Love this place! 2nd visit! Yes it's a holiday, but they were open and the food and service were great, again! Sat on the patio near the fountain & enjoyed the Coconut Shrimp, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and Not-too Spicy Tuna Roll. Shared a piece of cheesecake after!

This was our first time dining at Hide Away by Aloha in Wailea, and we went with friends for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the food and the generous portions--especially by Hawaii standards. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. We started with the coconut shrimp, which came with four jumbo shrimp. The shrimp themselves were excellent, though the coconut coating was a bit over-fried and darker than expected. We also ordered the chicken wing wrap, which was extremely delicious and fresh. Interestingly, it was made with well-marinated chicken thighs rather than wings, but the meat was juicy, tender, and paired beautifully with a peanut sauce. The onion rings weren't my favorite since they were made from shredded onions instead of traditional rings, though the batter and dipping sauce were quite good. The standout appetizer for us was the ahi sushi roll with panko crust--absolutely hit the spot and was easily the best starter of the night. For entrées, all four of us ordered the prime rib, served with mashed potatoes, asparagus or creamed spinach, and au jus, cooked from rare to medium-well. The beef was good, though not exceptional if compared to a steakhouse like Ruth's Chris. The creamed spinach was decent but could have used more Parmesan cheese to add depth, and a pinch of nutmeg would have elevated it nicely. The "Marry Me" mahi mahi was beautifully done--flaky, flavorful, and topped with a crust, served alongside panko-crusted artichoke. The dish was surrounded by a red wine sauce that was tangy and sweet; however, it felt a bit overwhelming in quantity and would have worked better as a reduced sauce. Overall, it's a very nice restaurant in Wailea with a friendly atmosphere. One small comfort note: the wooden chairs are quite hard, and cushions would make longer dining much more enjoyable. It was also a bit noisy where we were seated near the entrance. Our server, Nellie, was accommodating, professional, and genuinely pleasant, which added to the overall experience. We'd happily return and look forward to seeing how the menu continues to evolve. Aloha

It was our last night in Maui. We found this great restaurant on Yelp and it did not disappoint! The spicy tuna panko roll and bbq chicken lettuce wraps were outstanding! My husband ordered a second helping! Great service and we enjoyed sitting on the outside patio. Best dinner we had on the island!! Highly recommend!

great lettuce wraps and prime rib here

We have had three great dining experiences here in a couple weeks so we've really got to give the Hideaway a shoutout. Their prime rib is tender and juicy and they offer it in many small and large cuts with delicious side choices and ample au jus. Tonight we tried their chicken lettuce wraps which were also delicious with fresh ingredients, an expert teriyaki hoisin sauce in a surprisingly large portion size. A few nights ago we loved their Mahi Mahi also with a perfect piccata sauce, fresh carrots and great mashed potatoes. Lastly and most importantly the owners and staff here (Shelby, Chef Al, Sasha, Aloha and others we met) are warm and could not be more welcoming - that really makes the whole experience great. Highly recommend the Hideaway ! (BYOB at present so just a heads up.)

Marry me Mahi and bbq chicken

The food is fantastic, a must visit while in Maui! I had two of my favorite meals here. The ahi mango salad was the best salad I've ever had. The dressing was so light and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. We came back a second time since the first meal was so good, this time I got the Marry Me Mahi Mahi - absolutely amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce with the mashed potatoes was heaven. I don't usually leave Yelp reviews but I had to for this restaurant, everything was soooo good!!

The fish tacos were massive. The fish had good flavor, although it leaned a little on the dry side for me. The coconut shrimp, however, were my favorite thing we tried. Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We happened to arrive between their two happy hour windows, and while looking at the menu, we noticed that coconut shrimp were also available during the second happy hour along with other small plates. What I found odd was their happy hour policy. Apparently, you can only order from the happy hour menu if you've already purchased an entree and can show your receipt. I've never encountered that anywhere else, and it seemed like a strange business concept. Also, it is not posted anywhere that I saw. When my husband went back to order from the happy hour menu, the cashier asked if we had previously ordered food. He said yes, but our receipt was back at the table. For some reason, she had to go to the back to get approval before allowing him to order. It felt a bit awkward, especially since she was the same cashier who had taken our original order when we first arrived and we asked a bunch of questions, so I would def remember someone like me. lol That policy aside, the coconut shrimp were fantastic. I'd definitely come back for those alone.

I tried teh Kau Kau Tin with pork belly and garlic noodles, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and a small mac salad. Generally, the Kau Kau Tin and the mac salad were utterly bland. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and was the best part of the Kau Kau tin and I made sure to make each every piece of that. The Spicy Chicken sandwich was the most disappointing item I tried. The chicken patty was just a VERY FATTY piece of fried chicken. It was terrible. The texture shock alone from biting through crispy crust to gelatinous fat was shocking. But then, the chicken was not seasoned. It was a textural monstrosity that had no flavor. All in all, I'm glad I tried it.
