IMHO Pailolo is located on our resort property, so very convenient! We enjoyed our first "dinner" of our current visit during their Happy Hour. You can't beat the ambiance at Pailolo. You are right next to the beach amidst swaying palm trees and sometimes enjoying live music. Ahhhhhh. No one was at the host desk, so we planted ourselves at a table. It took a little while to wave a server down to help us, but we were on vacation and chilled. Eventually we chose some delicious cocktails, coconut shrimp, and seasoned fries. My hubby and I had decided that we would try to share most of our Maui meals to save money and not waste food. It worked pretty well for us. I highly recommend it! Standard place, exactly what you want and need at a pool bar restaurant. However, at nighttime they have the live music!

The staff is hit or miss without an in between. Penny was friendly, helpful and a pleasure to be around. Two of the other bartenders both men were impatient and not too kind. The food was mediocre at best. Banzai fries looked thrown together in 2 mins and tasted terrible. The chips and salsa were decent, the salsa was blended up tomatoes. The wings were pretty good, the sauce ones not the dry rub. The coconut shrimp was their best meal, perfectly crispy and the sauce was so tasty. Chicken tenders looked like 1-2 day old, my 4yo liked them. The drinks are overpriced for what you get. $20 for a margarita that is 85% ice & 15% drink. My advice is buy your own drinks and take a small cooler and bring your own snacks. Save yourself $200. read more

It's been about 10 years coming to Kaanapali. We stopped at Pailolo for lunch. The prices sure have increased over the years. In 2015 the prices of a drink of the day was $6. Now it's $17. But the food is very solid. The drinks are good. They open at 11 and were instantly busy. There were lines of people getting drinks at the bar. It felt a bit understaffed and it took a while for our server to come over, but he was great. No complaints about food or service. read more

So this restaurant is part of the Westin Ka'anapali Resort, so it's not readily available to the public at large. I would double check to make sure non-resort clients can eat here. It was our last night on the resort, so we didn't feel like making the trek out anywhere, so we ordered from here to take back to our room. Got the burger, nachos and a hot dog for the kiddo. My husband saw the nachos as we were walking by the pool earlier and wanted to try, and boy oh boy--these were surprisingly good! I just wished they had more jalapenos but that's my bad for not asking! The burger was also pretty good, juicy meat with all the fixings--again, only wished they gave us fries instead of chips. My kid loved his hot dog (it was all beef!), and his came with some tasty fries. Solid place for some good bar type food and in a pinch! read more

This bar next to the pool was very convenient, however that is where the positives stopped. Service, while friendly, was extremely slow. It could take up to 15 min to be greeted and another 20 to receive your drinks, even if it's just a beer. The food is as to be expected from a bar - it's cooked in a food truck kitchen next door. They do a drink of the day which is fun and have plenty of TVs to watch sports on. It does the job but don't go in looking for a speedy meal. read more

Service and location, I mean it's an open sportsbar inside a resort and Maui sunset views! It really should be 5 stars buuut the food and drinks is just ok. We had a promotion voucher so we decided to hit it up and watch the game. We got chili edamame app, ahi burger and a veggie burger entrees, 2 cocktails. Bill ran $117 without tip. Staying at the resort so we gave this place a try. The food was good but not memorable and the service was beyond slow. There appeared to be only one waiter doing his best to keep up but people were getting upset. Finally someone from the food truck came out to help take orders. Tables were full of leftover food from empty tables and the birds were everywhere eating the leftovers. Why so many negative reviews? We're staying next door at the Westin Nanea. We couldn't get a seat at the bar n grill there so we walked over to the sister resort. The landmark is a food truck aptly named Pailolo. Come to realize later that's where the food is made. We spotted several empty tables from the boardwalk so we walked over and sat ourselves. We were soon greeted by a server who brought us water and menus. The three of us all ordered the fish n chips. Battered Ono. Cocktails - hubby had martini, I had a lava flow, and daughter had IPA. Our food came quickly. Small filets but very satisfying. Best battered fish we've had. After asking what's the coating we were told it's pancake batter. So onolicious. The fries were crispy and warm too. Pro tip: live entertainment on T-TH from 5:30p to 8:30pm. Last night (Tuesday) it was a solo guitarist. Both diners and non diners enjoyed the entertainment as the pool loungers are right there. Portion sizes are moderate. Just enough to ease any hunger pains. read more

Nice ambience here at the Westin location where this restaurant is located. Had a nice table near the evening singer near the fire pit and enjoyed both the fresh fish burger, coconut shrimp and the music. The fish was cooked just right. The coconut shrimp was butterflied and battered because it was thin, it was overcooked and couldn't really taste the texture of the shrimp. Just wanted to spend our first full day at this Westin property casually on a Sunday and have a simple poolside burger and fries with drinks by the pool. Even though every umbrella had an order here sign with a QR code for a menu it came with a notice to go get it yourself! So after splurging for the premium oceanfront view suite, there is no service here. Simple ask. I went to this order desk and got a very machine like bartender to order from. He was very close to the euphemism for male genitalia to say the least and clearly not happy that he chose to work here on a beautiful Sunday. I asked him about poolside service and he made it clear No So I ordered through him and he kept asking more details while walking away from me to his POS system that I couldn't hear so I kept repeating myself and vice versa about payment method, temp of burger etc. He had better things to do clearly and then he literally tossed the beeper device across the bar at me and handed me my lime for an under filled 9$ Corona. It was all fine I guess but I wanted to give him positive feedback of a wonderful entertainer that we heard from the night before here doing cover songs of island reggae music here. This guy was good and we listened from our view balcony above thinking it might be a band. He was a young Filipino fellow named RJ that rocked it solo and doing some Iration covers well!! We chose to go to the neighboring property for dinner and drinks and Sooo glad We did given the service at Pbj! But on the way back we found RJ hauling his gear out and I engaged him and had a great talk about island reggae. We are going to follow him to another gig elsewhere this week for sure for a good dinner and music. This bartender just pooped on him and tried to tell me that some lady singer was coming up another day that was better. Turd! So the beeper goes off and I go beeping to the bar across the property. I skipped it back across this crappy bar and he handed me a huge paper bag with an almost $30 burger and fries. Fries were big and perfectly cooked from a food truck the Westin anchored beside this bar. The burger was average at best. I was fine with all this but this service and most importantly the bartender was awful!! Not the same as Dukes down the beach and wishing we had given up our umbrella and pool setup and gone there for sure. Overall after almost one day here at the Westin it's been pretty nice with really nice engaging staff. I'm rarely motivated to drop a neg review so quickly. After this we will NOT be dining at this property the rest of our vacation! Why? So much better food and servers around Maui!! read more

Our party of 5 was blessed to have stayed at The Westin Ka'anapali Resorts where this place happen to be nestled. Super cool seeing their nicely decorated food truck on the side of the bar where all the yummy food is cooked and prepared. Ordered their Food Truck Nachos which, (and I'm always honest) were some of the best nachos I've ever tasted! Hands down. What makes their's special? For me, it was the flavor (and portion) of the kalua pork they piled on, along with the medley of queso, chipotle cream, and pickled red onion that were all combined on top of the abundant crispy tortilla chips. A flavor explosion with each bite, which was next level of umami! My only regret is that I chose to leave my phone up in the room, so I didn't even take an obligatory pic of the food I ordered. Ughhh! LOL! I can't end my review without mentioning the bartenders who took our food order since it was later in the night. They were chill, friendly, and not to mention, funny too! Conveniently located within the Westin Ocean Resort Villas next to the beach and pool, Pailolo Bar & Grill is a good place to order meals and drinks while on vacation. There are plenty of tables on-site with good shading while enjoying the view of the beautiful and peaceful ocean during the day, and even better as the sun sets. The amazing view of the ocean and sunset can make it romantic with a casual setting. I ordered the following menu items (* = highly recommend) : *Food Truck Nachos *Island Fish Tacos Pound O' Wings Junior Cheeseburger The Food Truck Nachos are definitely sharable for 2-3 people. There is a generous amount of chips and BBQ Kalua Pork. I was also told that the Fish "N Chips are one of the favorites, but I ordered the Island Fish Tacos instead. The Island Fish Tacos are so deceiving because they appear small, but they are so fulfilling. The salsa that comes with the chips included in the dish was okay--just dip - don't heap the chips. The Pound O' Wings sizes are bigger than the typical winglets commonly offered from various restaurants, so when I opened the container, I expected to see more than 6 wings. They are good for a quick bite to eat by itself or on the side. The Junior Cheeseburger, I was told by my kin, was good but wasn't feeling the bun for some reason. The fries were good as well. There are plenty of cold adult beverages to try also, but since we had our own in our room, I didn't place an order even though I am very tempted to splurge and try something. You can order online by the QR code provided in the room, but the menu isn't the same as ordering in person and seeing the actual menu. Overall, try it at least once... well, maybe try it a couple of times, at least. If you love seeing the sunset, this is the place to enjoy good food, drinks, and the sunset ocean view. read more

Hubbs n I decided to drop by for a cocktail after a fantastic snorkeling trip, but boy were we disappointed and embarrassed for the Westin. We weren't greeted by anyone, it was half empty so we sat ourselves, there was a patron arguing at the bar because his food was cold and they wouldn't recook it, and the staff were all hiding in the back and ignoring anyone who needed service or wanted to place an order. We were just one of a number of tables trying to get the eye of a waiter, any waiter, and Hubbs finally had to yodel at a waitress who was passing us by and ignoring us and everyone else. She reluctantly took our order and then asked for our room number. We are locals so said we would be paying cash, at which point she rudely said, nope, no service, cash not accepted. So we left! The rudeness and obvious reluctance to help was a slap in the face from the staff, every single one. I don't know how this bar survives at the hotel. As a tourist I would be asking for the manager. As Kamaaina I'm just embarrassed that a hotel would treat tourists this way on our island. Absolutely ZERO ALOHA!! read more

Like dummies, we didn't check to see if if they were open when we left our room to watch the Little League Championships, Hawaii vs Curaçao. Not only did they turn on the tv to the right channel to watch the game (even tho they weren't officially open) but the bartenders and servers had a great time chatting and cheering for Hawaii. Madison was friendly and patient (we were busy cheering quite a bit) but she convinced us easily to specials and upgrades. Absolutely delicious food, excellent service and the best part is the ambiance and view. Literally ever table had a complete view of the ocean. We got the loaded fries which are a newer item and our kids flipped over them.... So good. We then got trophy burgers and one order of fish tacos. All the food was super fresh and again, delicious! The burgers were cooked to perfection and the fish tacos were very flavorful. Lastly we ordered their newer dessert which is I believe a mud pie and man was it mouth watering. Welp, I finally get to write a bad review. I don't like doing this, as you can see from my previous reviews. But this is a Westin resort and people are spending THOUSANDS to stay here so I feel like it's not asking a lot for the experience to be at least average. The first night we got here we went to the bar for drinks and for the price they were pretty watered down. They tasted okay but if I just wanted juice then I'd go to a juice bar. The bartender was supposed to give us happy hour prices--yeah, he didn't. Our third day we decided to go back for dinner. We got the drink special and again, it tasted like juice. I wouldn't be surprised if they have stronger drinks at an AA clinic. My gf got the nachos and they smothered half the nachos with "chipotle crema" which she said was just colored sour cream. This was way better than my meal but still pretty mediocre. I ordered the fish tacos and took one bite and it tasted like lukewarm cardboard. It's obvious they just take frozen fried fish then heat it up. The corn tortilla was cold and stale and broke easily and there was NO sauce so it was super dry. It was pretty gross and probably the worst fish taco experience I've ever had. If you're hungry or want drinks do not eat here. I know it's convenient because this is all there is to eat at this particular hotel. But just do yourself a favor and walk to any other Westin instead and eat there. Update: I'm starting to think this place has a vendetta against us or something. Ordered fries with side of cheese. How can they screw that up, right? Welp. They did. We opened the bag and all the containers were covered in cheese, very little actually stayed in the designated box. Why the hell were they not in small sauce containers?!? This one of the the neighboring Bar and Grills for our stay and I'm so glad we ventured out to check out this space. Pailolo is mostly outside next to the pool and has a huge fire pit with entertainment. While other food spots may have a more elevated menu I was so happy to find something a little more simple...like wings, nachos, chicken tenders kind of simple and sometimes that is all you need. As a timeshare owner with Westin - we have been coming here for 10+ years. As always - beer is cold, service is outstanding, and a great place to watch the Nuggets beat the Lakers. That being said - we dream of the truck stop nachos all year - Unfortunately - they've changed the recipe. It used to be beans, chili, ground beef, sour cream, guac, and always more 'goods' than chips. One of the best nachos we have all year. Corey was such an amazing server super cheerful, friendly & had the Aloha spirit! I gave it a 3 star because i wasn't happy at how the female & male manager spoke to Corey in front of us & other customers. They need better management skills, give your employees breaks & please pull your employees into the office/to the back to speak with them! Don't embarrass them in front of customers.
