Have used them in the past and was satisfied, however when they arrived I was offered a "special" more complete cleaning, aeration and pumping of more liquid for $450, which I declined. I wanted to pay $169 per ad. After pumping out I was told there is a dumping fee of $80 as well as a digging fee of $50 (my cover is 2-4" of grass, not 12"). My mom phoned payless cesspool sewer & drain in rocky point today for a yearly service fee of $169.50 ; to throw a $21 product in the cesspool. The older guy tried to sell her some bs package which she replied no . My mom is a tough 80 year old who wo't be taken for a fool! His manner changed when she said she was only paying the $169.5O package & his reply was that he would not have come. He also added an additional $75 to get rid of waste which she was not informed of. After a 25 minute job the young kid worked on the old guy got out of his car to give my mom the bill . She was told that they needed work to make a larger hole which will cost her over $3500 with no estimate breakdown ! Older people need more aware of companies that change prices or make up repairs !!!! Lesson learned!!!! read more

Installed a Septic tank in the snow and refused to come back to finish with the huge dirt piles left in my yard that are filled with large sections of slate from the slate wall they mowed down. Called them many times and they refused to work with me and have yelled at me and hung up on me. I now have to hire someone to clean up the mess they left. We have a small bungalow on the bay. Our toilets were backing up. I called on Sunday and after a reminder call during the late afternoon on Monday, they showed up at 5pm on Monday. The cesspool cover is exposed, so there was no digging. They said they would pump out and add chemicals. After a few flushes we determined it was not the cesspool but probably a clog in the house. Our son removed a toilet bowl and asked the Payless crew, who were ready to leave, to electrically snake the line. We paid $675 that night for pumping a cesspool and it wasn't really the problem. During the following two weeks we were hearing the glub-glub in the toilet bowl. We limped along not using the washing machine and limited the amount of flushing. By week three the washing machine water backed up into the shower and the toilets no longer evacuated when flushed. We tried limiting water usage but had enough, we contacted Payless again, hoping they would come and correct our clogged situation because they never corrected the clog on the first call. They came 2 days after the recall, wouldn't take any responsibility saying they weren't plumbers. My husband ordered them out of the house. Called another cesspool company who showed up in 2 hours, went under the house to clear the clog and aerated the cesspool for $500. read more

2 days ago I needed cesspool servicing and was given the name of Payless Cesspool, Sewer and Drain from my neighbor who had used them and highly recommended them. From my initial phone call with Roseann, I was treated respectfully, responsively and with a great deal of kindness. (I had recently lost my husband who always handled this kind of stuff, was a bit emotional and didn't even know where the cesspool was!) Roseann was so comforting to me and told me not to worry, they would take care of everything. The next morning two men arrived to do the work. James was amazing. He handled everything with kindness and confidence and immediately put me at ease. He explained what was going on and what needed to be done. I felt not only taken care of but cared for! The work was done quickly and thoroughly. Because there was a flood in my basement, James also suggested I look into restoration services as there could be potential for mold from the water damage. I called this firm to clean out my cesspool and septic tank after I had a backup into my shower. I called them early in the morning and advised I needed quick service. They show up hours after and it all went down hill from there. I provided them with a survey of where tanks were located and they couldn't find the access point to plug in their machine to pump out. The workers even remarked how owner of firm doesn't equip them with proper tools to locate access points. (metal detector) As they poked into ground to find access point they broke one of my in ground sprinkler heads. It was a mess then they called owner to remark they could not find access to drain tank and he advised me to get a survey with measurements on where exactly tank was located. So I called builder of home and they sent me a survey with exact measurements of where tank was located. I printed it out gave it them and they said they couldn't find it as they did not have proper tools. As it started to snow they got frustrated and said they would come back. I feel bad for workers because the owner of firm doesn't care to equip men with proper tools to do there job. So one of the guys says we have to charge you for a service call. The charge is 75.00. I couldn't believe they wasted my day sitting home waiting for them broke my sprinkler head and didn't solve my issue. On top of it they wanted to charge me. I advised workman come back tomorrow fix issue and I will gladly pay you for a job well done. He said well if we come back tomorrow and fix it we will deduct it from your total bill. At that point I lost all confidence in this firm. I told workman let me call your office talk to boss. I told owner how can you charge me you didn't resolve issue and broke my sprinkler head. He started yelling I had to pay him or else. I said I would not unless you fixed issue. He yelled at me some more then told me to have a nice day and hung up the phone on me. My home has a commercial grade HD surveillance camera system I wish I could post video of this entire event. Now not only do I still have cesspool which needs to be pumped but I have to call my lawn sprinkler guy to fix my sprinkler-head. Sure that's going to run me 220 easy. Highly frustrated how this went down caused me more damage and owner doesn't even care. You would think he would have gotten into his own vehicle and come down himself to lend his expertise. But obviously doesn't care about his customers or thinks about repeat business. Note pictures of truck say owner operated. More like owner absent and he doesn't care. Her man, "Walter" was caught in the age old scam of refilling our tank from his truck when he thought nobody was looking. (This enables them to save on dumping fees at the local sewage facility). A call to the licensee resulted in an increase of $100 to complete the job. The local Police were ultimately called to assist us homeowners in removing this company from our premises. If I could give this company less than one star it would make this review more accurate. We had an issue with a backup in a waste line which caused the toilet to not empty completely. Called Payless (thinking a local company would take better care of local customers than some other company in another zip code). I was wrong!! They showed up, fixed the problem (or so we thought, at a cost of over $800.00 for less than 2hrs work). Two days later we had the toilet back up into the tub!!! Called them again and was informed by a nasty woman in the office that "the boss" said that despite the fact that they were just here for that same problem, the job wasn't "guaranteed" because our pipes were "crimped" and the worker couldn't get complete access to the clog. Funny how that inability to reach the obstruction and fixing the issue didn't stop them from charging top dollar for half-assed work! We called RotoRooter and the clog was completely cleared within half an hour of arrival. I guess they have tools that magically move through "crimped pipes"! After spending hours trying to determine if we had a clog or a full tank, we called their office mid afternoon on a Saturday afraid we called to late in the day for someone to show up...but we were lucky and Joe arrived about an hour later. He was informative and professional. We needed a pump out, but we had no idea where the tank was. He not only found the tank, he dug it up the cover for us. It was raining pretty hard at the time too. After he pumped out the solids, he snaked the pipes because they weren't draining properly. He made sure that everything was working as it should before he left. He advised us in future care and maintenance of our system as well. read more

I had two dealings with Payless.... A year ago Walter came, found our pool and pumped it out - he was super courteous and professional. A year later - 3 weeks ago - I called and spoke with Jim to get a quote for a whole new system. I had at least 4 more conversations with Jim over the next two weeks - he visited our house while I was away to look over what we needed. He called me on a Sunday afternoon to again go over the project. I never felt rushed or pushed, but rather felt like I was talking to a person who cared about my families needs for our house. Jimmy got us on the schedule and his crew showed up the day he said they would. Over the course of a few hours, his entire crew along with his son, showed incredible skill with machinery, communication like a well oiled machine, and took incredible care to keep our driveway intact and installed a brand new system. The excavator on his crew used grass and a tarp like a surgeon to prevent damage to pavers on the driveway - I was so impressed with the care and skill his crew used and give them my highest recommendation. If you ever need work done for a cesspool/septic Jimmy and the Payless crew will go beyond your expectations - and the price was better than any other quote I received from 3 other companies. Can i give negative 5 stars? this company should be ashamed of themselves for their business practices. They are unprofessional and incapable of performing the services they advertise. They came to service my cesspool and charged hundreds of dollars only to say they could not find the cesspool even though i showed them where it was on the survey. "Jim" was on his cell phone studying amusing postings and laughing and sharing with the other fellow who was doing some digging. In the end he said he had to return the next day with digging equipment and would charge another $600 or more to "find the pool". But said he had already me $700 off the actual price - all total would have been over $2000!!!. I called another service i found on Home Advisor and they showed up the next day, pumped the septic and cesspool, aerated and BTW found the cesspool and Septic tank in minutes, added the chemicals and charged the same price Payless charged for doing nothing. Came to pump my pool and told me that it was collapsed and that I needed to have a new one installed ASAP and they would not guarantee there work. Called in another company that told me the pool was fine and that they pumped out water but no solid material. In the end they tried to hard cell me into a new $4000.00 dollar system with scare tactics and lies. Sent a camera into to pool and have proof that it is not collapsed. We Feel ripped off. After five minutes of hydrojetting our cesspool, I was asked how many toilets we had which is two. The serviceman asked me to go inside quickly and flush both toilets two times each which I did. My wife watched him from a window. Upon my return, the cover was back on. I asked him how much chemical (typically sulfuric acid) he put in as I noticed there was no can/bottle within sight. He told me "5 gallons". Our regular cesspool service company was unavailable. He took 5 more minutes to write out a receipt and secure his hose. I still saw not smelled any chemical (which has a very recognizable smell). I asked about my senior discount. He said it's already included, which seemed peculiar since I hadn't mentioned it before. He then drove off. My wife watched him the entire time through the window and said she didn't see him pour anything into the cesspool after he hydrojetted it for only a couple minutes. I realized then that he sent me inside to flush the two toilets to stall for time while he packed up and closed the top. He obviously lied to me about the chemical and my senior discount. He did not take advantage of me and my husband being young, naive first time homeowners. His price was fair/manageable and A LOT lower than other companies we quoted. Do not use this company, they sent a guy to pump my cesspool who proceeded to break my cesspool cover which cost $50.00 to replace and the only thing they could say is sorry but it was an old cover, and they told us they cost around $20 (not true) at a precast place, and when I called the owner he didn't care.
