Some of the best Uzbek cuisine in the Chicago suburbs. I always order the Lagman soup and Manty (dumplings with beef and onions, served with sour cream). The noodles are made fresh in-house and taste delicious. I've been here a few times over the years and the quality of the food has remained good, even through the pandemic. They have halal food options as well. The restaurant is very clean and the food is brought out quickly. I would love to see more drink options, but otherwise I have no complaints. read more

So ordered from here 3 times and manty and samsa are very good in here. I wish samsa was bigger , also like that they serve manty with dill and sour cream . Also highly recommend morkovcha . Their red souse is soooo good get extra when order samsa For plov it's better with basmati rice and felt like was too salty and meat was dry Shashlyk was okay not juice a bit on dry side Napoleon wasn't like Russian but better than American. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I immediately felt the Uzbek flavor and hospitality. I ordered two samsa and two types of barbecue. Samsa was brought instantly, it was very tasty, but it seemed that it was a little small. (probably it seemed so to me because I eat a lot) Kebabs were cooked for about 15 minutes. It was also very tasty. Perhaps there is still something to work on, but today I was satisfied. And I am very glad that it is halal here. I wish you guys good luck. read more

We were visiting Long Grove and happened to find this halal joint in nearby Buffalo Grove thanks to Yelp. It's nothing fancy inside. Feels like a cafe. There was some weird rap music playing. You order up front and they bring the food to your table. Interestingly, the plates they use are really nice. Unfortunately the first two items I tried to order were unavailable (tuy kebab and ragu with chicken), which immediately brought back bad memories of Makon. We ended up ordering lagman soup and plav. The food came out really quickly, so I guess their menu is whatever they're cooking that day. The lagman soup was very good but short on meat. Good flavor, though. The plav was also excellent, but had very few raisins. The veggies in both dishes were nice and tender. Pretty satisfied overall. read more

I'll start out by saying that I don't know anything about Uzbek cuisine, but I can tell you that in my personal opinion, it's fricking delicious. Mild and savory, with warm spices and very tender meats. Restaurant was clean and bright, and the staff were nice enough to make a few suggestions for a first-time visit. Give them a try! read more

Food was good but nothing to rave about. They were out of many items on menu. Ordered the manti and was told it would be 20-24 minutes. We agreed, but it took far longer than that. I had to ask if it was still coming. What really ticked me off was a couple came in after us, ordered manti and got it relatively quickly. Like 15-20 minutes before us. I had to inquire about it with the waiter. He assured me it would be out shortly. Also the manti stated it is 6 pieces and we got only 4. The couple got the full six. And they were lukewarm at best. Absolutely delicious but kinda pricey. We ordered a couple samsa, manty, and chicken kabobs just to try for our first order. Everything tasted really good, but even having spent $30 for two people we were still a bit hungry. We're definitely going to come back to try other things but going to try to keep ourselves from overspending. Also, I wish there were descriptions on their website for some of the dishes...being Russian I recognize half the menu but there are some even I'm not familiar with. I'm from a Uzbekistan and was visiting from Cleveland. In cleveland we do not have authentic Uzbek food unless we make it at home. It was an absolute treat to find this gem! Everything was authentic and delicious. As alway, when I find myself at a Uzbek establishment, I order almost everything off the menu! I had, Samsa, Shurpa, Manti, Plov and Kebobs.... Ordered Plov it was 2-3 days old. Tea pot wasn't clean. sorry, but would you serve tea in this tea pot when u have a guest in ur house. I would love to see clean places from Uzbek people, which we usually keep in our tradition. Ordered manti. As always it's delicious. But 1 star for all experience that I had today. Delicious. Didn't know what to expect. Was a little confused as to if we were supposed to seat ourselves or order at the counter. Ultimately, we ordered at the counter, but am still not sure if that was what was expected. It was 4pm on a Sunday and they were sold out of the Chiburek and the ragu with chicken. I think there were about six four top tables and a larger table at the back. The samsa was a little salty, but had a great chewy pastry texture. The Pirojki was a completely different texture, but basically a fried dough puff filled with mashed potatoes. We also got the grechka, beef cutlets with buckwheat and mashed potatoes which was well seasoned and moist. The tuy kebab, lamb stew was delicious. The meat was very tender. We got some fresh bread to dip and it was perfect. The portions aren't very big but everything was very tasty and they were very nice. Limited drink options but most people were drinking tea. Noticed a lot of tables had ordered a skewer dish, so we'll have to try that next time. read more

Been to this place few times, usually delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. Last night went there for a take away, my son is ill so needed a quick fix, i called the man who picked up the phone says he doesn't speak english. Okay i ask my friend who's a Russian speaker to order for me. Says 10mins of waiting time, go there on time to pick up, rings me up and says 19.79$ i give him $50 gets 30$ change without a blink. Okay it's 20 something cents I usually wouldn't mind tipping, hell if you smiled and gave me my receipts i would've tipped you 2$. And it was overly seasoned cold six pieces of manty (steamed dumplings) for $15.99. Really disappointed with the services and food this time around. Hopefully they will work to improve. But not going there again for sure. read more

They have delicious samsa, tortillas and chicken skewers. Everything is cooked in an oven. I haven't tried any of the other products yet, but I will soon. read more

Service is not good. We were waiting for an order which suppose to be ready in 10-15 min for more than half an hour being the only 2 guests in whole restaurant, so we just paid for what we had and left without finishing our dinner. We are not going there any more. read more

STAY AWAY! I made the mistake of stopping in this place, thinking it was still Bait Cafe. It took FOREVER for someone to come out of the kitchen, and a family dining in (is this even allowed right now? I was under the impression that indoor dining is NOT allowed due to all the recent cases of COVID) had to send their young daughter back to the kitchen door to knock on it to get someone to come out. A very young woman (MAYBE 16?) came out and I told her I wanted to place an order to pick up later. She walked to the register, and I approached the register and began giving her the order I wanted based off the Bait Cafe menu on their website. She looked at me like I'd grown three heads. I told her I had looked at their website last night to which she said, "We don't have a website." I said, "Your Bait Cafe website." She proceeded to tell me the place is no longer Bait Cafe and that they just haven't changed the sign yet. OK... So I asked to see a menu. She hands me a NON-disposable menu to look at. I wound up choosing "Manty" which are apparently beef dumplings which you have to buy per dumpling. Again, OK... and I also ordered a beef and rice soup. I told her I'd pick it up at 7:30pm. She said I could pick it up now, then looked at me and asked me if it would be easier to pick up later. I said later would be better. So I came back at 7:30 to get my order, and paid and went home. I had expected a HOT meal so I could just sit down and eat. Nope. Everything was cold and I had to nuke it all. Great. Then I sat down. It tasted good. I finished the soup, and ate two of the five (they're on the large side) dumplings I'd ordered. So why the 1 star? Why am I warning you to stay away? Because this morning I woke up with a nauseous stomach and promptly began vomiting everything from last night back up. I am assuming I got food poisoning. I assume this based on the fact that this was the only thing I ate last night, AND the fact that NO ONE in that place was wearing a mask, nor do they do the "social" (god, how I hate that term, as it's anything BUT social) distancing, and based upon that, and the fact that they have these giant round bread things on a tray next to the register NOT individually wrapped; NOT wrapped AT ALL (how unhygienic, ESPECIALLY now), and I really doubt anyone washed the menu I'd touched earlier and it looks like it's the only menu the place has. Ergo, it leads me to believe that it's highly probably that the kitchen is less than hygienic, and I have to wonder if anyone is washing their hands. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY! There are plenty of other restaurants which will NOT make you sick after eating their food!!! And I'm guessing on the opening date as they were open last week I think as the owners were inside and the lights were on, and the door was open. But whenever they opened officially, it is recent. I wish the place was still Bait Cafe. Their menu looked delicious and I'm sorry I never tried the place (though until this weekend, I'd no idea the place had been a restaurant. Based upon the name, I'd assumed it was some sort of fish and tackle shop, or maybe an Internet cafe). I'm also GUESSING on the type of food it is. The name (which is painted in the front window) says Tandoor Samsa, which indicated Indian, but the food seems anything but, and the people do not look Indian, so it's anyone's guess what type of food it is representative of. But since I can't add this place to yelp until I select a category, I selected Indian based upon the name. If anyone knows what the place really is, feel free to change it to what it really is. read more
