I visited here twice and so far had a consistent solid experience. Im not a burger conneiseur but Ive had some great burgers and Im surprised that this actually ranks high among them. Here you can order inside or outside in the self order stalls, or the drive thru lanes. I parked in the lot and ordered from the self order stalls where servers bring out your order right to your car. I had their quarter pound hamburger for $2.29, the sonic burger, the vanilla shake, fries, chili, and ice cream sandwhich to try it out. The burgers taste great and have pretty much the same flavor as Steak Shake so I'm feeling someone copied, and likely it was the latter! Everything else was great, the shake had a subtle sweetness and fries were very good. I didnt care much for the chili and the tiny size of the ice cream sandwich. So far the servers and clerks are always very nice, the food takes a little while to come out but its worth it for the good taste, good price, and good service. They won me over to being a Sonic advocate, this is one of my favorite fast food burger spots now, and a top choice in the Terre Haute area. Well done Sonic. ** For more of my reviews check me out on YouTube on my channel Food Fight Showdown.

Easy in and out with a 5th wheel. We stopped for Route 44 cherry limeaides during happy hour 2-5pm 7 days a week! Service was fast, but it was also 3pm on a Monday afternoon. Can't beat the deal and location, just off the freeway. We left with two refreshing drinks for under $3. Give them a $5 and get a dollar back. $4 for two is still a good deal and gives the hop a tip.

Our car hop Gage is the best I've ever seen. He's speedy on the skates and has great manners. Best Sonic I've been to in a while.

The building itself is over a 100 years old and is on the National Register of Historic Places, this helps its cool vibe. We came in at 12:30 on a December Thursday, it was absolutely packed, what appeared to be multiple team/holiday gatherings. We were told a 20 minute wait, but we eventually were able to find a seat at the bar in less time. With as busy as it was, I was concerned food coming out may be impacted, but it came out quick. Allie was our bar tender, she was very friendly and attentive, shout out to her. First I started with a local beer, wango tango. I would call it a hazy pale ale. It was perfect for me. Had grilled shishito peppers. It was my first time to ever eat one, I loved them. I enjoyed them better without the sauce, but the wasabi Mayo did provide a nice kick. I ate the fried wontons with the sauce. We shared the crab Rangoon flatbread. It did not disappoint, and had a healthy serving size. I would get it again and again! Then I went with a comfort food, fried bologna sandwich. It came with a side, but the sandwhich alone was enough. I added a close pic of the sandwich, it had two thick cut pieces of meat. Impressive. It came with melted cheese, that was a twist for me, but I wanted to try it the way it was on the menu first. I eventually added ketchup, lol. We now have a new place to stop as we're passing by on 70. If I lived closer, i definitely would be a regular!!!

It's dated in the best possible way: dim lighting, worn-in character, familiar faces, and that unmistakable local hangout atmosphere where regulars clearly outnumber first-timers. The highlight here is the Tweety Burger, and honestly, that's the reason to come. It reminded me immediately of the classic Midwest style you'd find at places like Minor-Dunn in Highland, Indiana. The patty is smashed thin and cooked flat on the grill, giving it those crispy edges and deep, savory flavor you only get from a well-seasoned griddle that's seen years of use. It tastes homemade--not engineered, not trendy, just a straightforward burger done right. You can tell they take their time with the food. Nothing feels rushed or mass-produced. The burger comes out hot, flavorful, and satisfying without trying to be gourmet or overcomplicated. No towering Instagram presentation--just a solid, honest burger that delivers exactly what you want from a local pub. Service matched the vibe perfectly. The staff were personable, welcoming, and genuinely friendly in that small-town way that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a guest stopping by a neighborhood spot. Charlie's isn't flashy. It's not modern. And if you're looking for upscale dining or trendy décor, this isn't the place. But if you want an authentic mom-and-pop tavern experience with a burger that locals clearly treat as a tradition, it's worth the stop. Best advice: stick with the Tweety Burger. Don't overthink the menu. Order it, enjoy the atmosphere, and experience a piece of local Terre Haute character. Not a destination restaurant--but absolutely a solid local classic you should try at least once.

It didn't take long for a server to say hello and get us our drinks. Food didn't take long. Mother in law like her fish and onion rings , she said they were good and not at all greasy. Husband liked his omelette and tater tots. I got the gravy and biscuits and a side of bacon. The gravy was good, not the best ever but good. The bacon was crispy and flavorful. Drinks were kept filled even though our server got slammed with a huge party that trickled in little by little. Prices were super reasonable, We'd do this again when in the area.

I remember eating at Bob Evans in Terre Haute growing up around here. Maybe before the "breakfast spots" became more trendy outside the old guard restaurants like I-Hop, Waffle House, Stucky's and Cracker Barrel, BE had its moment in the sun. The bar is now high out there in the breakfast cosmos on what to expect in this arena of restaurant offering. My memories were better of the quality of food compared to our dinner here recently. My parents and myself all had breakfast options for dinner and they were simply OK. Biscuits a bit doughy, banana bread average, portion size smaller, nothing eventful with our meal. They are no longer selling beer/wine but whittling down their remaining inventory, so the glimmer of enjoyment of our experience came with the two Budweiser beers I had with dinner. The banana nut bread we purchased on the way out to enjoy over a few days continued to be average. The highlight I will remember is the Necco wavers I was able to purchase at the check out counter, which is in line with the nostalgic feel of what Bob Evans is shooting for. The staff was nice and I liked that there was nobody there at 7pm on a Saturday night. But Bob Evans is average at best and I would not choose to return again if given a choice and would go to another breakfast eatery.
