For a BBQ chain, I like Sonny's. I particularly like the brisquit grilled cheese sandwich with crinkle cut fries. So periodically, I just wanna eat at Sonny's. Last night was my wife's birthday. She got to pick where to eat. Surprisingly to me, she picked Sonny's. It has been a whole, so it sounded great to me as well. We both worked all day, so it was later in the day, and we were seated inmediately. Our server was quick to help and very friendly. Even delivering the bad news that they were out of pulled pork eggrolls, the reason my wife chose to go there for her birthday dinner. In any case, we both had the brisquit grilled cheese. My wife ordered a baked potato, but what she received seemed to be an old one that was baked too long ago. So they immediately substituted fries. The sandwiches were good. I've had them made cheesier (better), but I've also had worse. Hence the 4 stars in my review. All in all, a nice experience. It would've been one star BUT the food was delicious. I did a mobile order and just like my fellow Yelper, I should've stayed away from here. Placed a mobile order which, unfortunately, like other establishments, you must call the number to tell them you arrived. I pulled up and the employee was already delivering food to a car next to me. I did over hear the customer in the car, disgruntled, "well about time". The employee apologized and walked away. As the employee walked away, I called to let them know I'm here. It rang... About a minute and something I got a machine stating that no one is available and it hung up. I called again... After the eighth ring, somebody picked up and asked to hold and I said ok. As I was on hold, I noticed the same employee go outside to smoke her vape and check her phone. I was still on hold. ... About 8 minutes on the phone, it hung up on me. That's when I decided to go inside. I asked the host where the mobile pickup was and was directed to the side where the same employee was taking an order. After the customers left, I asked for my order which was behind her THE ENTIRE TIME, and she handed it to me. The. Same. Employee. Nov 23/19: This was not a bad meal at all. I had the pulled pork combo that came with Baked Beans (they were hot but not overly tasty), coleslaw (not much taste but again at the right temp), corn bread muffin (tasty, moist & a solid addition). The pulled pork was good but not hot enough. The selection of BBQ Sauces were excellent & I chose the "Sweet" sauce. It added tremendously to the taste profile of the Pork. Our server was the stand out point for this meal. His name was "Derek". He was one of the best server that I've had in a while. He was friendly, fast & very effective. He made multiple runs to the kitchen for food & always kept our 40oz drinks filled. If this is to be read by Sunnys Head office...promote this fella!! A definite do-over for us. read more

Try the drive thru window if you're in a hurry. The salad bar is fairly small, but they have plenty of options with two different kinds of greens. The gentleman seating us started things off great by being upbeat and pleasant. Our waitress (Lisa T. ) followed him with the same awesome attitude. Our food was served quick, taste freshly cooked and everything was hot. We were checked on regularly throughout our meal. We started with fried okra ($4.29) and corn nuggets. ($4.29) The fried okra was served with ranch and like the corn nuggets was a nice treat. For entrees we ordered a kids chicken & fries ($5.59), two smoked wings & ribs ($27.58), chicken & ribs ($13.29), fries ($2.59) and pork 3 ways. ($13.79) The wings were good and the ribs were very good. They were moist and the meat sat loosely on the bone. The pork and chicken was also tender and juicy. My absolute favorite was the coleslaw. We always get Sonny's bbq for the Super Bowl. This year I ordered online which was very convenient and fast since I was able to select the exact time I wanted to pick up the food. My husband went to pick up the food and when we got home the Mac and cheese was missing. I was very disappointed in this, as the whole reason I like to order from sonnys is Because of the Mac and cheese. For this reason, I am only giving 3 stars. The rest of the chicken was good , as well as the corn bread. The manager I spoke to on the phone said she would reimburse the portion for the Mac and cheese but I am waiting to see how much that will be . read more

On Feb 9th 2024 I ordered the sampler. Ribs and brisket were good, but the baked potatoe taste d old as did the pulled pork, the corn was so old it was rubbery !, the coke tasted very very odd. There was no reason why the food had to be so bad. When I complained about the corn, they just replaced it with more old, rubber corn. Never going back. We returned to this Sonny's BBQ almost 3 months later. It was on a Saturday afternoon and instead of going inside, we ordered through the drive-thru. I can say we will never do that again. We ordered two brisket plates which we normally love and asked that we get it sliced. I'm sure we weren't given fresh brisket. It was tough, tasteless and most of it small chunks. Does the drive-thru get the old pieces? Even the coleslaw wasn't good. Both our orders of coleslaw was chopped cabbage without hardly any dressing. The sweet potato was good. It was a pretty bad experience for a Sonny's BBQ. Had we ordered inside we would have sent it back. We've just eaten at too many Sonny's BBQ restaurants to know most do a good job. My experience with the Clermont Fl Sonny's BBQ was terrible. The host Michael was extremely rude and basically assaulted me. I pre ordered for curb side pick up, they don't have curb side as stated on their website. Upon entering Michael looked at me like I had three heads when I stated that I placed a carry out order. He then pointed to the carry out counter. I went over and waited and no one came. I stated to Michael that no one was coming. Michael yelled across the room ," I am a host, I seat people." He finally came to the carry put counter and stated "This is not McDonald's baby!" The manger then came and just looked at me saying very quietly. " i am sorry". The first occasion, the person on the takeout window looked at me, went to the kitchen without acknowledging me, and never returned so I left. On the second occasion, the same person on the takeout window, looked at me, went to sit some customers without acknowledging me, went to the kitchen and didn't return without me asking another employee for service. She acted if she didn't want to take my order. Service was very slow. Me and another takeout customer waited about 20 minutes then I asked about the delay then appeared with the orders 5 minutes later packing the meals at the counter. They said something was happening in the kitchen and that they ran out of brisket. I ordered takeout of two meats plus sides. Very disappointed. Food was not hot and not tasteful. After an incredible morning of being outside, some people running 8 mile obstacle course races in Clermont, some people day drinking on sunday funday, all we wanted to do was to nosh on some BBQ. We were tired, and thought that coming here would save us time instead of waiting the lines of good old 4Rivers.... WE WERE SO WRONG! What's worse than a chain restaurant BBQ joint. One who has a slow server, messes up your checks, forgets your food items, doesn't apologize for errors... and the list goes on. And the worse part is, this happened the last time I was here...smh. The food is obviously generic, but still tasty. I like the corn nuggets and the bbq sauces can make up for the mediocre meat options. Welp, yelp.... lesson learned. Not that great but not horrible. They have okay BBQ but certainly not the best in the area. Much better options around but okay as a backup.

So we have been to this location a couple times now and the food is excellent. On this last visit I was not totally satisfied with the service though. The fire chief got excellent service and so did the manager sitting with his laptop at a table near us. The walls got cleaned and everyone else got refills without asking. For all of this to happen the waitress had to pass our table in both directions several times. While the service was a bit spotty, the food was just what we ordered. We shall see what the future holds here as there are very mixed reviews. read more

Sonny's is a huge chain in the south, and I just had to try it once. We tried the brisket and the chicken. The meat was moist and tender, but didn't have the smoky flavor that you expect. We opted for the garlic bread on our sandwiches. It's different, but not something you'd go back for. The fries were hot and crispy, but the baked beans were ordinary. The sauces on the table were also unremarkable. It must be because it is a chain, so in the name of consistency there just isn't that flavor in the food that you come to expect from BBQ. But there's nothing bad here, just ordinary. Our server was very friendly and quick. The place was clean. I think i would go back here, or to a Sonny's, if I didn't have any other choices, or wanted a change of pace. But it wouldn't be my first choice. read more
