After checking on my insurance and finding out how much I was covered for ($4000) he decided I needed a few crowns. CACHING for him! He filled one of the old fillings and then did a crown on the one behind it. When the new crown was applied, it cracked. Instead of taking it off and putting a temp back on, he glued the crack and ordered a new crown. When I went in for the new crown, the old crown was of course glued on and it took over 30 minutes of grinding, picking and scraping to get the cracked one off. IMMEDIATELY after the numbing wore off, the tooth next to the crown, that had just been filled, started to ache. I couldn't eat on that side and anything cold drove me through the roof. I went back in to see what the problem was and was told I didn't have the right kind of toothbrush and I was brushing wrong. Also, I had a nerve showing because of plaque. It's funny that I didn't have that problem before the old crown was PRIED OFF!!!! My feeling is that a nerve was exposed during the process of removing the cracked crown and he did not want to take responsibility for it! He applied desenseitizer to the tooth and said I should be fine. Then to make matters worse, at checkout I was told I owed $50.00+ because the insurance only covered part of the charge. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back and will be filing a complaint with my insurance. I now will need to find another dentist to fix this mess!

I'm glad I checked Yelp before going into a closer dentist! I went in today for an overdue, routine…read morecheck up. I did all of my intake paperwork, the front desk lady was super nice and helpful, the hand sanitizer they had was a nice brand of hand sanitizer (that gives a LOT when you pump too!), there was only one other person in the sizeable waiting room, the front desk lady also watched my bike for me, and the dental assistant and dentist were both so kind and walked me through everything they were doing/were going to do. Sadly I only remember the name of the dental assistant (Crystal), wish I could name everyone who helped me! I didn't have to wait long (I did arrive early to do first time patient paperwork), x-rays were over fast, Crystal also sanitized the lead vest after I used it, and the dentist was in shortly after and explained my x-rays to me. I was supposed to be in just for an x-ray first, but because they had time they asked if I just wanted to knock out my cleaning then and there! The cleaning was fast and thorough - I felt/heard Crystal polish EVERY individual tooth, and then after she rinsed my teeth she went back over teeth that still had stains! I had HEAVY stains, being a smoker and a "drink coffee all day" person. After Crystal, the dentist also took two other tools over my problem spots! Waiting for the dentist to come back in was maybe the longest wait, wasn't even that long - maybe ten minutes? And keep in mind this is already extra so I have no complaints! They also spent extra care on my "hard to reach" area, Aka where my bottom permanent retainer sits. After they were done, they asked if I had any questions and they answered all of them honestly and backed them up with facts so I understood. I also got a goodie bag of a toothbrush, small dental floss container, and travel sized toothpaste. Then I was walked to the front, made my 6-month follow up appointment (they also gave me a card with the date and time of it plus their address and phone number), and was out. All in all, took maybe an hour and a half. Location is also easy to find! My insurance (Tricare prime) covered everything, too.

There was a constant theme of failing to disclose important information to me, lack of empathy, and…read moreDr. Taylor was rude at times. After spending thousands of dollars at this office, I was never treated like a valued customer. -Crown Delivery (Nightmare) I went in the office for the delivery of my crown on #31. I was in pain the moment the assistant started to take off my temporary crown. Dr. Taylor then gave me a series of injections to numb me. Those injections were ineffective and I still felt severe pain while the assistant prepped my tooth. This led to clear frustration and mistreatment by Dr. Taylor. I spent 2 hrs at this appointment for the crown delivery and I was in pain the entire time. The lack of empathy, poor explanation and flat out rude response to my questions by Dr. Taylor destroyed my confidence in this dentist office. -Failure to Receive Treatment Plan The dentist failed to give me my treatment plan after my initial visit. I had to ask several times for my plan before I received it. Once I received my treatment plan I was shocked because it contained several treatments that were not discussed in the initial appointment. I was initially told I needed 2 root canals and to replace an old dental bridge. Turns out there was several cavities, a deep cleaning and a crown needed on #31, I was never made aware of. No one in the office made any effort to go over my plan or asked if I had questions regarding the treatment plan when it was finally handed to me. -Failure to Disclose Crown Materials I was not given the option to choose my crown material for #30. I was told they would be using porcelain and did not think about the possibility of other options being available. I received my treatment plan after getting the temporary crown on #30, the price was crazy expensive and no one at the office went over it with me so I started researching online all the different treatments. I learned there are several types of crown materials with different cost and durability. I asked the dentist at my following appointment if I could get the rest of my crowns in a different material. He then advised me on the 3 other material types I could choose from. I determined porcelain was not the best option for me and chose a different material for the remaining crowns. Why was I not given the option to choose my crown material in the first place? -Failure to Disclose Cost of Crown I went in one day for a root canal on #12, but I decided I wanted to finish the crown on #30 before starting #12. They placed a temporary crown on #30 and told me to come back in 3 weeks for the final crown. When I went to check out I was hit with a $400 bill for the crown that no one disclosed to me prior to the work being started. -Deep Cleaning Consent Form & -Failure to Go Over My Chart Prior to my deep cleaning I was told to sign a consent form stating "I understand I have periodontal gum disease". I was very confused because I was never told I had a gum disease. When I asked the assistant to clarify, she asked me " did the dentist show you the screen of how all your teeth look and go over it with you". I told her no he did not. The dentist then reviewed my chart with me and determined I do NOT have periodontal gum disease. Why did I have to sign a consent form stating something that is NOT true in order to receive the deep cleaning treatment? Why did the dentist not go over my chart with me in the initial appointment? Based on my experience I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Dr. Nistar combines thorough technical knowledge and professionalism with a welcoming, friendly manner that could set even the most nervous patient at ease. Moreover, she works with the finest precision that I have ever experienced. I have been to other dentists who installed fillings in a hurry and caused some misalignment with my bite; Dr. Nistar, on the other hand, took the time to make everything perfect. (Also, everyone who has had dental work knows that the delivery of the anaesthetic shots is the scariest/most painful part of the procedure, but Dr. Nistar has such a deft hand that I barely noticed them when they were being administered.) Dr. Nistar's staff members are also top-notch. Their friendly, comforting chairside manner is clearly not the result of artificial training, but a natural fitness for patient care. The schedule is superbly well-organized, and I have never been left waiting there; they provide detailed, individualized, genuinely sympathetic dental care, while simultaneously maintaining an industrious and efficient professional ethic which ensures that all patients feel that their time is valued. I had avoided going to the dentist for nearly a decade, and so I felt no small amount of trepidation when I finally scheduled an appointment, but I quickly realized that a great dental visit can be not just painless, but even enjoyable. I live nearly thirty minutes away, and there are countless dentists between my home and her office, but after experiencing such a high level of care, I would not even consider going anywhere else.
