Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Bacon & Parmesan

Son'z was my pick to honor the birthday King! There were other steakhouses on the island but this one had all his favorites on the menu! Plus it was close to the resort we were staying at. I already knew we weren't driving 30 mins for food. I didn't want any upsets on this special occasion so Son'z it is! And Son'z did NOT disappoint. Let's talk about ambiance. We walked into the beautiful Hyatt Regency, through the hotel to the right a small sign above a staircase welcomed us to the restaurant. Once you walk down you see the beautiful view which overlooks water and a waterfall, swans swim around which makes a beautiful view. The ocean in the background is breathtaking. Service - Our waitress Kayselynn never missed a beat and the manager came over twice to check in. Servers who assisted were equally nice and polite. Let's get into it! Calamari- Excellent! Ragu Short Rib Pasta - Excellent! Lobster Tail - Delicious! Complimentary bread and butter - YUMMERS! Drinks - Great! Overall this was a solid steakhouse, there are only a handful of steakhouses so I'm grateful for this one being close to us! Hyatt is simply beautiful!

Outstanding Lobster and Brussels@ Son'z Steakhouse!

She treated me to Maui for my birthday and Son'z Steakhouse was her choice for my Bday dinner. Located inside the GORGEOUS Hyatt Regency Resort that looks more like a Park Hyatt, this honestly may have been the best dining experience that I've EVER had, and no I am not being a prisoner of the moment.. Lol. So much so, we're still in Maui as I write this review and I NEVER write reviews this fast. Let's start with the restaurant itself. Picture literally eating a meal in paradise. Can't get that at any of the restaurants in mainland USA. Our table was on water's edge and had beautiful swans swimming around at night. The waterfall added to the dramatic scenery as well. The food was ridiculously good. She chose Son'z because I love a good Ribeye, however, I guess my lunch was heavier than I thought because it stuck with me for 6 hours and I had to eat light :(. That said, I chose the grilled lobster tail and she went with the shortrib Ragu. My lobster tail ranked right up there with Nobu's and that's without me having an appetite. She loved her shortrib Ragu and after I tasted it, I agree 100%! Our server Caselyn was delightful and does her job with ease. The manager checked on us at least three times as he did with all of the tables, making sure his patron's experience was nothing short of amazing. If you're ever lucky enough to be treated to a trip to Maui like I was or you have to do what most folks do and pay for it yourself.. Lol, please do yourself a favor and put Son'z Steakhouse on your must do list, you'll definitely be blown away like we were!!!!

WOW and PHENOMENAL. This was such an incredible place to dine at. We sat along the water and I felt like we had the best view in the house. The place is absolutely gorgeous. The staff was equally friendly and helpful and also personable which I loved. Our server was truly incredible with navigating my daughter's many allergies, and took so much care in speaking with the chef to also avoid any cross contamination down to the type of oil used in their fryer. I appreciate that level of care and professionalism so much. I started with a couple of non-alcoholic drinks and they were tasty, sweet and refreshing. I had the escargot as an appetizer. As someone who hates clams, muscles-- anything of the sort I was worried about not liking it after my husband told me to expect it to taste like that. THE ESCARGOT IS DELICIOUS. It's like the most balanced butter, herb flavor alongside a mushroom like taste and texture. I wish I would have ordered a second round to devour alone. We even got more butter brought to our table unprompted for our rolls they must know how enjoyable it is. Bacon Mac and cheese was wonderful, Smokey and cheesy. And you know what? The portions were actually very filling none of us could finish our entres. Wagyu steak was cooked to perfection the way my husband likes it. My food was also nothing short of incredible with the short rib tasting heavenly. I would recommend this dining experience to anyone who appreciates good, quality food done passionately with this menu. It was nice dining here, even with a toddler in tow. They had a kids menu and crayons ready for my daughter along with a high chair. If I had only one negative feedback it would be that the bathroom door has a chunky gap in the first stall and that's it. Everything else was excellent and enjoyable and I will continue to rave about what a charming dining experience this was Oh, and they do parking validation for the vallet so we didn't have to stress about parking.

Catch of the day.

We stayed at the hyatt & we were not wanting to walk far to have dinner for my bday. Im so glad we decided to come here. Everything was delicious. I had the catch of the day it was $52 but worth it. It came with mashed potatoes & they were so yummy. My wife had the chicken, she loved it as well.

My wife and I decided to try out their happy hour menu before walking around Lahaina. We tried their mahi fish tacos 10/10, the truffle Parmesan fries 9/10, and the wagyu meatballs 8.5/10 Definitely need to come back and try their regular menu items but i would 10000% come back to eat those fish tacos over and over. As someone born and raised in San Diego, we know when a fish taco is elite and let me tell you, these were absolutely some of the freshest and tastiest grilled fish tacos I've ever had. I don't even prefer my fish tacos grilled. I always get them fried. But there were too darn good. Mahalo to the bartender that took care of us. Friendly and gave us a lot of tips on where to visit while in Lahaina

Service was 10/10 Space 10/10 Appetizers 8/10 Food was like 7.5/10 We took the family of 6 to Son's and really enjoyed our food and time eating there and talking story, but overall I think for the price, we've had better. (sorry, please dont come @ me) The complimentary bread and butter were really delicious to start. We had the calamari and dumplings (6pc) as appetizers. It was good to sample off the bat. Anywhere we go, we always try to get in an app or two to feel out how the rest of the food's going to be like. I highly recommend getting a few to try for the table. The salads were next and pretty good. We tried all 3 optipns and were able to split them. I would say that one salad was definitely shareable for two people. Then onto the entrees. Our table ordered different steaks with some sides and I ordered the pork chop specialty and other family member ordered the shrimp scampi. Pictures included. It's a nice place to celebrate a special occasion, anniversary or something more once in a while, but overall was just okay. I may give it another chance later, but for now, I'll leave it here. Local Tip: Check on Kamaʻāina discount

Lobster Ravioli - absolutely delicious with lovely Maine lobster!
Amy D.

Situated in the Hyatt Hotel, this steakhouse stop has a lot to offer! Restaurant tables look out onto an illuminated rock grotto with waterfalls and a large water feature! Area is populated by ducks and black and white swans. Ordered lobster ravioli - which was spectacular and filled with bit pieces of Maine lobster and a tail on top! Lovely creamy sauce to top. Short rib was cooked so tender and served alongside perfectly grilled heirloom carrots and probably the best mashed potatoes I have ever tasted! Menu offers a nice variety, including steak, sides and seafood. Service was quick and very friendly. Definitely make reservations ahead as it's quite popular, and for good reason! Highly recommend a stop!

Great meal with nice service. Nothing special but the comp bread and butter for the table was SO good. Steak was good, short rib ragu pasta was average, salads were all good. Probably wouldn't return but it was on property and easy.

She had to ask the manager. Finally they said we could sit outside. Asked for just a plate of pasta with butter for my daughter, but they said they could only do meatballs and dessert as an option. So I said meatballs on the side and no cheese, but they brought out pasta with tons of cheese and basil and meatballs to my daughter. They charged me $32 for "artisan pasta"! (See the pictures) I ordered the carbonara pasta and received gummy pasta stuck together with no seasoning or bacon. Pretty gross. The "wine list" was a couple of plastic sheets of way overpriced wines bordering on 6-7 times wholesale cost. I wanted to tell people coming in to avoid the place at all costs. It was laughable and frankly embarrassing to see this kind of awful 1980's style food presented like this. AVOID AT ALL COST!

All of the reservation times during sunset were taken, so we ate a little earlier but still managed to see the sunset as we were leaving. The views from this restaurant are absolutely breathtaking. We even got to experience a light rain shower followed by a beautiful rainbow while we were there. Our server was Tim, who was beyond kind, attentive, and engaging. He displayed some of the best hospitality I have ever experienced at a restaurant. He made wonderful recommendations and truly made us feel so special celebrating our soon-to-be baby. To start, we ordered the tako (octopus); it was served in the manner in which escargot is - tons of butter and garlic, and paired well with wonderful fresh-baked bread. For our entrées, both my husband and I did a duo where we could pick two smaller portions of the entrée dishes. I did a duo with the fresh lobster and lamb special, while my husband did a duo with the fish pasta special and the curry scallops. All four entrées were absolutely divine, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to sample a little bit of everything from the menu. To wrap things up, we had to try the infamous pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding with salted caramel, and they even gave us a complementary dessert for our babymoon, which was their take on a s'more. Both desserts were phenomenal, but I could have easily eaten two helpings of the pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding. If you find yourself in Maui and have the opportunity to make a reservation at Merriman's in Kapalua, I cannot recommend it enough as this was one of those meals that my husband and I will be talking about for a very long time.

For starters, the tako (octopus) escargot (instead of snails) was so good! Ceviche was also great. I had the highly recommended shrimp and pork chow fun for entree. It's slightly different from the Chinese style chow fun in the sauce. The shrimp were cut up in small pieces. The pork was actually spicy sausage, so it should've been more specific on the menu. The sausage made the dish greasier and saltier than it has to be. I didn't like it. My husband had the pork quesadilla that had great flavors but a bit soggy. Daughter had the ahi tuna. She's had a lot of tuna dishes on this trip, but didn't like this dish as much especially the wasabi soy sauce. Son had the crispy pork shank, and that was very good! Falling off the bone tender, nice tropical salsa to balance the rich flavors. The bread pudding with ice cream was a lovely finish. Service was excellent.

The hostess was quick to accommodate and gave us a 5pm reservation. - I felt that the servers were very attentive our entire meal, always making sure to get any extra plates out of the way and refilling waters often Bad: - it was quite overpriced. I understand that this is a tourist-centered area, but I cannot fathom paying $40+ for pasta... the serving size for most of our food was disappointing to say the least. The Alaskan roll had barely any fish and the rolls were not very big. It was falsely advertised to us by our waiter that a roll could easily feed 6-7 people. Please refer to the pictures below to reference serving size. - the food itself was not up to standard, especially for the outrageous price we paid for it all. The short rib wontons... first of all, I recommend Sansei changes the name of this dish because are a far cry from wontons. They did not taste good and there was barely any filling in them. The Alaskan roll tasted like only rice and cucumber. The cooked salmon was dry and came with a single jumbo shrimp... - our main waiter was rude, he did not seem to have much patience, giving us attitude and tone that did not feel appropriate. Conclusion: Overall, we were disappointed with our experience at Sansei. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, visitor or local, and we will not be coming back.
