I came here a few years ago for a breast ultrasound and had a wonderful experience. Since then, I went to The Huntington Hospital in Pasadena (Eleonor and Randall Breast Center) and was anxious about the mammogram results they gave me. They requested an ultrasound in addition to my mammogram. They made it sooo difficult for me to even book an ultrasound with them as I needed an approval from my OB (who is M.I.A). It's like: Why?! They're the ones asking me for an ultrasound and they have the ability to take said ultrasound- why do I need to get approval (aka another written referral) from my OB?! Insane! I'm not sure that Huntington even reads the patient's medical history as I had stated that I'd had a breast reduction (which creates scar tissue). I decided to come here for a second opinion. They were able to get my records from The Eleonor Breast Center. It was so much easier and smoother to book an appointment here. The radiologist that sent me the report here at Sono Center obviously took my medical history into consideration. They suggested a follow up ultrasound in a few months, which I appreciate. Their prices definitely went up but you get what you pay for in convenience, friendliness and just the fact that it's really hassle-free. They have a large validated parking lot and they're located on the first floor of the building. The place is very clean and cozy. I got my results the next day - which I appreciate very much as I was really stressed out over my results! read more

I have visited the Sono Center for many years (annually) because I want to have the best chance of early detection if something is brewing. Between an annual a mammogram and the Sono imaging, I feel as confident as I can. The imagining is done efficiently and takes only about 25 minutes. The staff is welcoming and will explain things along the way. The process itself involves the patient on their back and an ultrasound unit guided manually by the technician over a comprehensive area of the chest (including armpits and down to the upper ribcage). The cost has risen over the years but they often offer a discount which I try to take advantage of. Unfortunately they don't work with insurance, but if you have an HSA account you can use those funds to cover the cost. read more

This place is tucked into a office building in Old Town Pasadena. It is ion the back near the parking area on the first floor. The Sono Cine is a different kind of breast exam that is highly accurate at dectiecting abnormalities. Dr Kevin Kelly is an exprert at reading these and has trained the young woman who operates the machine we'll. I have been going here for years. I initially sought it out as an alternative to mammograms and radiation. Dr Kevin Kelly has advanced technology so far that prevents breast it is better and they can deduct even smaller cancer cells than the mammograms. What girl likes getting her boobies squashed only to find out you need more squashing and an ultrasound? On top of that, you can't eat or sleep until you get your results days later... Having Dense breasts sucks!!!! A regular mammo even a 3D mammo DOES NOT always give accurate readings for this type of breasts. I have had a few "call backs" and then follow ups for 2 years. You he want goes up and down each breast slowly as well as your armpits. The machine makes a beeping sound when it's time to move the next section. This process is completely painless, quick and gives us sense breast Queens "peace of mind!" *No, they do not take insurance. However, they will give you a printed receipt to turn in directly to your insurance company. You just need to file a claim. No biggie. *The cost is $395 for new patients/$350 for returning patients. I am reminded of my annual appointment, scheduling is easy, and the paper work can be done online or when you arrive to your appointment. They take you on time and the appointment takes less than a half hour. The parking is ample and they validate, yeah! I did get the October discount, though it is still pricey. Why our medical insurance doesn't pay for some or all of it is amazing! I feel any lumps or irregularity will be detected with this service. Thank you! read more

Follow up- Since posting my review, Dr. Ohanian did respond. He called and apologized several times for what had happened with my scan and the radiologist who read my scan. I explained to Dr. Ohanian in more detail what had happened and expressed my concerns. He listened and was again apologetic. He said that things had changed in the office and the radiologist would no longer be with the company. In my previous review, I said I would not recommend having a scan at Sonocenter. However, I never expected Dr. Ohanian to call and make changes because of my review. I never felt the machine/ breast scan was the problem. It was the office staff and radiologist-the machine is only as good as the staff running it. In the future, I would go back and have my breast scans performed. read more

The Sono Cine Center is a very pleasant experience unlike a mammogram! Mammograms are painful and horrible and not totally reliable. This ultrasound is where doctors send you if something shows up in the mammogram. It's painless and comfortable in a calming and pleasant environment. The staff are warm and friendly and helpful they even validate for parking. It's pricey but an extremely better experience without the radiation or smashing your breasts into pancakes. You pay more but your diagnosis is much more definitive. read more

I have dense breasts and would get recalled when I had mammograms done and then I would have to go and get an ultrasound. It was very nerve-racking to have to go through all of that. I loved Dr. Kevin Kelly and was so happy to refer this business to all of my friends with dense breast tissue like me. Never again. Now that Dr. Kelly is gone things are very different. I just had my SonoCine this week and had a negative experience. The staff and techs were great. But ..... I received my report yesterday morning (gone are the days of meeting with the radiologist after your exam). My report was normal but there was a note that a new benign appearing mass did not have previous handheld device imaging. That's it. Return in one year. Great! I called and asked what did it mean that there were no previous images with a handheld device because I had been going for years. They said they'd call me back. By the end of the day I received my report with an addendum: that I now need a diagnostic mammogram or MRI with contrast. What?! When I called the office they could not explain this new addendum. They said that the radiologist now recommends a diagnostic mammogram when you haven't had one in a year and haven't been to their facility in a year. I missed my SonoCine in 2023.... When I asked why my first report didn't say this in the first place -- why I received an addendum after I asked a question-- they had no answer Women like me came to Kevin Kelly to avoid what I will now go through. I am very disappointed and the addendum after receiving a normal report has caused great anxiety. I will be looking for a new place to have my SonoCine. read more

Horrible experience! They claim they have high level technology and expert radiologist, but unfortunately it's not true. Don't be fooled by their lies. They don't give you correct diagnosis and even charge you more. Very unprofessional staff, my daughter faced more painful experience during the scan and even the results were not accepted by the doctor in UCLA we had to get the scan done again! They charged us $400 just for the scan which cost only $250 max else where with accurate readings and results. read more
