Horrible experience! I brought my 4 year old in for a pedicure (was quoted $35 with gel.) and they used regular polish instead. When I asked about the error, the man at the front argued with me, then had the audacity to ask if I even had money to afford the service. Beyond rude, unprofessional, and completely insulting. I ended up stopping my own pedicure because I was so disgusted and could no longer relax, which is what I came in to do. I left midway through my pedicure. As I paid, he loudly told me to "never come back," further humiliating me in front of other customers. What was supposed to be a fun mother-daughter outing turned into the most degrading nail salon visit I've ever had. This place lacks professionalism, courtesy, and basic respect for customers. Do not waste your time or money here. I wish I would've read the more recent reviews before driving 30 minutes to return here. I regret patronizing this place. Editing to add: Less than 3 hours after leaving the Polish has completely peeled off of my daughter's nails. I called the establishment and they told me to "come back in." I expressed I am uncomfortable with this after how I was treated earlier today and in response to that they hung up on me. They also did not clean underneath my daughter's nails or clip/file them at all during the service. See the attached photos for what we received. I paid $55 and had to go elsewhere to complete my pedicure. My daughter is also asking me to fix her nails when it's only been a few hours. read more

This is my fourth or fifth time coming in for acrylics. The day after my appointment my nails were already lifting and a rhinestone fell off. The nails were different lengths and thicknesses. The gentleman working on my nails was hardly even looking down at what he was doing and instead staring over at the pedicure section. He burned my cuticles a couple times with the drill because he wasn't paying attention. One nail cracked two days after the appointment. Just overall a bad set of nails. My other visits have been subpar as well but it's very disappointing knowing I paid $53 plus tip for nails I'm going to have to get redone sooner than I should have to. read more

Tammy , Rude owner, use old materials , they are not the cleanest. I was going there for years but now I go where the customer service is unmatched. They sterilize everything. I have been here a few times. Each time it has gotten worse. The quality is horrible! Two of my nails fell off within 2 days of having them done. I got a full set with basic no chip polish. My friend got a full in with no chip. Her polish has already started chipping and it hasn't been five days. Should be simple but it turned out to be a mess. Toenails look nice! I love the chairs massaging my back and the nice warm foot bath. However, the service, cleanliness and end result of my pedicure left much to be desired. My friend and I got the 2 men working (really more comfortable with female nail techs but what are ya gonna do?) and they were so gruff and impolite. The one told my friend he would NOT do the hot stone deluxe pedicure. No explanation. My guy didn't even move the dang plastic board out of the way for me so I could sit down. He also got the seat all wet and I had to wipe it off with my jacket. Nice touch. While my toenails look great, the bottom of my feet def needed more attention. They're still rough and I wish the guy would've used the cheese grater thing on my soles (hehehe). The polish on my little toes was also very gummy for hours! Almost didn't make it. Glad I wore my flip flops there. The salon itself needs updating. I wouldn't usually nitpick about this but there's COVID and so my bag shouldn't have someone else's dead skin stuck to it ya know? My friend and I came in to get a basic manicure. We both had different people. One of the ladies was trying very hard to convince us to get a no chip and we had to say no a number of times. The lady that did my nails was very rough with the nail buffer. She globed the nail polish on and didn't clean it very well. My friends nails are thick and bumpy. I had been a customer for a while but noticed that it was difficult to get the technician, I think his name is Robert, he sits in the first chair. So I started making appointments for this tech but every time I went, he made some excuse that he had to leave early. Today I made an appointment and the same thing happened. I felt quite disrespected after I had waited there 30 minutes and then was told that he could not do my nails because he had to go to the airport, So I left and went to the new shop on Calumet. That was the best decision I could have made. The shop was much nicer and the techs were eager to help and did their best to please the customer. So I'm going to start out first by addressing wait time. This establishment is no different than any other walk-in nail place you go into. Unless you are going into a beauty/spa/nail salon and have a specific appointment for that time, there is a chance you're going to wait. Even if you do call in for an appointment, just expect it, and plan to go in with patience. That is just how it is. To help avoid nail time road rage ask when they are usually slower, if you are able, try to come during that time. Did I have to wait a period of time before they got to me? Yes. But that said,I got the most amazing pedi and full set of nails. I was not rushed through like some assembly line. All of the techs are very friendly and it is well staffed. My nail tech was very sweet, took time to listen to what I wanted, and did a beautiful job with shaping and design. I will absolutely be back. Even if I do have to wait, so worth it. read more

Racist and very unprofessional. I went in for a soak off and the guy proceeded to cut and peel off nails instead of a soak off and then was very rough the entire time. He didn't clean any tools before or after use either. I tipped 5$ nonetheless and went to pay he followed me and asked me to sign and after i signed he told me that's not my signature and asked to see my id and told me to sign again and again. Zero stars! Horrible service! I went here today for a pedicure and a fill-in. First issue can be seen in the photos. I asked for this yellow which they said they had. And they brought out this exact bottle but apparently something else was in there because this was the result. So after a long wait for my fill-in I had to remind Lee that I was still waiting. He looks at me and says "no one here wants to do your nails you are too picky". He said he remembered me from coming in there before and I was picky. Obviously this is something very rude and unprofessional to say to a customer. And I hadn't been there in over a month. What's more egregious is the fact that they let me sit there for over an hour only to be told "no one wants to do your nails" Needless to say I am outraged. This was actually my second time back. The first time my daughter and I were walk ins and got Calvin. He was so nice and treated us great. I went back today and asked specifically for Calvin and this was like a completely different person. I showed him what I wanted and he agreed he could do it... he barely even filed my nails, was rough the entire time and would not listen to anything I was saying. He made my nails a flat when I asked for curved... he was just horrible. Needless to say my nails were sloppy and I did not leave a tip... This was my first time going to Sonny's Nails. I was nervous since I was getting fakes for the first time since the 80s, but this was close to work and looked clean...so I stopped in. I was told to write down my name and take a seat. Lee told me to pick out a polish and have a seat at his table about 15 mins. later. When he came back, he introduced himself but didn't replace the towel from the last customer. That surprised me. He chatted with me a bit on what I wanted, and talked me into getting gel nails instead. Then he got to work. He was fast, efficient, and my nails came out great...exactly how I wanted them. I had to wait 25 minutes which is okay because all nails salons on the weekend are busy. So be prepared to wait and don't be rude. The only thing is when it's busy the salonist tend to rush so my nails weren't the best but they were good for the price.... This is going to be a long detailed review so feel free to skip to the bottom to see why I gave Sonny's Nails one star. I felt decieved after seeing so many stars given to this buisness but received quite possibly the worst nail services I've ever had. I walked in wanting a full set manicure and the O.P.I pedicure advertised on their website. I was pleased that there was no wait and I was rushed into a pedicure chair once I selected a nail color. I work 12 hour retail shifts so I was looking forward to having "The Works" done to my sad and over calloused feet. Because I'm a retail manager, I am expected to give excellent customer service to ensure the customers in my store are completely satisfied. As a result, I expect the same when I am seeking a service to be done for myself. The girl that was assigned to me never asked what kind of pedicure I wanted done and gave me the most basic buff and polish service on my feet. I graciously accepted that because I felt it was my fault for not speaking up and telling her I wanted a specific pedicure but that's because most nail salons review the different services they provide and which is best suited for you. That didn't happen here. The pedicure alone would have gotten 2 stars but my manicure is what sealed the deal on their one star fate. I asked for a clear full set gel manicure with one little black triangle on each finger with a "Square Oval" shape hoping I'd have something similar to the long elegant nails Kylie Jenner wears so often. I had clear photos of the simple design I had wanted (a clear nail with a small black triangle at the base of my nail). Instead of what I had asked for, I ended up with "Bubblegum Pink" nails with a square style too large for my petite fingers and disatisfying nail art. The full set itself has large gaps in the gel where my natural nail is exposed, especially around my cuticles (which are still in horrible condition and were never touched or pushed back ). I decided to bring that and the round oval shape my nails had been filed into to the girls attention before she got any further but she couldn't be bothered with correcting my nails and said, quote, " I can't do anything about it." She could have started over and done a better job, but instead so she could rush me out, filed all of my nails into complete squares, filed the gel down on ONE HALF OF ONE NAIL (4 of my fingers on both hands had large gaps in the gel ) and tried layering more gel over it. One nail is now lopsided and when I try again to communicate my unhappiness with the results of her quick fix, she in response told me I was, quote, "Picky". I'm not "picky", I pay attention to detail as anyone should that's about to shell out $75 for a service. I wasn't rude nor unprofessional but I was definitely starting to lose my cool with the sheer laziness this girl was displaying. None of my nail art matched, and I didn't expect them to due to human error, but she wasn't even attempting to fill them in completely. After shading in 3, I mentioned that the triangles were not completely filled in and all she said was "Where?" and pretended she couldn't see what I was talking about. To avoid an argument, I just opted for the rough outline of my mini triangles instead. Predictably, she gave me an eye roll and a sigh of contempt and then removed and quickly drew on another 3 triangles. As she was applying this "Bubblegum Pink" nail color to my nails (A color that I did not ask for and assumed was just a base coat), I was treated to the scene of a disgruntled customer that had called the night before to schedule an appointment for her mother and herself as a birthday treat for her mother. When they arrived they were curtly shouted at from across the room that it would be more than an hour wait, if not longer, and to come back later, despite accepting their appointment the night before. Understandably, the woman was upset that these "Professionals" could not be bothered to get up from their station and speak with her face to face to remedy a problem they were clearly at fault for, nor did they offer to compensate her for the inconvenience. My manicure is only 4 days old but looks like a foul grown out full set and it has from the minute I walked out the door. If my nails had been filled in from the get go, I wouldn't have to get a new manicure less than a week later from a different nail salon. The photo of my manicure I'm adding was taken only 2 hours after leaving Sonny's. The inability to offer good customer service, almost zero communication unless it was argumentative, and their unwillingness to fix noticeable errors due to sheer laziness is why I'm giving them 1 star. There is aparently no point in calling ahead to book an appointment because they obviously disregard appointments that are made. Not only would I not recommended Sonny's Nails to anyone, but I would actively dissuade people from going there if I could. read more

Even even will go as far as excellent/superior to other places I have ever went to in my entire life. i would have given them 5 stars hands down. But do the last experience I had there with one of the 2 gentlemen That worked there and worked on my nails on the day in question: literally argued me down making statements like my idea was bad and went on to color my nails to his liking and ignore what I wanted! I have been going to Sonny's since I moved to the area in 2011. They have been wonderful to me for fills (I get gel nails), Pedi's and Waxing. Tammy does the most beautiful designs I have ever seen and I always come out looking great. The other nail techs do a great job (but if I want designs - I see Tammy) Yes there are days I have to wait - just like everyone else but I do not get mad, I am at this place to relax and spend some me time. If I do not have time to wait, then I call ahead and ask if they are busy. My favorite thing about this shop is they know my name and address me by name everytime I walk in the door! While the service was overall pleasant, the quality of the service was not. The manicurists were friendly enough, though seemed to be quite gossip-y. Which is I suppose, expected, at a nail spa. My pedicure was pretty decent, though there were a few times the manicurist clipped my cuticles too short and caused some minor bleeding. This polish chipped within 24 hours, but that's unfortunately what happens sometimes with a plain pedicure, I can understand that. My real issue lies with the no-chip gel manicure that I received. The application seemed quite rushed (there was no "exact" time that my nails were under the lamp, though I didn't question it much). Again, I had the same issues with cuticles being cut too short and causing bleeding. The real kicker, though, is that my polish started to peel within 24 hours. The salon was nice enough to fix the peeling nails for me the next day, and I thought everything was fine after that. Fast forward 3 more days and multiple more nails have peeled and chipped. I'm no longer in the area now and can no longer ask the salon to fix the issue, so I suppose this is partly on me, but I am really incredibly upset that I paid extra for a gel manicure, and wound up with the same results had I just paid for a regular manicure. I'm not incredibly rough on my nails by any means, so this was really unexpected and upsetting. read more
