This place still has decent food and places to sit with an old worn out interior. Just know about the credit card surcharge they dont tell you in advance. The service wasnt good either because i was waiting several minutes while nobody came up to the cash register or acknowledged me. You walk into a Mexican themed authentic vibe with latino music playing. The server greeted me at the door and sat me down right away. The owner came in to check in on me as well. The menu is filled with variations from tacos to burritos. I ordered two Birria tacos and one gyros taco with rice and beans. I also ordered the cafe con leche flan. I was happy to see my food come beautifully plated and appetizing. The rice and beans were authentic and were not over cooked. It had a slight seasoning but was good as a side dish. The Birria tacos were good, there was a nice cook on the tortilla, a good amount of beef and was not drenched in the consume. There was grilled cheese and onions and cilantro as well. All in all, it was a nice touch and taste was good. The meat was moist and well seasoned. The gyros taco was bomb; it had a mix of thin sliced gyros, avocado, sour cream and cilantro and onions. It was juicy meat and not too thick. Great quality cuts in the meats. I was greeted later by the owner as he asked about my experience. I told him about adding grilled chicken breast tacos to the menu and he decided to whip one taco up for me this way. The taco was phenomenal and was told they would add it to the menu soon. The grilled char and seasoning made for a great taste. Highly recommended! The chips and salsa were okay but the food was amazing nonetheless. Cute place tucked into the corner of a strip mall. Lots of faux greenery and flowers. Very clean and casual, and the owner that waited on us was pleasant. The taco dinner had corn tortillas and were wrapped beautifully so they don't get soggy when I get home. The beans are vegetarian so I don't have to worry about lard. We were going to be in Schaumburg, so I looked up halal places to eat at. I was pleasantly surprised to find a new halal Mexican restaurant. To be clear, not everything is halal, but the halal items are clearly marked on the menu and include chicken tinga, steak arrachera, and lamb barbacoa. It's similar to Tacochela in that respect. The restaurant is located in an old plaza on Algonquin, not far from the highway exit. The interior felt quaint and warm. Only about 7 tables, but several bar seats as well. You seat yourself and they bring menus to the table. We ordered a chicken tinga enchilada and steak arrachera flauta. Wow! Both dishes were delicious. The flautas were nice and crispy, and the enchiladas were flavorful. They provided two sauces as well. The green one was mild, but the red one had some kick to it. At $16 per dish, it was pricey compared to Garden Fresh Taqueria, but overall a very good meal. Looking forward to trying their burrito and torta someday. read more

This place is good! We usually always order the gyro tacos and they are delicious! They don't skimp on the meat and toppings. We've tried the cheese quesadilla and nachos too, both good. The owner and his dad are usually always there and they genuinely care about feedback. My only drawback is that sometimes the tacos aren't that good, so there's some inconsistency, and once they didn't put any avocado on the 9 tacos we ordered, even though that's standard on the gyro tacos (at the time of this review). I posted a review 6 months back of this hidden gem, and came back online tonite to attach a couple more pictures. I cannot get over how scrumptious these meals were. Chicken flautas were so crispy and filled with juicy chicken inside, finger licking sour cream and complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is not chunky, but rather smooth and blended well. Very flavorful, and chips were freshly made. Horchata came in a very tall generously sized glass mug. The service was very impeccable. Our waiter kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything and asked us if we enjoyed the meal. You can tell that the owner and workers take pride in their work here. Each entree was garnished with a beautiful and edible purple orchid flown in from Hawaii. The price point for these dishes were relatively reasonable given the large portion size. Finally an authentic Mexican restaurant, giving off a Latin flare located at the corner of a strip mall offering seating both inside and outdoor. The restroom was clean and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. There's a larger room for parties indoor behind the main bar and few tables past the entrance. Tried this restaurant out today when I was on my way home. I wasn't really expecting much, I am from the South Side and the Tacos in the North Side and the Suburbs just aren't usually that good, but I'm happy to say that I was surprised at how good the tacos here were! I was really craving some Al Pastor Tacos and they don't have them here, so I decided to try the Birria and the Maji Maji tacos. They were both really good and would eat either one again, but the Birria was my favorite! I got some Asada tacos for my daughter and she said that they were really good, and she is a teen and critical of everything so that must be a good sign, right?! This is one of our go-to spots! A hidden gem! They always fulfill your order with 100% accuracy and they have super reasonable prices! It only takes about 10-15 mins for them to make food for 2 people, who wouldn't choose a "healthier" form of fast food!! Super authentic taste and I can tell they use fresh ingredients! I've been driving past this place for a long time and wondering if it was one of those hidden gems. So tonight, for Cinco de Mayo I decided to give it a try, knowing the bigger places would be packed. It looks nice inside, a little upscale from Taco el Norte, but not quite the glorious atmosphere of a Javier's, Salsa 17 or Uncle Julio's. The server was a train wreck but I took it in stride because she was young and just started working there. I ordered a Heineken, she brought me a Heineken light. I ordered the loaded tacos and she brought me the regular ones. But she was sweet and apologetic and attentive so I just laughed it off as her being a newbie. She made everything right in the end so it was kinda cute how she fumbled through the service trying to get things right. I gave her a big tip because she gave it a college try and in the end, fixed what she messed up. For dinner I got 3 tacos (shredded chicken, steak, and pork) with rice and refried beans. The food was good. On a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being Milwalky Taco, and places like Javier's being an 8, I'd say this place was a 5 or 6. The refried beans looked a little watery, like how oatmeal is when served in most restaurants. The rice was rice. The steak taco was... ok. The pork had a good flavor. And the chicken one was ok. We also got guacamole. It was also a little watery looking. Not really creamy like most places. It tasted fine. As for the patrons. Early on there were some local families and guys getting off of construction jobs stopping in to get takeout. But by 8 pm it was filled with 20, 30 and some 40 somethings. (It kinda looked like they were hosting a Cinco de Mayo for Yelpers.) I'd go back if a friend wanted to stop there, but it won't be one of my top five choices if I get a craving for Mexican food. read more
