They were doing a job for a neighbor, and I struck up a conversation with the driver. He recalled having taking care of my home in the past, and offered a round about date and location of the cesspool. A fess days later I called to get the actual date of the last pump out for my NEW house. Whomever works the phones shouldn't. First call was from his own employee, and he said he was not at his computer and could not look it up. Second call was from me, and once again, unable to tell me, but he'd call back. He did not. I called a third time, four days later and was met with a rather combative person, barely gave me a chance to speak. He said his employee didn't know what he's talking about. (Nice way to stand behind the people who work with/for you.) I countered and said, "well if he didn't know what he was talking about, he certainly knew exactly where the cesspool cap was, it took him all of five seconds to locate. He even provided me with a round about date of the last pump out. I was merely looking to get a more exact date for so I could schedule regular maintenance. Unfortunately, this gentleman was not interested in servicing the location for some reason. Clearly very annoyed about my contacting him, I got a smaller dose of his less than pleasant temperament on the first call, but I chose to dismiss it as I did not know the man. The natural, more professional response would have been; "I can't seem to locate you in our computer, but to be safe, maybe we can schedule someone to come out and give things a look?" Best case, he gains a new client , worst case he only make few bucks for site visit/consultation. The Driver/Tech was fantastic! Not only did he go out of his way, he was very personable and had a great way about him. I was all set to make this the "go to" company, but with service like that from the point of contact, I could not pull that trigger. Ya win some, ya lose some. 78 minutes from my call and the "boys" come backing into the driveway. On a Saturday!!! I had called my home warranty company around 11 am (probably wasn't gonna cover this anyway), and they called 7 of their "approved" plumbers and cesspool service companies. BZZZZTTTTTT We waited for their guy to call back for 2 hours. they i stayed on HOLD for over 30 minutes as customer services called 6 more and nobody picked up, just answering services and voice mail. ONE call to SOS and "Michelle" picked up. Lives in the area, so is the company, and so are my new front yard buddies Phillip and Shawn. we had "it all" backed up into the downstairs tub, the toilet and dripping into the basement from overflowing the bathroom floor. Found the two sand tanks (they were filled to the ground level and backed up), found the 1,000 gallon solids "coffin". Cleaned em out, acid washed and turbulated, had to suck out some grease and then had to blow out the grease and clog from the vent to the concrete coffin. Even found some "flushable" wipes and grease globs. Not sure if they gave me sympathy pricing or just wanted to get out of there and not hear me talk or whine anymore.......but pricing was REALLY fair and reasonable and considering the emergency nature of it all, i feel I owe them the time and compliment of my favorable feedback........the "admiral" left the house with my daughter and i was penniless - so much to MY disappointment i had NO cash for my new frozen yard dirt and snow and freezing sewer water playmates? Call them for a cesspool regular appointment and got 3 different quotes way over priced . I canceled them not once but twice same day . Next morning some guy in SOS pump trunk banging on my door with Fing and Fing that says what's the problem. I explain plus I said not sure exactly where Cesspool is but got a good idea . Guy says that's going to cost Fing minimum $550 if you are clueless. I said get off my lawn and my two little girls don't need to here your Fing mouth . As I reminded him I canceled your company x2 prior a day and half ago . Call some other company IslandCesspool pros I think . Young kid came polite dug around the property, found my cesspool and all . $300 not including I tipped him for being a swell honest worker . read more

Called SOS to locate my tank prior to a large backyard makeover in June. They came located and pumped the pool. Few weeks later had issues where sewage was coming out my vent in the backyard. Called SOS again, they snaked the line and thought it was fixed. 2 weeks later came back again to resnake as vent was overflowing again. Same day they came back to snake through the pool towards the house. Found a blockage and possible damaged line. Water was flowing and said if it doesnt work they'll install a clean out in the line. Not even a week later overflow came out again from the vent. Scott came back (who is nice and knowledgeable) had to open the entire line. Said the electrician possibly cut through the main line. He removed the damaged part and inserted a new. I wish they would have repaired the line the last time they were here as its hours waiting around. And most likely knew it was inevitable. Scott said I have old main line and was careful cutting the damaged line away and was gentle removing plants and watching the electrical and sprinkler lines. read more

I was very pleased by SOS's service. They came on a Saturday and at the time promised. Took care of the problem efficiently and without issue. My only comment is I think they are expensive, but didn't get a chance to shop around as SOS was the first service called and they were available to come that afternoon. read more

I called the Northwest Suffolk office in December to get my cesspool pumped and was told by John to call sometime after mid-January because he was too busy. I call today and the receptionist tells me I will get a call back "if he is interested" and then would not even take my name and number. The regret is waiting well over a month for a business to behave completely unprofessionally. read more

Terrible service. They just take the money and run. My cesspool failed within 9 months where it requires service every 3-4 years. If you hire them watch them and make sure they aerate. read more
