The Depot is way better than you expect for anywhere in Ironton. It has a pretty good sushi menu. The atmosphere looks upscale but the prices aren't high though. It for sure is the nicest place in the area. The service is pretty competent if not kind of slow. I had the vegetable roll which is amazingly cheap. It's about $3 for each. The sushi menu is pretty big and there's lots of options. It's also fresher than anywhere else around. They make it when you order it so it may take a while. In an area with not many vegetarian options this is somewhere to go. The service is kind of slow as it took a few minutes for a server to take my order. If you're looking for something good in the area go to the Depot. It's without a doubt the best restaurant in Ironton. Went there with the family last week. Bread was good, crab cakes mediocre but the T-bone special was one of the worst steaks I've ever had. Way too thin and seemed like had been frozen a long time. I ordered it medium rare and although it was "pinkish" inside, it had no juice. Just dry and tasteless and difficult to cut. How do they serve that with straight face and charge $25? 2.5 actually but I hate downgrading stars. I was in town nearby for work and something attracted me to The Depot. The exterior was charming and the inside I expected by the name to have more of a pub atmosphere than a sit down restaurant but whatever. Staff was incredibly friendly so no complaints. After glancing at the menu I concluded that if you took a group of people there each of you could sample cuisines from different continents. The menu is so diverse if you don't find something you want to eat there, then something is wrong with you! Hence it is what I see as an identity crisis....... MENU Is it a sushi restaurant? Japanese? Or a steakhouse? Seafood? Or Italian? Pizzeria perhaps? ITS ALL of them apparently. Reminds me of the phrase "jack of all trades, master of none" FOOD Crab cake appetizer was "okay" I am not going to say I disliked it, The teriyaki chicken was bland and rubbery, vegetables were okay as was the white rice although I don't know how you could mess that up. I can mess up boiling an egg but I am confident I could manage chicken with more flavor than that. FINALLY Flies I know sometimes that happens an annoying fly or two in an establishment but this took it to a new level, on to the next city The Depot can disappear in my rear view. read more

The restaurant is good, and they have a lot of variety. They have Asian, Italian & American cuisine (as well as other types). The service is good, no complaints. I am not a fan of the atmosphere. Very compacted and not private. There are also train tracks right next to the window so if you sit in the booths next to the railroad you'll have a loud train next to you. read more

We had a party of 8 and everything started out great. The food was great. Our service was ABSOLUTELY terrible. The waitress brought everyone's food out but one person. She did not even notice. She even came back to the table several times AFTER dropping off the food and still said nothing. We thought maybe it was taking longer for that one meal. We finally had to ask where the food was. She forgot to put it in. She said sorry they just started it and it would just be a few minutes. It was at least another 20 minutes later and after the entire table was done eating, when it finally came out. She did nothing but say sorry. Absolutely ridiculous. They were very busy and I understand that but to not even acknowledge one person sitting with no food is not acceptable. This is our favorite place to go when we get a chance to dine without kids. Today however, we sat for 15 minutes before anyone asked about taking our order. We had been waiting to ask a question about the menu. After this, a large group came in, and we were ignored for another 15-20 minutes. I should mention that there were only two tables occupied when we arrived. When the server finally came to take our order, she did not write anything down. She then came back five minutes later to ask my wife what she wanted as her side. This place has phenomenal food, a great atmosphere, and usually great service. Today is not the day for great service apparently. I will update my post after the meal. Update: New waitress. She has been to our table more times in ten minutes than the first one had been in an hour. Food was fantastic, as always. Been here several times and it's always been fine - nothing more, nothing less. The atmosphere is nice as they have left historic touches from it's former life as a train depot. However, it's always chilly and I've had to fine with my coat on. The menu is odd with food from various cuisines. The sushi is good but not as good as you would get from a Japanese restaurant. The rest of the food is fine as well but not as good as you'd get at a specialty place. Overall, a decent place but not high on my list of places to eat. read more

There were off-putting elements to this experience It started off with a pleasant, energetic waiter, he remained positive except he would not take the steak back that was ordered rare and came out medium not rare. There were parts of the meal that were acceptable, the potatoes the scallops and shrimp but we were served iceberg lettuce for the salad with two grape tomatoes and a small slice of cucumber. This place was cool. I would definitely go here if you are in Ironton. I had the Ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus with a sauce that I can't remember on top. They got my temperature correct and the seasoning was on point. I couldn't have asked for a better steak. The only thing I would change is to have just a little more sauce. Service was awesome.
