I did appreciate the friendly staff, and all of the testing Dr. Ruwani Gunawardane ordered to be thorough, but that is about it. Dr. Ruwani Gunawardane forced me to go to a specific radiology office (Charter Radiology), which was a horrible experience, and far from home for me. I was also forced to go to a specific pharmacy by her, which she claimed would make the medicine cheaper than going to the pharmacy my insurance actually covers, but it ended up being $10 more. She overbooks then rushes through appointments to compensate for that. She talks really fast, then gets annoyed when you don't understand something that was said, which is odd, as with this being a neurologist office, you would think she would have more patience with patients experiencing issues like brain fog. She also did not seem to actually listen to what I, the patient, was saying. I had to repeat the points I was trying to make multiple times, because she was more worried about rushing me out of there than actually listening to my concerns, and therefore wasn't understanding what I was saying. Even during the physical evaluation, where she had me tandem walking, she was too busy looking at and talking to her associate to even watch, until I lost balance and fell. Many things se wrote in her visit notes were completely inaccurate from what I said, and even from what she said during the appointments. The patient portal is also extremely outdated, and they don't post your test results on there, like they claim they do. This place is definitely a money grab for her, as they will find any opportunity to make you pay fees, even for simple things every other doctors office does for free, like prior authorization or printing prescriptions. My final straw with this doctor was when I had a 12:00 noon telehealth appointment set for during my lunch break at work. I was given zero instruction on how to join this telehealth, so I called the office at 11:30am, and they informed me that usually they call to check you in, then the doctor calls when she is ready. They said that since I called, they would check me in then, but the doctor was running just a little behind, however, she would call me by 12:15pm. At 12:25pm, I still had not received a call from the doctor, and had to be back at work at 12:45pm. I called the office for an update, and their phones were off. So, I sent a message in the patient portal (screenshot provided), stating that if I did not receive a call from the doctor by 12:35, I will not be able to do the appointment, and requesting that they not charge me, as it was not my fault. I spent my entire lunch break sitting in my car waiting for a call that I never even received. At 12:47pm, after I had started back at work, I received a call from the receptionist, who asked about the message I sent in the portal. When I reiterated everything to the receptionist and said that I was back at work, and could not talk anymore so we would have to reschedule, Dr. Ruwani Gunawardane snatched the phone from the receptionist and started coming up with excuses about her staff being late this morning and some nonsense about phone issues. I told her that was fine, but either way, I do not have time for this at this moment. She then tried to do the appointment anyway, forcing me to reiterate that I am back at work and cannot talk anymore. I told her that if she truly needed me to do a follow up, that's fine, I'll call and reschedule later, but as for right now, please do not charge me any fees or anything, and please do not charge my insurance for this visit, as it didn't happen. She started talking about how she has to charge my insurance bc that's how it works, which is odd, because how can you charge for a visit that didn't happen? I have notified my insurance of the situation, so hopefully she does not attempt to charge them.

I'm a lifelong sufferer with migraines. The only med that has ever worked for me is fioricet. He refused to prescribe that unless he kept trying to find a preventativ even though the dozens of medications I used in past never worked or I had bad reactions to (many of which he prescribed me). There was one medication he always wanted me to try but would always say I couldn't because it was like a cousin to another medication that I had a severe reaction to. He eventually prescribed that medication (Effexor) unknowingly to me and it almost killed me. I called him in midst of my severe reaction. He and the receptionist kept yelling are you ok??? but at that point I could only heave and vomit. When I was able to speak I yelled out help and he literally asked me if I wanted him to call 911 as if it wasn't apparent I did. Long story short I went to Er via ambulance. My BP was insanely high like 258/147 and was in shock. My heart rate and blood sugar were also dangerously high. I was treated and released after I was stabilized. I called Dr Khim afterwards and he treated me like I was a problem and told me from thereafter he would be recording the phone calls. I never saw him again. I would advise caution seeing this doctor. I almost died from his mistake.

They repeatedly billed BCBS with a code that…read morepaid them nothing and tried to collect from me even though every explanation of benefits or explanation of payment clearly states that the patient is not responsible for anything that the insurance company doesn't pay (other than the patient's co-pay.) BCBS and I had many phone calls with them trying to get them to submit the claim with the correct code. They continually use the wrong code and didn't get paid and kept trying to collect the money from me. Eventually, with Blue Cross Blue Shield giving them a special exception so that they could file their form even though it was past the deadline, they were able to collect some money from Blue Cross Blue Shield and I paid my co-pay. My visit was in March 2023, and they didn't get things straight with Blue Cross Blue Shield until July 2025. Here it is August 2026, and I got a notice that they sent me to a collection agency for the entire amount that they tried to bill Blue Cross Blue Shield! I again got Blue Cross Blue Shield on the phone with their billing agent, who says oh no, they pulled it back from collections after they received payment in July 2025. Yet the collection agency took 13 months to find me, since I moved out of state in April 2025. If indeed clinical associates had canceled the collection on me, the collection agency had 13 months to take me off their list yet they didn't. If you receive any bills from this practice, I suggest you look very carefully to make sure that you or your insurance company haven't already paid them.

I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and presuming she was under pressure to see a lot of patients as quickly as possible and this explains the careless treatment I consistently received. She was usually very unclear in explaining things and in too much of a hurry to answer questions, which she would sometimes refer to her assistant, who was also clueless. The whole office was horribly run. No one live ever answered the phone. You had to leave a voicemail. Calls were usually not returned the same day. It could take days to set up an appointment. After a visit, I often got a followup survey about my experience emailed to me. But when I filled it out and tried to email it back, I would get an error message about a server problem. Every single time!!! Nothing about this particular office works! Truly an awful experience! So glad to be done with them. Used to be so much better.
