Every single staff in the restaurant was on their personal phones, leaving the restaurant to take personal calls, and fraternizing more than working. We also witnessed several food safety violations including our waitress sticking her hands in her pants in the back to tuck her shirt, and another waitress playing with her hair excessively, all without washing their hands before interacting with customers again. While good food, I don't know that I'll go back given the experience we had with the staff. I really question cleanliness when behaviors like that are happening in front of customers.

Ah, Sopapilla.. A refreshing change from the usual franchises that clutter this area (they only have one other location in Henderson if i'm not mistaken). The food is also a welcoming change from the typical Mexican food I have experienced in the Brentwood and Cool Springs area. Now, on the the food, decor, and location. First and most important, the food. Now, I'm no expert on Mexican cooking, nor New Mexican cuisine which this restaurant so proudly states. However, I was pleased with the direction in which Sopapilla takes their food; which happens to be a very light take on what is usually very dense and heavy Mexican food. Per the norm, we started with chips and salsa which were complimentary. Nothing to complain about, the chips seem to be homemade while the salsa was fresh and not salty. I decided on the Grilled Baja Tacos which consisted of grilled Mahi Mahi, corn salsa, and some veggies. The fish was light, flaky and delicious. Everything in theory was perfect of my tacos. They were light, fresh, and tasty. However, I felt like they could have used a bit more seasoning on the fish, it got a bit lost in everything else. Oh, and make sure you order the tacos with corn tortillas! I don't particularly care for flour tortillas. My friend ordered the El Pepe shrimp quesadillas which were amazing. If you love shrimp, this is the dish for you. Overall the food was solid, like i said, a refreshing change from the usual Mexican cuisine The location is very convenient, about 5-10 minutes away from Cool Springs Galleria depending on traffic. It is a bit in a awkward location if you've never been there, but if you're headed towards Franklin then you can't miss it (right before the golf course). The decor inside was a bit dark, so I opted to sit on the patio which was the correct choice. The tables on the patio were very clean and seemed to be new. In the end, the food was very enjoyable and I will definitely be back to try their other menu options. Oh, I almost forgot! Their complimentary desert Sopapillas are RIDICULOUS! Hi Steve- Everything went well! Our servers were excellent, checking in frequently to keep everyone's needs met and the drinks flowing, answering questions, making suggestions, & to keeping us moving along. I found them to be joyful, patient, and they displayed a sincere desire to want to make the night a success. The guests enjoyed themselves, complementing the food, drinks, and a fun ladies night. Most took boxes to go which is a testament to the food, with the large guacamole starter and the fresh taste of the chips being a room favorite. Everyone was offered dessert but they said they were too full from dips, entrees, and drinks to order anything more. I was the only one that asked for the crème brûlée and that's just because it's my fave. The private room met our needs well. It was warm & cozy on such a cold night, which was wonderfully inviting & the table arrangement (U) was perfect to keep us all together and engaged as best as possible. Casting the photo onto the wall was an extra special touch we all enjoyed. Thank you for the excellent job on the customized menu, tying it together perfectly with the theme made it even more memorable. The kitchen should be commended on getting the entrees out timely and all together. I made the correct call with keeping the room for the night as many stayed until closing time, not feeling rushed, allowing the night to unfold organically on their time, offering them a chance to catch up, unwind, escape life's responsibilities for just a short while and be with their besties for the night. I love this place! It is my new hang! Love love the patio, the cool vibe inside, but more I love the food! The minute I sat down, I was receiving the best chips and salsa. The salsa is awesome! And the guacomole is to die for, love the option of hicama chips to make it healthy. My favorite guac use to be Red Pony, but now it is Sopapilla's. I had the green corn tamale and chipolte shrimp taco, my friend had the Santa Fe chicken salad (the cilantro dressing was amazing). Her husband had a vegetarian quesadilla which he said was so fresh tasting and loaded with veggies. We did not sample the beans, however, my vegetarian friend was told they do not use chicken or beef stock in them and NO LARD! What beans without LARD! Maybe that is why they are not the typical hard blob on your plate at other mexican restaurants??? I have to say New Mexican food is way different from mexican and so you need to adjust your palate to understand the unique flavor of the hatch green chili....so my friend from NM said. Dinner was wonderful this evening! Things started off a bit slow & rocky but Karen, whom we flagged down & asked, "Do you know who is our waitress?", took our remarks in stride and was attentive on the spot. She was a professional who turned around what could have been a very negative situation for us, her & the restaurant. She took superb care of us, apologizing numerous times, making management aware & getting our food & drinks out timely. We had the trio dip for starters which was so yummy and chips were served warm! Both our entrees were so tasty. We had the blue corn enchiladas & chicken fajitas & a corn tamale (which isn't on the menu but ohh so delicious. And lastly we enjoyed the complimentary sopapillas. Sopapilla's Sunday Brunch is the absolute best in Franklin! They offer multiple buffets including a full spread of Tex-Mex food with a made to order fajita bar, rice, beans, queso, etc. They also offer a made to order omelette bar, made to order pancake bar, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits & gravy and a full spread of Southern classics such as mashed potatoes, mac n' cheese, etc. that they are changing up weekly I was told. The bottomless mimosas, bellinis, and bloody mary's for $6 didn't hurt either. Like I said, this is by far the best brunch option in all of Cool Springs/Franklin that I have experienced (and I've tried them all). Why is this place ranked so high lmfao. I have been here before the current remodel and then after. It still reeks. Crap service super average food and even worst parking. A friend and I decided to split a couple of tacos and 13 for 3. 13 dollar. What. Two carne asada and a brisket. And the food wasn't even good man. And the pintos with cheese was so bland. Like licking a picture with bland pictures. Why. Granted it is clean and spacious, why. Why is it so expensive for crap-tier tacos? Maybe other food tastes good? My mother and I went to Sopapillas for the first time this past weekend. Our experience was great! We were greated by a friendly hostess who sat us after a ten min. wait. We were immediately greated by our waiter who brought out chips and salsa. The salsa was by far the best I have ever had. Just enough kick to keep you eating it! I ordered the tamale and shrimp taco... amazing! My mom had the flautas.. also wonderful! The sopapillas at the end of the meal sealed the deal for both of us! I visited there on a whim and had heard good things about the place. The food was really good, everything came out at a reasonable time, and the pineapple guacamole was phenomenal however the reason for the rating was because of service. Our waitress was missing the majority of the meal and what should've been a half hour meal turned into almost 2. That doesn't even count us waiting for someone to take care of us when we sat down. This place has the best patio I've found in the Franklin/Brentwood area. It's not secluded, but it's back aways from the road, and is lovely with its wrought iron fence, potted trees and strung white lights. My coworkers and I share the appetizer Cheese Crisp with added chicken and get drinks. That appetizer goes a LONG way and is fresh and crisp. Sopapilla's may seem like a fine establishment to dine; however, their management and staff treated a group of medical and law students who are African Americans with no respect. The waiter did not properly greet us, threw our menus on the table, and did not clean the table before seating us. Because we felt disrespected, we decided to leave. Sorry, it didn't live up to the hype. The hostess and waiter both seemed in need of more customer service training. The salsa was great but it was all downhill after that. It's sad when a simple little side dish of black beans becomes the best part of your meal. My entree was somewhere between bland and boring. We almost left before we were waited on. We had a phenomenal experience at Sopapillas! From start to finish, the guest service was top-notch. Our server made a great recommendation with the Huevos Rancheros, and they did not disappoint! We were seated right away and had our food in about 15 minutes. I would suggest that these people who did not have the best experience try Sopapillas again! We were quoted 25 minutes but was seated at 45 minutes. The manager was very nice, he apologized and bought us an appetizer. It was worth the wait. We all enjoyed our dinner. Normally that's enough to make me reconsider brunch, but after eating here, I'd happily do it again. We were seated outside on an incredibly hot day, and our server--lovingly known as "Slacker"--absolutely earned a shoutout. He somehow managed to keep our table of indecisive food-sharers organized, never let our water glasses get empty, and made the whole experience feel relaxed instead of rushed. The only disappointment? They had already run out of gravy, which meant no biscuits and gravy for us. (My heart still hasn't fully recovered.) Instead, we leaned into sharing everything else. The fried green tomatoes absolutely lived up to the hype, the OG Bennie was fantastic, the avocado toast was fresh and flavorful, and because apparently self-control wasn't invited to brunch, we finished with the white chocolate bread pudding pancakes for "dessert." No regrets. Great food, fantastic service, and a perfect stop while exploring downtown Franklin. Just do yourself one favor... Get there early if biscuits and gravy are calling your name.

Ruby Sunshine is located in the roundabout on Main Street in an elegant building with an upscale feel. Picking up on the Nashville Country vibe, you'll find a wall of red Cowboy boots; but all are right-footed! The service is friendly and attentive, your coffee won't go cold, and you won't go thirsty either. We had the Southern breakfast and the friend green tomatoes Betty (benedict) What is interesting about this place is, although a chain, everything is home cooked and tastes like it too--biscuits, grits, gravies, sauces! Over the last four years, I've made more work trips to Brentwood than I can count--and I thought I…read morehad just about completed the local Mexican restaurant tour. Turns out, I missed one. On my most recent visit, I discovered Cinco De Mayo quite by accident, and curiosity (and hunger) pulled me in. Tucked just off I-65 near Old Hickory, this place is a bit of a hidden gem. You're not likely to stumble across it unless you're looking--or unless the roadside sign does what it did for me and waves you in like a culinary lighthouse. I stopped in on a Wednesday evening and immediately noticed two things: A) This place is way bigger than it looks from the outside, and B) This place was absolutely hopping. It has that "busy every night" energy--the kind of place that clearly has a loyal following. Inside, it's festive and colorful, with streamers and Mexican-themed décor throughout. There are multiple dining areas, and I was seated (as a party of one) at a table for four on what I assume was the lower level. Plenty of space to stretch out and contemplate life choices...or just the menu. Service started a little slow. After about five minutes, my server (whose name remained a mystery guest star) took my drink and food order and then vanished into the night. He eventually returned with iced tea and chips and salsa. The chips leaned a bit thick for my preference, but the salsa was fresh and flavorful--definitely a strong opening act. The menu is extensive, featuring all the usual Tex-Mex suspects at reasonable prices. Since it was my first visit, I went with a combo plate--the "greatest hits album" approach--to sample a few different items. You'll find all the heavy hitters here: Combo plates for the indecisive (or the strategic) Enchiladas and burritos in multiple variations A surprisingly deep seafood section Chicken dishes, fajitas, and a lineup of specialty items My food arrived in about ten minutes, piping hot and clearly made to order. Everything was solid across the board--no weak links, no surprises, just good, reliable Tex-Mex done right. While dining, I couldn't help but notice the rhythm of the staff. Some were in full hustle mode, keeping things moving efficiently. Others...not so much. My server, for instance, operated more on a "cameo appearance" schedule. My iced tea sat empty long enough to start feeling abandoned before he happened to notice it while tending to another table--one that, incidentally, seemed to get a bit more attention. There's always something satisfying about discovering a spot you didn't know existed--especially when it delivers where it counts. Cinco De Mayo is a solid find with good food and a lively atmosphere. If the service were a bit more dialed in, it could easily move from "good" to "go-to."
