Hubby and I ate here for the first time. We ordered online and did curbside pick up. Service was not great. My husband had to go back in 3 times to get what we ordered. Once we had it, to start off the BBQ egg rolls were amazing! Hubby had the chopped brisket which he really enjoyed, along with the beans. I had the pulled chicken. Mine was a little dry, I think they used the white meat which is always dry to me. We are from Texas and in Texas when ya order a pulled chicken bbq sandwich, the chicken itself is tossed in BBQ sauce before putting on a bun, here that is not the case, which also makes it taste dry even if Sauce is added to sandwich. Guess that's just my thoughts. In conclusion, check your order before pulling away, and try the egg rolls! read more

Had the wings and ribs, both were very tasty and came out piping hot. Both came out dry and I was able to put sauce on them. All 3 sauces (original, smoke and sizzling) were good, however the sizzling was not very hot. Smoke was good and smokey tasting. I had fries and Mac and cheese, both were just ok. If they had fresh cut fries with a bacon or brisket Mac and cheese they would have been a 5. Will definitely try again. read more

Love this place. Always clean and staff is courteous. We got lucky today when we asked for our favorite server, Amber. She is always quick to acknowledge us and get our drinks. Drive thru takes orders, and brings them to the wrong car! $48 worth of food that I have been waiting for 30+ minutes to get. This is ridiculous. THE BEST '68' is on 48! LOCAL PITMASTERS SINCE '68, that's Sonny's tagline... It seems I've been eating at various Sonny's restaurants for about that long, too! We've seen some changes in that time, including the brand new look cooking up at this and other locations. It's a clean, almost industrial revamp but what really counts is what's smokin' inside! Honestly, this particular location gets my vote as having the nicest, most efficient staff, along with great examples of our favorites on the Sonny's BBQ menu! We happily 'pardoned the dust' of the remodeling process. Most of the dining room work is completed and although it doesn't have that 'traditional' barn wood, antiques and smokehouse flavor, it does feel exceptionally clean and open. We'll take it! Accompanied by my one and only Fab Fiancée, we both went for the Special AYCE Ribs! (AYCE sounds more polite than All You Can Eat, LOL)! We had a choice between St. Louis-style Dry Rubbed ribs OR Sweet & Smokey ribs, along with 2 side(kicks) and bread, all for $15.99. Pretty Smokin' Sweet deal! We both chose the St. Louis dry rub ribs, since we ALWAYS enjoy that variety when we're swinging through St. Louis! The ribs were plenty meaty, with just the right bite. The dry rub gave a tangy spicy, almost make ya sweat note. We both really liked 'em. Fab One got Cole Slaw and French Fries. I got Mac & Cheese and BBQ Beans. Perfect sidekick picks! Her Hottiness was satisfied with just one round of ribs, naturally. I got one reorder. I was fed just right. Yep! Our Sonny's chaperone delivering those dishes of Smokey goodness was Linda. She was so nice and definitely made our night out decision feel right. Thanks for your rib-livery, er, deliveries.... Comfort food. What a great word, conjuring up pictures of mouth watering goodies. That's why families have loaded up in buggies, sedans, vans, station wagons, minivans, hybrids, electrics and 4x4's since 1968, and headed out to Sonny's. Food was good. My husband called it 'clean' bbq. We were both pleasantly surprised by how good the sides were; we had the baked beans, sweet potato, Mac n cheese, coke slaw, and garlic bread. The baby back ribs were fall off the bone and 4 proprietary bbq sauces to choose from. I loved the smoked wings even though they were served cold compared to temperature of all other items on my plate, still good. I also enjoyed the cheddar sausage. Overall good experience and service was good upon being seated... however we were surprised how no one greeted us upon entry and several servers walked by us as we stood at hostess table without saying a word. Service was incredibly slow, we waited almost 10 mins for our order to be taken, food came pretty quick and was decent but it came before we got silverware to eat it with so we waited another 5 mins or so to be able to eat...dinner was getting cold by then. Found this on yelp on our road trip and it didn't disappoint. Got takeout and sat at their picnic table outside. Corn fritters were very good and my son loved the chicken breast. Great food and better service by Amber Ketchum. Amber was the best server we have experienced at a restaurant anywhere in the recent past. She took such good care of our party and had everything there prior to us even thinking to ask for it. This is a rarity in this day and time. After another 15 min I heard my name as they were bagging the items, put in on a counter and it sat there. Two different waitresses. Plus they changed their bean recipe it was really good now it tastes like it came out of a rusty can. After being disappointed earlier this week at a local Bar-B-Q we decided to try again and stop at a familiar name from the past, Sonny's. Wow, we were more disappointed this time. It was by far the worst Bar-B-Q I've ever had. We ordered the pulled pork plate with slaw, beans and Texas toast. The pork was overcooked, chewy and tasteless. The beans were blah. Even adding sauce didn't help. The only good thing was the slaw. Oh, and the toast(hard to ruin toast). I've eaten my last meal at any Sonny's. I also think they have a very strange special: called the Senior Special. Doesn't even start until 1:00. Pretty dumb to have to wait that late to get a special! If you're hungry and you're in the area, try Coyote Rojo for Mexican. You'll get a much better meal. read more

So as usual restaurants being ran by bad managers making poor decisions over pennies. They offer a choose three option for dinner plates which clearly stated choose three and does not say you can't pick all the three the same. Funny enough on this particular day they have meeting to tell the waiters that people can't order that. You can't convince me your losing money by having people order that way. I will continue to go to Sonnys but not the one in Bushnell. read more

About a month ago, I ordered online from here. The food was dry, over cooked and sub standard. The Donut holes were hard as rocks. I sent a notice to this restaurant about the issue. Didn't hear a word back. Yesterday, I tried their food again. The ribs were tough, the brisket was grisley and DRY....and again, the Donut holes were hard, barely any sugar/cinnamon on them, and were ether day old or way over fried. Since I've been here a few times and have had the opportunity to really see what this place is all about, its time for a review... I don't know who these people are that leave less than 5 stars, or what they ordered... but I can make this a very short review. If you love barbeque you'll love this place! I can only speak for Bushnell.. They have a world class pit master. She competes (and wins) on weekends.. she's very much into real barbeque. I am tough to please. Don't use the drive thru. We waited 25 min for an order of fries, a coke, and their "crowd favorite" bbq egg rolls. Two cars came after us and got their food within 5 min. What a mess. If you are driving up I-75 and looking for a quick, but tasty drive thru this is not it. read more
