away apparently they don't care enough about customer service or your guests to make them want to stay just send them out crappy food ignore them and treat them like crap and expect them to come back sorry cracker barrel you majorly drop the ball and you hire a bunch of incompetent managers read more
