What an absolute gem of a restaurant! Sorry Mommy is a hidden treasure serving incredible Central Asian cuisine, and I can't stop thinking about it. The waiter explained that their food reflects a Nomadic culture -- with influences from China, Turkey, and Russia -- and you can really taste that unique blend in every dish. I went on a Tuesday around 6:30 PM, and the restaurant was already lively with plenty of occupied tables -- always a good sign! They had run out of a few dishes I wanted to try, which honestly just gives me an excuse to go back. For appetizers, we ordered a few to share: * Samsa Chicken (6/10): Like a chicken empanada, but with milder flavors. Not my favorite, but still tasty. * Boorsok (10/10): Fried dough served with a lightly sweet, milky dipping sauce -- absolutely addictive. This was perfection! * Vareniki (7/10): Soft dumplings reminiscent of potato pierogis -- comforting and satisfying. For our entrées, we went family-style and sampled several dishes. The standout was the Ganbyan Somyan with Beef -- a spicy stir-fried noodle dish with garlic chives that was unreal. It was so good, I actually came back a few days later just to get it for lunch. That's how good it was! 10/10 We also tried the Ribeye Kebab (10/10) and the Chicken Kebab (10/10) -- both were perfectly grilled, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Honestly, some of the best kebabs I've ever had. I also ordered the Veggie Kebab, which was delicious as well. The food and service here are outstanding. The staff is warm, welcoming, and eager to share the story behind their cuisine. You can tell there's real pride and passion behind what they do. If you're looking to try something different and absolutely delicious, Sorry Mommy should be at the top of your list. A beautiful blend of Uzbek, Kyrgyz, and other Central Asian flavors, executed with care and heart. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes -- and to get another round of those kebabs and noodles!

Fantastic spot in Schaumburg! Service was friendly and outstanding from start to finish. The moment we walked in and saw the cultural décor and families happily eating, we knew we were in the right place. Table favorites: * Guyru Somyan - a non-soupy, incredibly flavorful noodle dish. * Plov - fragrant rice cooked perfectly; even our picky toddler went back for seconds (and thirds!). * Honey Cake - the perfect cross between cheesecake and sponge cake -- airy, lightly sweet, and not heavy at all. Other dishes we tried: * Da Pan Ji (slightly spicy) - generous portion of chicken, though the large cuts made it a bit less flavorful. * Manty - you can tell the dough is housemade the moment you bite in. Thicker, chewier texture with hearty chunks of beef seasoned simply with black pepper and onion -- comforting and authentic. We also ordered the red fruit drink, which was super refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, a wonderful experience with delicious, homestyle food and warm service. Highly recommend for families or anyone looking for something different yet approachable!

The food, service, and ambiance, were amazing! The server was super friendly and made some wonderful recommendations! When I'm back in town I will most definitely be going back!

What a great hidden gem! The food was well flavored and a mix of regional. There are a lot of local customers which is always a good sign of an ethnic food restaurant. Our server did a great job explaining the dishes to us. And allowed us to get some variety of flavors to try. We would come back.

Tried it for dinner and the food and service did not fail. Finally had the chance to try Central Asian cuisine and our server was very helpful and giving suggestions. we had the eggplant salad which was flavorful, guryu somyan with beef (though the beef could be a little tender) and lamb kebobs. The Eastern Napoleon cake was not too sweet and just enough to share. If you are looking for something different, try them! Ambience had the feel of a small village restaurant and it was clean and service was just on point. Thank you!

Sorry Mommy Salad: very tasty with the avocados and strawberries. I liked the blend of ingredients Guyru Lagman: the hand-pulled noodles were the perfect al dente. Tasted very fresh. Chicken was tender, and the soup was delicious La Zi Ji: first time I had central Asian style la zi ji. The dill was a little overpowering, but it was still good. Chicken very tender, and the peanuts were great. The peppers themselves were pretty tasty as well. The interior of this store is awesome. It kind of feels like a fancy restaurant, but also homey at the same time. Really cool decor inside. The staff are friendly and helpful. Someone who I think was the owner also talked to us, he was very nice!

    Kompot, Gan Za Ji

Absolutely excellent! I had the kompot (delightful), boorsok (a simple tastey snack), gan za ji (fabulous, flavorful, SPICY), and honey cake (A+++, must try, excellent). The waiter was great and answered my questions, recommending the gan za ji which was so good I'll be thinking about it for weeks! Only "problem" - the plate was so big I couldn't finish it all. These serving sizes are HUGE, so I recommend ordering to share. (But I wouldn't share the honey cake - it was good I ate the whole slice and ordered a second to take home for later.) The ambiance is luvly. Very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is not against the restaurant itself, but the ordering/payment system they use (Toast/toasttab) which didn't seem to work very well for me. The staff helped me through it and I had and excellent dinner with plenty of leftovers. HIGHLY recommend.

Unique central Asian spot that isn't a very common find. The waitress said the roots of the restaurant are from Kyrgyzstan, which I haven't really seen elsewhere. That being said, I also didn't know what to order, as the mushuro and guyru ganfan ended up being too similar, but it was fairly tasty. The chicken kebab was a hit with the kids and had a delicious grilled taste. The sorry mommy salad was good, a bit on sweeter side. The mingrelian khachapuri is like stuffed crust pizza but using an Asian bread as the dough, which has a nice sweet touch.

Great fusion restaurant if you're looking to try a mix of middle eastern and Asian flavors. The Good Able to get a reservation last minute for a group of 13. When we arrived, the place was packed. Constant flow of traffic the entire food service which was great to see. The Better Food came out fairly quickly. Only downside here (-.5 points) was food did not all come out at once. There was a 5-10 min wait between each batch of entrees leading to a lot of down time. Coming with small kids makes it not as ideal, as we wanted to eat and leave quicker than we had. The Best Food was all very good. Everything tasted fresh and all the meat was tender. Nothing we ordered was less than a 7/10. We ordered the following: Sweet and Sour chicken 7/10 Leaned more orange chicken / overly sweet. Most basic of the dishes we ordered but still tasty. Fried Manty 7/10 Good not great. The meat filling was very strong on the onions and not as well-seasoned as the other dishes. Would not get again if we went back. Plov 8/10 Akin to a desi pilau rice dish. Ordered for the kids to eat. Perfect mild flavors with tender beef. Was a bit too mild for the adult flavor palette, but great for the kiddos. Gangbyan somyan (Chicken) 10/10 Very good. Slight hint of heat in the noodles which was nice. Flavors were elevated and all the ingredients / veggies tasted fresh. We ordered the chicken, but after having all the dishes, would love to try the beef next time (all the beef dishes were very good). Kazan Kabob 100/10 Ordered this twice as it was the groups favorite. Dry dish (not saucy) sautéed in onions and spices with super tender beef pieces that are not chewy. Paired perfectly with white rice. Not spicy. Beef Roulette 8/10 Tender beef medallions Tasted like a mix between a steak and gyros. Charred well. Only downside was the fat pieces in the pieces were thick. They came off pretty easily, just not the healthiest of entrees. Overall, amazing food. Would come back for another meal most definitely.

Sorry Mommy is a fantastic culinary journey to Central Asian Cuisine. They serve all certified Zabiha halal meats. Bursts of fresh and wholesome inviting flavors in every dish they make! Above and beyond our expectations. Malina took our carryout order and even offered us water while we waited for our carryout. We started with the Samsy (handmade beef & chicken meat pockets) that were flaky, filled generously and a decent size. The La Zi Ji was a nicely cooked chicken dish with dried Sichuan red peppers that were a little sweet and not at all hot. We loved the chewiness of the Sichuan pepper pieces that accented the flavor of this unique dish. This was one of those dishes you experience once in a lifetime and never forget it! I had a side order of in house hand pulled noodles which were light and complimented the chicken entree. We also ordered the lamb/beef Lulya kabab that was moist, flavorful and pretty decent size. Accompaniments of red sauce and thinly sliced purple, white onions went perfect with everything. This meal was so delicious and enjoyable. We can't wait to go back and try their soups, bread and other original dishes. Exceptional service, beautifully decorated dining rooms, plenty of outside covered dining and easy parking.

Sorry Mommy is a halal restaurant specializing in Central Asian cuisine in Rolling Meadows. It was our first time being here, so we weren't sure what to expect. We started with the Kompot - a sweet juice made with dried fruits. It was delicious. And we also ordered the Beef Samsa, a beef pastry, which we also really enjoyed. For main courses I went with the Boso Lagman - which is a beef dish served with vegetables and hand pulled noodles This was by far my favorite dish we had here. It also came with spice on the side, which I used sparingly. You don't need much of the spice - the dish itself has a ton of flavor. My girlfriend got the handmade dumplings called Manty. These were beef filled, and unique but not what I was used to with a dumpling. I would try something different the next time. Service was attentive and the inside of the restaurant including the bathroom was clean. I will definitely be back for seconds at Sorry Mommy. 5 stars from me!

We ordered to-go, but the inside looks super fun and like there's a lot of space that would fit big groups (like if you want to go somewhere for a big family dinner). They were very kind and took our order over the phone before they were technically open, so that our food would be ready when they opened. It did take a bit for it to still be cooked, but they kept reassuring us it would be very, very fresh haha. We were too hungry by the time we got home to remember to document our order, but we liked everything. We got the plov, lamb kebab, samsy and honey cake. Only thing is the portions are kind of small for the price. But it is Halal--so take that into consideration. Friends, everything was so flavorful, but even if it wasn't I would come back for the honey cake alone! It's that good. It isn't overly sweet, and it's not a cake that's supposed to be. If you haven't had it before, it's like a thinly layered graham cracker cake that becomes this wonderful texture by the filling.

This is the new halal restaurant in Rolling Meadows. Dined here for the first time and had a wonderful dining experience. Got to try central Asian cuisine, focusing on the food from Kyrgyzstan. The menu offers a nice range of options to choose from . We ordered the - Mediterranean Salad Samsy, Manty, Boso Lagman, Plov, Beef Kabob, Fruit Tea, and Eastern style cakes . Each of dishes were freshly prepared and tasted great. The portion sizes are good and can be shared. My favorites were the beef kabob, bozo lagman, and Samsy. The service is also good. Our server took the time to explain the dishes to us and make good recommendations. It's a cozy and inviting atmosphere at the restaurant. Check it out, it's a must try.

The vibe inside is lowkey but elegant, great for a quiet night out or a new food experience with friends or family. The menu reflects a wide variety of authentic dishes -- some comforting, others bold and new depending on your palate. Pelmeni (dumplings): Very strong in flavor, not what I'm typically used to. The texture might take some getting used to -- I wasn't the biggest fan, but my friend loved it. Plov: So flavorful and hearty -- slightly on the greasy side but still really satisfying. Manty: If you're into juicy, steamed dumplings, this is the move. The spices are deep and warming. Honey Cake: Hands down one of my favorites. Soft, lightly sweet, and melts in your mouth -- definitely a must-try. If you're into exploring lesser-known cuisines or just want a meal that feels like a journey across cultures, Jannat is a beautiful stop. The sauce is bright and tangy--obviously spicy, but so, so good. And there's really no place similar in this area. Paired with the rice and beans and cabbage helps tone down the spice. Goat Curry - So spicy but so flavorful! The meat is tender and it's addictive. Beef patty - This is different than others, and it seems deep fried where I'm used to baked. Always love a beef patty and our kids enjoyed it. Plantains - Our kids love plantains in whatever form. Plus, these aren't spicy so they eat them all. Mac and Cheese - I'm usually wary of getting mac and cheese for kids because it's bland and watery (my child's words not mine), but THIS mac and cheese was SO good! So much flavor and gooey cheese sauce. Both our kids loved it and said it was delicious. Easy win! Candied Yams - Of all the tasty things, this is probably my least favorite. Everything on the menu is packed with deep, rich flavor. But candied yams are just too sweet for me. I think people who like sweet things will love this, but my preference tends to lean less sweet and more savory. So if you're not huge on sweets either, maybe skip this and go for the other items. The staff here are so nice--we ordered with the high hopes of ox tail (one of the non-spicy items) but they were all sold out! My husband was so disappointed that she took pity on him and just gave him the sauce and bits and bones that were left because they couldn't sell it anyway. It was SO good. Almost better than the first time I remembered it. I could be entirely too full and still want a taste of these ox tails! Please never go out of business or change hands--this place is a gem.

Here's what I ordered: 1) Roti Canai served with Malaysian chicken curry - the curry is unlike Indian curry. This is a typical Malaysian style curry. We walked into a casual, cozy space with a smaller dining area that can feel busy during peak hours, but the atmosphere stays simple and focused on the food rather than a polished dining experience. The setup works well for a place centered around a warm bowl of noodles, where the attention stays on what is in the bowl rather than what is on the walls. The ramen is the main reason to visit, especially the signature Kitakata-style noodles. The noodles have a thicker, springy texture that gives each bowl a satisfying bite, and the broths are where the restaurant stands out. We tried the Spicy Miso Ramen, which brought a deeper, richer flavor with a noticeable kick, and the Green Chili Shio Ramen, which offered a lighter but still flavorful option with a cleaner broth profile. The balance between the noodles, broth, and toppings made the bowls feel thoughtfully put together rather than just another standard ramen option. The toppings were generous and the eggs were cooked well, adding a creamy richness that tied the bowl together. Beyond ramen, the sides are worth adding to the meal. We ordered the pan-fried gyoza, which came out with a crisp exterior and a juicy filling, making it one of the stronger starters to share. The karaage also added variety if you want something beyond noodles, with a crispy coating that held up without being greasy. The menu has enough options for different preferences, including vegetarian ramen choices that do not feel like an afterthought. Because of its popularity, waits can happen, especially during dinner hours and weekends. Joining the waitlist ahead of time is a good idea if you are planning around a specific schedule. The restaurant moves with a steady pace once seated, and the service generally matches the casual style of the space. The staff handle the flow efficiently, and even when the dining room is full, the pace of the meal stays comfortable without feeling rushed. Kitakata Ramen Ban Nai is a strong ramen destination for anyone looking for flavorful broths, well-textured noodles, and comforting Japanese dishes. The spicy ramen options and pan-fried gyoza are highlights, making it a place worth visiting when you want a satisfying bowl rather than just a quick noodle stop. The quality of the broth and the texture of the noodles make it a step above the average ramen spot, delivering a meal that feels complete and well considered.

We also had boso lagman, with hand-pulled noodles and beef, and big manty dumplings with flavorful meatballs inside. I had previously tried Karavan at the taste of Des Plaines and recently had my first experience…read moreeating there in person. We went during lunch and were promptly seated. The decor offered great ambiance! In order to try a couple of items my sister and I decided to split the laghman and eggplant salad. The laghman was excellent with fresh hand-pulled noodles. I appreciated that they split the dish in the kitchen for us. The eggplant salad was a good portion to supplement the noodles. But points of caution that they are fried and have an almost sweet and sour sauce on top which for me was a little heavy. Overall quick and efficient service for a sit down lunch during the work week. They also appeared to have an extensive drink menu of different lemonade and coffee that I would be interested to try next time.
