Food was fantastic. We had the coconut shrimp, Mahi tacos and chicken and they were all sooooo good.

Great food and great service -- will definitely be back! We tried a mix of things: the spicy tuna panko roll (super crispy on the outside with fresh tuna inside), prime rib (English cut, cooked perfectly and very tender), grilled mahi in lobster sauce (rich with flavor and textures, loved the sauce. it was their special of the night), and the goat cheese salad with added hoisin chicken (nice balance of savory and fresh, chicken was deliciously flavored). For dessert, the cinnamon toast crunch banana bread was so delicious -- warm, sweet, and really unique. The piña colada mocktails were easily some of the best mocktails I've had. Everything was beautifully presented and came out at a good pace. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive!

What a gem of a restaurant. The menu is fantastic and full of unique, tempting dishes. There were so many items I wanted to try that it was honestly difficult to decide what to order. The Prime Rib was outstanding--perfectly cooked, tender, and incredibly flavorful. The Hoisin BBQ Ribs were another highlight: a huge portion with fall-off-the-bone meat, the perfect amount of sauce, and just the right balance of savory and sweet flavors. It's clear that a lot of care goes into both the food and the overall dining experience. Between the amazing menu, excellent execution, and warm, welcoming owners, this is a place we'll be recommending to friends and returning to often. Can't wait to come back and work our way through the rest of the menu!

The food was excellent. We arrived soon after they opened and had their lunch menu. Good portions for what you pay. No alcohol as of yet they were still waiting on liquor license but overall this place is amazing. Waitress was attentive and kept checking on us throughout our meal.

We had an absolutely incredible meal for Mother's Day today! We had two specials- classic favs... French toast and seared ahi Benedict. Both were the best we have ever had ANYWHERE!!! (and we are not young! Haha) We also both enjoyed a decaf espresso latte... sooo yummy too! We were avid fans of Chef Alan when he had his food truck - it was one of our favorite places to eat. We are so happy to enjoy his fantastic creations in a sit down atmosphere where his exceptional plating skills can be highlighted. Don't miss this new restaurant and Chef Alan's gift for creating incredible meals!

Love this place! 2nd visit! Yes it's a holiday, but they were open and the food and service were great, again! Sat on the patio near the fountain & enjoyed the Coconut Shrimp, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and Not-too Spicy Tuna Roll. Shared a piece of cheesecake after!

This was our first time dining at Hide Away by Aloha in Wailea, and we went with friends for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the food and the generous portions--especially by Hawaii standards. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. We started with the coconut shrimp, which came with four jumbo shrimp. The shrimp themselves were excellent, though the coconut coating was a bit over-fried and darker than expected. We also ordered the chicken wing wrap, which was extremely delicious and fresh. Interestingly, it was made with well-marinated chicken thighs rather than wings, but the meat was juicy, tender, and paired beautifully with a peanut sauce. The onion rings weren't my favorite since they were made from shredded onions instead of traditional rings, though the batter and dipping sauce were quite good. The standout appetizer for us was the ahi sushi roll with panko crust--absolutely hit the spot and was easily the best starter of the night. For entrées, all four of us ordered the prime rib, served with mashed potatoes, asparagus or creamed spinach, and au jus, cooked from rare to medium-well. The beef was good, though not exceptional if compared to a steakhouse like Ruth's Chris. The creamed spinach was decent but could have used more Parmesan cheese to add depth, and a pinch of nutmeg would have elevated it nicely. The "Marry Me" mahi mahi was beautifully done--flaky, flavorful, and topped with a crust, served alongside panko-crusted artichoke. The dish was surrounded by a red wine sauce that was tangy and sweet; however, it felt a bit overwhelming in quantity and would have worked better as a reduced sauce. Overall, it's a very nice restaurant in Wailea with a friendly atmosphere. One small comfort note: the wooden chairs are quite hard, and cushions would make longer dining much more enjoyable. It was also a bit noisy where we were seated near the entrance. Our server, Nellie, was accommodating, professional, and genuinely pleasant, which added to the overall experience. We'd happily return and look forward to seeing how the menu continues to evolve. Aloha

It was our last night in Maui. We found this great restaurant on Yelp and it did not disappoint! The spicy tuna panko roll and bbq chicken lettuce wraps were outstanding! My husband ordered a second helping! Great service and we enjoyed sitting on the outside patio. Best dinner we had on the island!! Highly recommend!

We started with the spam and unagi musabi, which is cut in half and a bit messy for four to share but perfect for two. It was delicious! We also had the poke nachos which had plenty of fresh ahi piled on. My wife and I split a smash burger deluxe style--one of the best burgers I've had for a while. The boys split fish tacos, which they devoured with enthusiasm. We had two sides of fries for the four of us, which was more than enough. The server was helpful and efficient. Suggested tip is 25%, that's a huge red flag! Lahaina Brewing purchased Kohola brewing about one year ago. How I wish I had visited before that, because looking at historical Yelp reviews, the previous food offerings look SO much more interesting and were made with local and traditional products. Now what you get is $11 spam musubi, a pretzel that has both fish roe and sugary syrup on it (gross!) for $21, pseudo-Niçoise salad for $28 (WTF!), and imported shrimp cocktail for $5 a shrimp. Piss off! Even the server said it was a total rip-off. The menu is massively disappointing for those who actually have a frame of reference. Good thing we only came for beer. Tried the Kohola beer in Makawao and was very impressed. The Tall Story Pale Ale is really excellent, gold standard for pale ale, but you don't have to come here to enjoy it. Happy Hour is 2-5 p.m., $2 off Kohola draft and $4 off a glass of wine. Regular price beer is $8.50, fairly standard price. Unlike others, we had a good service experience. The ambience is comfortable, but I still would not return.

However, the owner took the time to respond and explain that the entire shopping center wing was experiencing cooling issues and that the restaurant was dealing with significant staffing shortages at the time. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. That being said, I would be willing to give the restaurant another chance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED REVIEW AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: 6.21.26 I appreciate the response. It's telling that you addressed the air conditioning, disputed the gender of an employee, and questioned whether I was even there, yet didn't meaningfully respond to the concerns about service, timing, attentiveness, or food quality. If a customer leaves with a poor experience, the question isn't whether they perfectly recalled every detail. The question is why they left with that impression in the first place. I suspect future readers can draw their own conclusions from both the review and the response. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most disappointing dining experience of our Hawaii trip. We specifically asked to sit indoors because we wanted a break from the Maui heat after spending the day outside. Unfortunately, we quickly realized there was no air conditioning, making the indoor seating barely any cooler than outside. The restaurant also felt severely understaffed. It took around 10 minutes just to get a Diet Coke, and every time I asked for assistance, the woman working at the register seemed to defer the request rather than help or find someone who could. Meanwhile, some employees appeared more interested in chatting than helping customers, while only one or two staff members seemed to be working the floor. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution. There are far too many great dining options in Wailea to come back here.

Unfortunately, this was by far the most disappointing experience we've had. Looking back, we probably should have asked to speak with a manager while we were there, but after everything that happened, we simply felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I'll start with the positives because there were several. The drinks were delicious, the sea bass was excellent, and the dessert was absolutely incredible. The pasta itself was a little overcooked and soggy, but the flavor was still very good. The disappointing part of our evening was the service. After our server initially introduced herself, it took quite a while before she returned to take our drink order. When we were ready to order dinner, my husband was still deciding between a couple of menu items. Rather than giving him another moment, our server became visibly impatient and said she would come back after delivering our drinks. It ended up being more than 10 minutes before she returned. When I asked whether the entrees came with bread, her response made me feel embarrassed for even asking. Since they didn't, we ordered the biscuits as an appetizer to enjoy while waiting for our meals. Our children's meals arrived promptly, which we appreciated. However, our server never once stopped by to see if the kids needed anything. I had to flag down another server just to get ketchup. Meanwhile, our server walked past our table several times without checking on us or asking if we'd like another round of drinks--which we actually would have ordered. When our entrees arrived, the biscuits still hadn't come out. Shortly afterward, our server finally checked on us. I let her know that since our meals had already arrived, we no longer needed the biscuits and simply asked that they not be included on the bill. Her response was, "Well, they're made fresh and in the oven now. I guess I can go tell the kitchen you don't want them anymore." I replied, "They were supposed to be our appetizer, and our meals are already here now." Before I could even finish my sentence, she walked away while I was still speaking and appeared to mumble something under her breath. That interaction left my husband and me feeling shocked and disappointed. We've dined at many restaurants over the years and have never felt spoken to in that manner. We had considered asking to speak with a manager at that point, but honestly, we just wanted to finish our meal and leave without any further uncomfortable interactions. This was especially disappointing because Tommy Bahama has always been one of our favorite restaurants and a place we genuinely look forward to visiting whenever we're in Hawaii. We hope this experience was an exception rather than the standard, because the food continues to be wonderful--the service simply did not match the quality we've come to expect.

The noodles dressed up with the chef's special hot sauce though made the noodles taste a whole lot better (there are two types of chili sauce - a sambal (our neighbor had it) and a special hot sauce that is more orange colored). It was a little too sweet IMHO without the hot sauce. I noticed someone else mentioned it was like packaged ramen indomie. It actually looked and tasted to me too like it was not freshly made...
