Wow, what a great experience! This is a fabulous shop and the owners are fantastic. We stopped in on a whim and ended up staying for over an hour because we were helping pour candles. Jewelry is fabulous as well, we each bought several pieces. Do yourself a favor and come in here!

Had an amazing time with family here. Ricci was really fun and had the patience to deal with all of us for 2 hours. Definitely recommend!

Found this little gem for our girl's trip to Sonoma. After days of wine tasting, we were able to book a private candle making class. The owner was incredible and knowledgeable about the entire process. It was something different to include on our trip. You get to pour your own candles and make your own labels. It's in a cute little village (Jack London) and has plenty of parking. Prices are definitely reasonable and it was a perfect ending to my girl's trip.

    Smells so good!!

Awesome candle making experience. Brought our beverage of choice and had a fun time being a chandler. My first candle making experience. Wine tasting with various wines we brought in while making friends was an awesome unique experience! Make this part of your Sonoma experience!!

This was such a wonderful and unique experience that all of us can't stop talking about. We did a girls' trip to Sonoma for our friend's birthday and thought it would be fun to make our own candles. The owner, Ricci, took such great care of us. We had mimosas and learned all about being chandlers. We got to pick our scents, create our own blend, and select our custom labels. Her attention to detail was exceptional and she wanted to provide the most fun and exciting experience in candle making. We can't wait to do this again!

A phenomenal couple that owns this place with beautiful hand crafted candles. They didn't have a scent readily available so they let us pour our own candle with a custom label for pick up later!! so excited to have made this memory on our family vacation!!

    3 beautiful scented candles!

Their inventory is dominated by your typical cultivars of philodendrons, anthuriums, pothos, etc. Most of these plants are widely available at garden centers and other plant stores. Even the carnivorous plants and staghorn fern they had are varieties I've commonly seen elsewhere. They also carry spray painted tillandsias, a practice I dislike because it obscures the plant's natural appearance and is something I generally associate with novelty retail rather than horticulture. I visited hoping to find some unique specimens, such as uncommon orchids, metallic leaved begonias, rocklike pseudolithos, or other harder to find collector plants. Casual indoor plant owners would probably find this store adequate, but I'd recommend those looking specifically for rare or unusual plants to skip this place. Update: Soon after writing this review I got a very emotionally charged message from the owner who mentioned that my review is a "public dig" and asked "Is it your goal to damage a women owned and run small business?". It leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I leave an honest respectful review (all I did was highlight who this store would be good for!) and I get a response like that. Especially ending in her saying "I hope you have a better day than I now will have". It's all very unprofessional.

First visit to Crimson Horticultural Rarities on Piedmont Ave but a frequent visitor to their former location in the Temescal Neighborhood and bought my first air plant about 10 years ago. Floor staff friendly, provides assistance and advice. Ended up with a Swiss Cheese plant (monstera adansonii) kokedama which is the Japanese art of growing plants in a moss-covered ball which is definitely a conversation piece. Pricing on the higher side so I visit for the unique arrangement or rare plant I haven't found. Crimson Horticultural Rarities also provides full service event arrangements and indoor plant design for your place.

The other day when I was lunching at Everest Curry House (amazing Nepalese food!!), I decided this is the day I need to go check out Sustainable Exchange. This store is all the good feels. Many natural materials and fabrics, beautiful artisan style soaps sans heavy perfumes or dyes, scrubby brushes for your dishes, face, and body, and just a plethora of great things for your home, or as gifts. I bought two long handled brushes for body scrubbing, some incense, a mushroom cocoa packet, and a face scrubber. And, the gentleman working (maybe the owner?) was so friendly and personable. Will definitely be frequenting this shop!

I love that they carry Griffin Remedy products. An all-organic SF-founded company that makes beautiful bath products to fill all my glass jars? Awesome. Their formulations are simply the best. Sustainable Exchange also has an excellent selection of zero waste cleaning tools and an array of cute gifts and local artisanal items. Browsing is like a little adventure because there are so many things to see arranged all over the store. Do you need lip balm? Food? Kaftans? Coconut fibre sponges? Flouride-free toothpaste? Dish soap? Chocolate? Bar soap? Honey? Marin themed things? Essential oils? Honestly if you need something random, it's worth checking to see whether Sustainable Exchange carries the zero waste organic version of it!
