My one star rating refers to what has happened to us ( twice) via Sonny's concert series/events scheduling methods. My wife's retirement party was originally scheduled 7/31 because Acoustic Rick was scheduled to play 8-11. Our party was 6-8pm. The bulk of attendees purposely chose Sonny's for this retirement party due to Rick playing after party concluded. Weeks after booking Sonny's, food ordered, head count of attendees considered, Sonny's decided to switch performing group to Trailer Trash . The Trash is a much larger draw than Rick. Was too late to change retirement party plans. We ourselves come to Sonny's often from Farmington- a 45 minute drive. This Fri 8/27 Sonny's is substituting T. TRASH to perform instead of the original artist- Acoustic Rick! Since 7/31 didn't pan out ( the basically ruined plans of the retirement party), my wife invited 20 colleagues from work to make up for the jilted plans on 7/31, trying for a 2nd " retirement party " get together to finally hear Acoustic Rick play at Sonny's on 8/27. Dejavue or what- Sonny's is doing it to us again! I had informed SHS classmates to have a repeat gathering to hear Rick play at a mini reunion at Sonny's 8/27. But this week we find out T TRASH is bumping Rick again!! Last 8-13 our last mini reunion turned out great ( Rick played), we expected a larger group of classmates this Friday. I assumed Sonny's puts out their concert music events calendar so that the supporting public can plan on attending entertainment they choose to see. This is not good advertising for future groups to rent out services at Sonny's when they don't necessarily know what they will get from Sonny's in the end. I haven't played mini golf at every mini golf place in Connecticut, but Sonny's Place has been the best in my experience. It's fairly new, so I hope they continue to maintain it, because its a blast. Posting on my mom's behalf. While she generally likes sonny's she had a very poor experience today. She took her four grandkids to sonnys with the expectation of spending the entire day and purchased credits to play accordingly. Two hours later after getting food, at 12:59 she was told a group was coming in at 1 and that they had ONE MINUTE to vacate the place. The whole place was shutting down for a private party. She was not told this at 11 when they arrived. She waited 10 minutes for the manager to come out and he told her multiple times that he was sorry but offered no relief until my mom asked. While they gave her a 50$ credit to go back, it wasnt a $50 refund, which would have been more appropriate so she could have taken them elsewhere for the remainder of the day. read more

The hottest spot in Somers for adults as well as kids! I can't say enough about the place! Good food, lots to do, free to go there you just pay for things as you do them! Miniature golf, go carting, rock climbing,arcade for kids,zip line,all kinds of grilled food, all kinds of ice cream, immaculate grounds and lastly a beautiful bar area for the 21 and older crowd with live bands all for free! We like to come here for something to do in the summer with our daughter. She loves the arcade and the mini golf. My husband loves the go-carts, driving range, and batting cages. There is plenty to do here and I find the prices to be reasonable. The party area looks amazing, but I haven't been to a party there. If you are looking for food, it's not the best. Everything is extremely greasy and heavy. They have great ice cream, but not my go-to place. For some reason I cannot understand, they refuse to serve hard ice cream in a kid's size, you can only get the regular size. My three year old loves mint chocolate chip, but it's just way too much ice cream for her and I refuse to waste my money on something she won't finish. Overall, a fun place, but don't come hungry. read more

I brought my kids here while on vacation and everything was okay until the end of the day. The attractions and food were a bit overpriced but that seems par for the course. Then before we left the kids wanted to ride the carousel once. We had four dollars left on the card, enough for both of them to ride. Then when we got to the front of the line we were told I would also have to pay to accompany them on the carousel. The problem is, my 4 year old was not tall enough to ride alone, so the day ended with her in tears and both of my kids listing everything they hated about this place on the ride home instead of remembering anything fun. After spending almost 100 dollars in food and games it's pretty sad that it had to end with tears and bad memories because they were too greedy to let a parent accompany their small child on a ride. I still have a card with the 4 bucks on it if anyone wants it, cause my kids definitely don't want to go back. read more

Bathrooms were closed promptly at 11 on Saturday night leaving many with no place to go but in the bushes. I don't understand how there is no restroom provided while people are still playing mini golf and finishing up go-karting. Some people were just sitting down to eat ice cream!? Very disappointed in Sonny's. I have been going there since they've opened and always enjoyed myself. Recently with the addition of the carousel I've been able to bring my three-year-old granddaughter who just wants to stay on the carousel over and over and over again. I've taken her four or five times over the past six or seven months, never had an issue. Tonight I take her on the carousel and the kid running the carousel charges me and my granddaughter, this was a first. This never happened before. Here I have a problem. she's too small to go on by herself so I have to stand next to her. I don't want to go on the ride. I have no desire to go on a carousel but they have you by the you know what. Why on earth would you all the sudden start charging parents to stand there next to their kid or grandchild to ensure there safety? My wife went on the next time and tried to sit on one of the horses next to my granddaughter and the kid again just doing his job told her you can only stand there you are not allowed to sit. So I have to pay to stand there. Terrible move Sonny's terrible terrible terrible. Shame on you. Buckland mall is 1 dollar and I can ride for free. Guess who is getting my carousel money? read more

I called ahead,was told Go Carts were running,told me all about age limits etc,. Drove an hour to get there, and they were closed for the season, but "batting cages are open and mini golf... No responsibility taken for a wasted drive, to get business. Arrogant or stupid. My son was devastated, they just stared at us. How hard would it have been to give us a ticket for next season? Fun place for the kids. Lots of games and attractions to keep them occupied for hours. The only word of caution I have is their use of pre-loaded cards to pay for all the games. While purchasing a game of bowling the card reader repeatedly turned red and stated that the card could not be read. After three tries it turned green and accepted the card. However, we soon learned that my nephew had been charged all three times (he was given three games though he only wanted one). I noticed the same "glitch" on several other games where the reader flashes red, states that it did not read the card and quickly flashes that you were charged. It's very easy to miss if you aren't looking for it, especially if you are a child. While you are not exactly "ripped off", you are charged multiple times for something you might only want to use once. read more

Went there with a Gift Card. Connecticut has no expiration on gift cards. Told due to turn over last year your card was cancelled. You should of use it. Was question if I had paper work, treated like I stole the thing. It was a gift that I was going to use. Was offered nothing in return besides a bad experience. I had fond memories of the place but now they are trashed. Their machines don't work half the time and their so call zip line they put you in a chair wheel you up then zip down no trees or anything? This place was drastically understaffed for a nice Sunday. The girl working at the prize redemption counter couldn't really be bothered by children. The restrooms here have always been sketchy too. Last year there were fluorescent tube lights just leaning against the wall in stall, this time around the stall was just gross.
