I haven't ordered firewood before and decided after so many pro yelp reviews to get it here. Prior to ordering a firewood delivery I was buying boxed firewood from local grocers. That wood I got in boxes was much better. It burned clean, smoke free and heated my living room. They were a day late and the wood I got from SCFW smokes so much I can't open the doors of my fireplace without opening the windows which pretty much defeats the point. It's hard to get it to catch using starters and kindling. Most of the pieces are massive and too big to light. I have used several different techniques to make the fires and its always the same problem. Smoke smoke smokey smoke. Guess I need to buy an axe. I have to constantly tend to the fires to keep the wood lit. Should have kept buying boxed wood that lit easily lasted a long time and didn't fill my home and neighborhood with smoke. Called Michael at SCF on Thursday. Wood was delivered on time Saturday. Great turnaround! Additionally my neighbor across the street split the cost with me and Michael was more than accomodating to dump half at my house and half at my neighbors. Wood looks very well seasoned, a nice variation of size, but all cut to approx. 16 inches. Was on time and provided a receipt. Will update this review again this week when we get some rain to let you all know how it burns. Almond wood was a nice surprise over the typical other varietals one can get. Should burn nice and long. We highly reccomend them! read more

Bought a 1/2 cord last January after moving into a house that had a fireplace. The wood was amazing. It was dense white oak that burned hot and long. It was was a no- brainer to call Mike again for a full cord for this up-coming winter. Mike delivered the wood on time as promised. We were thrilled that it was the same high quality wood we got last year. Have already had 2 fires this fall and we could not be more happy with the product. I bought firewood from Michael Vlastnik based on all the great reviews. I purchased a cord of the White Oak, also because of the excellent reviews. The wood is useless. It smolders and even when it burns it is not a hot burn. I did call Michael to complain and he did come over to look at it, and said it looked OK, and no one else complained. I paid $450 and he did not offer any refund or offer to take the wood back. My shed is now full of wood I cannot use, with no room to get more wood from someplace else. Sonoma county firewood seemed like an easy company to deal with over the phone. I set up a delivery and told him the cross street of where our street was and set up a delivery. Upon arrival the owner was irritable and unpleasant and told my wife that I misrepresented our location, actually said that I was a liar. We are 3 miles up the street. I didn't think it was an issue as he was already driving from Santa Rosa to Sonoma, so what's an extra 3 miles on top of the 30 prior. I gave him our address, shouldn't be a surprise you have gps right? He harassed and intimidated my wife enough that she gave him an extra 50 dollars cash on top of the 815 cash we already promised him for two cords. The load was transported uncovered in the rain which basically ruined it for a few months, we put a tarp over it immediately but will have to pick up another cord for this season. I don't know if it was delivery or improper seasoning but even the rounds we tried to burn bubbled and hissed from the end cuts. All in all not a good transaction. read more

We were looking for some quality firewood at a reasonable price, I went on craigslist and actually called 3 other places before calling Mike. Although the White Oak was a bit more expensive he told us it was as good as it gets, burns slow and hot. He was right on the money, he delivered a half cord the same day and even threw in a couple more pieces no charge. The wood is beautiful, it burns very slow and warms the entire house no problem. I pretty much dislike Yelp, think it's a site for whiny, entitled, brats to vent when they don't get their way. But when I receive exemplary service and product, I like to come here to let others know about it. After hearing me complain about trying to contact a few other firewood companies without getting so much as a return call (how do they stay in business?), a man at my work suggested I call Sonoma County Firewood. I called Mike last night, and he wasn't even annoyed that I called while he was at the Warriors game! I specified I wanted white oak. I love it because it burns long and really puts out the BTUs. He said he could be here today with some, and I texted him my address. Easy peasy. He called this morning to confirm, and right on time, dropped off a VERY generous cord of the most gorgeous seasoned white oak. He didn't stack it, but I didn't arrange for that service... I'm one of those weirdos who actually enjoys stacking firewood myself. There's no better way to warm up on a chilly day. Unless it's by the fire that now is burning merrily in my woodstove, fueled by Sonoma County Firewood oak. White oak is never cheap, but is economical because of it's slow-burning quality and heat output, and SCF's price was very fair.
