When you arrive, they'll have you change into a tube dress and get comfortable on the treatment bed, where they cover you with a blanket to keep you cozy. But when I expressed we were there for their 1st-time $49 facial deal, I received a mean mug like and was told--very abruptly and loudly "YOU CANNOT" because I "have acne." She traced the perimeter of her forehead with her finger to demonstrate where she noticed my acne was. Yea ok, not necessary from someone who's not even doing my facial . I felt like I was being pushed into the acne treatment ($80) simply based on my skin type, even though I was coming in for a relaxing experience. Mind you, I don't even have acne with pustules on my face. I have some dark spots and merely 3 beneath the surface ones on my forehead that shouldn't be popped anyways! My analogy to my personal facial experience: it's like going to a restaurant deliberately knowing I want the veggie salad on the menu and being told I must order steak just because I'm a carnivore... My esthetician was more gentle with her verbal communication and explained why she recommended an acne-targeted treatment. I appreciated that. But even with that care, the facial included painful extractions and high-frequency zapping that left me tense--not relaxed. I also didn't receive a facial massage because I have sensitive/acne prone skin--which I understand not wanting to disturb my skin BUT I received a very relaxing facial massage last month (in June) where I live. My skin condition's no different between last month and today ‍--just a difference of place and person treating my skin. Ultimately, this wasn't the facial I came in for. I was eager to leave after my initial interaction. The estheticians are focused on directing clients rather than good ol' plain listening. There's language and maybe a cultural barrier. I made a same-day appointment and Hannah happily took me in. The whole process took about 1.5 hours. They first "steamed" my face to open the pores, and Hannah gave me a neck + shoulder massage while that happened. After that, she spent a good amount of time extracting all the whiteheads and blackheads. This was followed by a thick, cooling mask that made all the pain from extraction go away. Hannah was very patient and gentle. Unlike many beauticians, she didn't diss on my skin nor try to upsell me anything. I felt very taken care of and respected the whole time. I've been coming here for almost a year now and I love it! My skin was breaking out and leaving severe scarring all over my face and nothing it did on my own could fix it. Jasmine recommended that I do the "resting peel" and I saw a difference in my skin within a week. Now I come here every month alternating between the peel and the "stem cell hydration" treatment and my skin is so happy. The treatments are pricey but it's totally worth it! If you're looking for a place that will do thorough extractions, look no further! Unlike most spas that limit your facials to 45, 60, or 75 minutes, the estheticians at Ling Ling will take as long as needed to clean your pores. My facials here regularly average 1 hour and 40 minutes (probably embarrassing that my pores need this much cleaning). I usually walk out with a slightly reddened face, but the marks will mostly go away overnight, leaving my skin smooth and tight. Just note to plan accordingly when you make your facial appointment! The extraction part is no joke pretty painful, like tear-inducing, but I usually forget about the pain thanks to the excellent complimentary upper back/neck/shoulder/arm massage I receive while my face is getting steamed. Also the general face massaging and masks feel awesome as well. No, this is not the type of relaxing place where you get a quite private room with an esthetician that can hold long conversations in English with you. However, for the price (starting at ~$55 with options for add-ons like LED light therapy, microdermabrasion, peels, etc.), this is honestly the best bang for the buck and effective facial I have found in New York. read more

They give great massages during the facials and would also clean up your eyebrows. Last time, I had the acne treatment and held in my tears the whole time as everything was painfully popped. I visited Ling Ling Beauty Skin care for a facial while visiting NYC. Tina worked on my face. She gave an excellent neck and shoulder massage and good face massage. However, since I haven't done a facial in several years, I have quite a few whiteheads to be extracted. I don't feel like Tina gave enough time for my extractions and kept saying that my whiteheads have been there too long to be successfully extracted. While there is some truth to that but she left a few good size whiteheads that I was able to do myself later at home. Since I didn't have a mirror at the time, I wasn't able to tell her which ones she could have extracted. I have done extractions on myself for a long time and I know my whiteheads. I have been doing skincare regimen for a long time and usually gets compliment on my skin. However, Tina told me that my skin is very thin (yeah, I do exfoliation) and this shows poor skin health. She just has no idea!!! I use vitamin C serum religiously and she acknowledges that I have very tight pores. (yes that's due to my skincare regimen) And it's poor form to bad mouth your client's skin in order to get more business. Anyways, I was not allergic to their products so when I am in NYC, I may or may not go back to Ling Ling but I will request another person. I did not purchase any packages from them. I have been to many different spas, from high-end at the Ritz to mid-range spas, and I have to say the facial I received at Ling Ling was the best. I made an appointment for 2:30pm. It was storming in NYC that day and the trains were extremely delayed. I did not get to Ling Ling until 3:20pm. Since I missed my appointment by almost an hour, I expected to be waiting, but they took me in right away. At first, I did not have high expectations as I saw that the facial tables are in a shared room, unlike the private rooms that I usually see. You share a room with 2 other clients. I decided to go with a hydrating facial. The facial starts with a thorough cleanse of the face, followed by a nice, long and thorough massage of the shoulders, neck, and upper back while the face is being steamed, then a very very thorough extraction session. There were extractions in places I didn't even know I had an acne. The lady showed me one of the extractions and I was wowed. After the extraction, she continued to work on my shoulders, neck and back of my head. She offered to clean up my eyebrows and I agreed (it was free of charge). My favorite part was the cooling lotion that she put on my face after the extraction. She massaged my face very thoroughly and hit all the points that would help with lymphatic drainage. I very much enjoyed the facial massage. The facial massage follows with a nice thick mask that lasted for about 15 mins, then a wipe down and final application of lotion. The whole facial experience lasted about 1 hr and 75 mins. My face felt amazing afterwards. I am most impressed with how clean, tight and moisturized my skin feels. I didn't even mind sharing a room with 2 other clients because the facial itself was amazing. I only had intentions to get one single facial, but after the session, I decided to spend ~$550 for the 10 facials package, because I know I will be coming back here very often (already made my next appointment). Guess Top Beauty closed and clients were re routed here. I came at 5pm on a Sunday and had a regular facial with Javy. The routine is similar to all the places, with extra nice touches. Ie the products are better (the masque particularly smelled good like green tea) They attempt to keep it quiet and relaxing unlike Sai Kay.. They massage you for longer. They attempt to get more careful with extractions. I didn't look spotted red and scary when I left but that could have been my skin condition. With any Chinese facial place, the routine goes: - steam to open pores - facial massage including tender points of your sinus, neck and head/cleaning of the skin - shoulder massage and towel under your neck for the rest of your facial -extractions (owwy) -antibacteria machine that zaps any germs -The ice machine (this cold/steel thing that reduces redness), if you choose to get that. These machine treatments is what makes this better than Sai Kay -a masque which lasts for about 30 minutes Then they wake you up and give you a shoulder massage. The location is a bit de central to Chinatown which could be both good and bad, depending on who you are as it's near the D Grand St stop as opposed to Canal. I felt that Javy was quick and effective so recommend her but every person on the staff seemed reall nice. Nicer than Sai Kay and less pushy. I called to make an appt. based on the perfect reviews on yelp, and now I'm suspecting false reviews. When I called, I inquired about any first time deals/ promo and was advised, none. $55 for the first time but I have the option to choose the package deal at the end. Ok, fair enough I thought since $55 isn't expensive. Fast forward, before I even walked inside, I saw promo deals posted on the store front. Basic facial for $19 and deep cleaning for $29...so when I went inside (skeptical at this point), the girl javy? I spoke with on phone quickly opened up a pamphlet to shove it in my face to try and explain the $55 facial she told me over the phone. What about the non-existing promo that's posted all over? Whatever, I'm not cheap and didn't mind paying for full service to get an honest try, which is why I don't understand the 5 stars?! 3 stars max IF MY FACE DIDN'T END UP WITH A PRETTY BAD ALLERGIC REACTION. The facial for the most part was typical, nothing spectacular deserving of 5 stars, esp. when the facial is done in a common room (typical in ctown) you share with others, which can be annoying when people don't silent their phones and staff going in and out. So to be fair, 3 stars except for this, the killer....my skin is dry and thin which she was well aware of, as any aesthetician can easily see...so why put a mint (a natural astringent) mask on my face? And then when I told her it's starting to burn, she insisted it's natural to help with inflammation and helps with pore tightening....uh...which my face has need for either. Maybe a moisture mask would be more appropriate?!! I told her again it's burning and by this time, I knew the damage was done.
