We ate at Sonnys last night on our way to Florida . We have been looking forward to this since our trip here last year. Not sure why we thought it was the only one in the area, but just learned there are hundreds of Sonnys around! I had the chicken and ribs combo plate which included 1/4 of a chicken (I requested white meat) and three nice sized ribs. My husband had baby back ribs. We both had two very large sides with our meal as well as corn bread or garlic toast. It was just too much food, but so delicious. The sauces on the tables were also great. Our waitress, whose name I unfortunately can't remember was so helpful and when we left, she gave me a fresh drink to go. We definitely will eat here again during our stay in Florida, but hope to visit this particular restaurant when we pass through Brunswick again! read more

Waited almost and hour for takeout last night. Totally unorganized and chaotic. Will never return.

My wife and I - both well into our 50s - went to Sonnys and one of us ordered a beer. The waitress - who looked like a minor - asked to SEE ID ! I thought she was joking. I said to her, I am almost 60, is this a joke? She replied no, we have to ask everyone. A photo ID for a beer? This is how the indoctrinazation starts - to comply with ridiculous requests that have no common sense behind it. Rather than forget the beer, we decided to speak with our greenbacks - we declined to show ID, or forget the beer, and we walked out. Now, I wouldn't have left this review, but not for the fact that as we were leaving, a line of waitresses were lined up at the lobby by the exit. One RUDE waitress decided to shoot a parting remark - which we ignored her unprofessionalism and shouting in a restaurant - when she said (sarcasm mode on) "Ya'll come back SOON now, ya hear?" The remark was totally uncalled for, rude, and disturbed other diners due to her loud voice. Never going to come here again is a given - avoid this Sonny's due to the brain-dead robot servers. BTW, we asked a manager at the next place we ate at, and were told this is NOT a state law, so this was a Sonny's rule, not needed by the state of Georgia. read more

My first time to Sonny's was years ago on a trip to Brunswick, Georgia -- I've been in love with the place ever since, seeking out other locations around the South. In fact, I can't help but speak a little differently, (maybe with a slight drawl) after each visit. Even though Tuesday nights were "All-you-can-eat" festivals, I always stayed true to the Baby Backs -- sometimes ordering two full racks! I had the smoked chicken salad sandwich. Highly recommend it. Our waitress was super attentive. Always appreciated. I wasn't expecting to be impressed, but I definitely was. After hours of fast food options was so happy to find Sonny's seconds off I-95. Brisket Sandwich was delicious, loved the sweet sauce. Our family of 4 was able to get in and out in under 45 minutes, service was quick and very polite. Prices were very reasonable as well. read more

Every other year I used to take the family from Boston to Orlando by car. We discovered this chain and we ate at about 4 or 5 different Sonny's over the years. But this one in Brunswick right off of I-95 is the one we ate at the most. This is not "fine dining". It's a casual family restaurant, sort of like Friendly's only BBQ. We were always pleased at the quantity and quality of food at any of the Sonny's RPBBQ's we ate at. This is really good BBQ food, served quickly by friendly waitresses and the price is quite reasonable. The last time we ate there, there were 6 of us, and I think the total came to about $75 including tip. We left stuffed and it was delicious. Now if only I could get them to open a Sonny's near me. read more

We stopped off on the way thru to Florida. Craving the southern authentic BBQ but most roadside joints were closed. Came across Sonnys. Being we had our dog with us we needed to get takeout. Well I swore I was back home in NY. Karen the employee filling the orders was on the ball. Hustling and so pleasant. There must have been a dozen people that came in at once. Some were regulars and others were people driving through. She didn't miss a beat. I even managed to squeeze in an ice cold beer in a frosted mug while waiting for my order to be filled. We ordered the Sonnys Sampler(you can choose any four meats, w/2 sides) Chicken and pulled pork combo, and Sides of BBQ beans, Mac n cheese and corn on the cob. The food was hot and delicious. I love love loved the BBQ beans slow cooked and perfect consistency, not to mushy or to firm. The 1/4 white chicken was so tender. I was surprised by the flavor of the smoked turkey, most places it is usually dried out. The also have all you can eat salads and choice of all you can eat smoked meats. Turkey was dry, macaroni was "dinty mooreish," and green beans were bland, cornbread was rock hard in the bottom. Won't waste time nor money at any location again...Stopped here while traveling down I-95 to Miami with my hungry, pregnant girlfriend. She called ahead to order to save time and was told "20 mins." We got there in 10min and after waiting another 35 mins I asked if we could have a drink while we continued to wait. Diangilica rudely replied that she hoped that we weren't expecting it for free because "THAT AIN'T HAPPENING." When we inquired about the cause of the wait she said it was for the okra...When she turned and grabbed the food from behind her, I asked to speak to a manager and 5 mins later Amber's reply to our concern of cold food that's been sitting for at least 45 mins was, "WELL I SEE YOU GOT PLENTY TO DRINK (that we purchased) DO YOU NEED ANY MORE SAUCES OR PLASTIC FORKS?" For whatever reason, Amber, like Diangelica thought we wanted free drinks. All we wanted was professionalism and hot BBQ for dinner. They only positive part of the experience is knowing it wasn't 100% personal because Mr. Jerry, Mr. Jim, and other customers were also annoyed with the lack of prompt professional customer service. read more

A solid 3.5 stars. The food is good and the servers are nice. We ordered 3 ribs kids meals, a rib sampler, Mac and cheese, and corn bread. Cornbread was cold which is the reason for the 3.5 stars. But the ribs were perfect, the Mac and cheese was insanely good. The cornbread would have been outstanding if it were warm. Portions are great. Overall, great place to stop if you need a good meal and to stretch your legs while on a road trip. 2 adults and 3 kids are for $40. read more

Was on our way to FL with my 8 yr old niece and she wanted to stop here because she likes Sonny's----we had never been here and won't again! The salad bar was okay but I ordered a chicken salad sandwich ----absolutely NO taste what so ever and it was like they had put it thru a blender or something! I tried to pep it up with some onion from the salad bar --helped a little!! Just not at all what I expected!! The water and the pop both was nasty! They need a filter system!! read more

We used to eat here several times a month, but the attitude of some of the staff put that to rest. We haven't eaten there for probably a year or more and decided to do take out a few weeks ago. They left off a potato salad and said we could pick it up the next day, which was fine as my husband could have it w/ his lunch. The short blond @ the counter was very rude, as usual, when I went in to pick it up. Last night we wanted BBQ, and my husband went over to Shane's Rib Shack. Unfortunately they were closed for renovation so he went to Sonny's instead. When the short blond brought out the order she handed it to him and said "check it". Needless to say we won't be going back to Sonny's in Brunswick again. read more

This web site is as bad as the service, 3rd attempt to remark on bad experience. Went there a couple hours ago, sit in booth for 20 minutes and no one asked us if we were ready to order or wanted anything to drink.Two Waitresses too busy talking personal stuff to male customers next to our table, they ignored us. When we got up to leave, another waitress asked us how was everything and she was told that we never got waited on and she just stood there. Ate at this location several times each month from the time they opened. Went two weeks ago and my elderly mother ordered her usual. 1/4 dark meat lunch chicken with two sides. Always orders this item. It arrived seeming to be visibly dry. Her usual habit is to remove all the meat from the bones and apply sauce prior to eating. She did and took three bites and stated she could not eat it because it was so tough. Called the waitress to make a correction.She said she would give us a senior discount. We get a senior discount anyway. So we asked her to get a manager. She came back stating that my mother had eaten too much for them to do anything about it. Three bites? We asked her to call the manager on duty. No one came to the table for over 20 minutes. We demanded to speak with someone. The manager on duty said that because she'd applied sauce there was no way to verify the meat was actually dry. Never once did they offer to simply get a new serving of chicken. So they finally offered to remove the cost of the chicken itself. Mind you, my mother, at this point, has had nothing to eat due to the place being removed for all this procedural inspection. They removed the senior discount and discounted the chicken which was a discount much less than the senior discount. Called corporate offices. They referred the issue to the local restaurant. The local restaurant called once when I was at work. I returned calls to the restaurant and they never called back. read more
