Was here in early January for a quick bite with a couple of people. It's not a bad spot to grab some sushi if you have a craving. My table ordered a sushi platter and I went with the shrimp tempura. It was decent but I wouldn't say that it's the best I ever had. The restaurant is small and cozy. We were the only ones in there so the service was quick and efficient. Ive come here before but forgot the food so we decided to try here again and the sushi was good . I ordered a couple signature rolls and a regular roll . The fish was fresh . Didnt make my stomach hurt like other sushi places in the area . We walked in to order and the establishment itself was empty . Literally just us and the 2 people working there . It seems like they get alot more to go orders than a actual dine in . It had a typical sushi restaurant esthetic , dim colors, bamboo furniture. It was clean . If you are craving stale and underseasoned Japanese food, this is your place. I ordered the beef hibachi and upon the waiter asking me how the food was, I expressed that it tasted stale & was told that I was wrong. Needless to say, I switched it with the California roll and it was average. I also had Thai iced tea which was pure sugar, completely undrinkable. As for the ambiance, there was no AC, just a small standing fan barely blowing any air. Also, upon explaining my dissatisfaction, the waiter kept giving me and my party an attitude and constantly stared at us with a snarky expression. It was incredibly uncomfortable to remain there. Meh. Ordered a pickup order on a weeknight via Postmates/UberEats. It was ready quickly, and pickup was easy. Prices were about what you might expect. The food quality was just so-so. The food was incredibly mediocre. I've never really had sushi that mid before, that REQUIRED sauce. The sesame shrimp was bland and on a bed of wilted lettuce with unseasoned broccoli. My friend and I dined in and pre ordered a meal to go and they forgot half the order. We were leaving about 15 minutes to close and the waitress was rushing us out and kept asking us what we were waiting for even though we told her we were just waiting for our Ubers because it was raining outside. Oh, I love this places dinner box. It's like a Bento box and it comes with white rice, dumplings, and a sushi roll and then whatever your entrée is and it is my favorite thing to order because it gives you a little bit of everything in just one box. I also like their packaging it's very on brand with Japanese food. I also really like that it comes with a soup and a salad. It's like a complete meal for the money you pay for. The price did increase since the last time I ordered which I'm a little bit sad about but it is what it is. And I recommend everyone should get the mochi ice cream because it is delicious. read more

I believe it's 3 rolls for $11-$12....Other than that there sushi is far from the best I've ever had but it was ok. I also ordered the sweet potato tempura. When it came in delivery it was pretty soggy and not good. I just think if your going to deliver give it 110%. Online ordering via grubhub was a breeze. read more

We were craving sushi and decided to try a new place. This had a A in health grade so why not, right? Lesson of the day: A Health grade does not mean the fish is fresh. Sashimi is only a dollar for a reason. Spend a few extra bucks and get it fresher from somewhere else. Also sashimi is supposed to be the best cut of the fish ... if that was the best cut I don't want any of the first at all. And also it was cut was too thick and clumpy. I also tried the yellowtail with jalapeño appetizer as its one of my favorites. You could tell the jalapeño came picked from a jar. This should always be served with a fresh thinly slices jalapeño for optimal pairing. I was highly disappointed. read more

If you are looking for DECENT sushi, this is definitely a good place to try! However be warned of a few things: I say decent sushi, because it's tasty, but definitely not spectacular! If you've been to sugar fish, NoBu etc you will definitely NOT be blown away by any means. However, if you just so happen to be close by & have a serious craving for sushi, this place will definitely hit the spot (: Also, I have never gotten treated badly here, not once. I've come to terms that many restaurants that do PRIMARILY take out orders don't usually have warm & cuddly customer service. Do they have seating? Yes. Is almost always empty @ least when I've come there? Yes. So, all this to say, don't come here for the hugs. Do stay for the sushi & the delicious green tea ice cream! This my go to sushi place in my neighborhood because it is always so hard to find food outside of the normal fast food locations. For the location and price, the food is decent. I've been ordering from them for years and honestly, this review is based on delivery and communication. I normally stick to what i like when it comes to sushi- spicy tuna and California rolls (i know, basic but don't judge me. I like what i like haha). When *I* order from them, the fish tastes fresh (because I've seen the complaints) and it tastes good. I had their specifically Odessa roll too and it was also really good. Plus, their spicy Mayo tastes good. Some places have weird spicy Mayo (which tastes sweeter and i hate that) but i like theirs. Also, i recently adventured towards getting edamame! I think they put too much salt but overall, when it is delivered, it is still good and not mushy. Plus, delivery is great! They are super quick and always listen to my contactless delivery instructions! So i will continue to support them because I haven't been disappointed yet! read more

This place is truly amazing if you're looking for sushi and Japanese food. I've never actually been to the place to sit down for a meal, but had delivery service. Let me say, the food and the service are worth your time and money. The food is always fresh when you get it, and it only takes 10 minutes for them to deliver your food to the house if you live in Mill Basin or Bergen beach. One thing that I would most definitely recommend from this restaurant would be the Ginza rolls. These things are made with brown rice or white(you can choose), caviar, and filled to the brim with salmon, and onion tempura with plain mayonnaise or spicy, depending on your preferences. The servings are nice and large, as one order includes six rolls and sides of ginger and wasabi which are pretty delicious, by the way. I once did take out from this place, and the atmosphere is for the most part quiet, and the servers or cashiers are very nice. If I can get this place more than five stars, I most definitely word, and I would most likely say that this is a 10 out of 10 recommendation if you like Japanese food. I like to order from here because the food always looks fresh and not super oily like other places. I'm giving them a 3 star because the food is just "good." Pros: Large space. Clean. Quick service. Good prices during lunch hours. Standard, but still delicious, well made sushi. Fresh ingredients (the avocados are never brown or mushy, the fish smells good and tastes fresh, etc.). They deliver quickly. They are open late (later than the neighbouring restaurants! (11pm)). They give you a cut up orange with the check. Con: They raised their prices. It's not terrible, but I miss the cheap rolls. (Pro- I think it's cheaper than the neighbouring sushi place on ave U by key food) Overall, I really like this place; good service, good food. read more

I always order my sushi from here! If I have any advice it would be to order in rather than eat out here. There is one lady that works her butt off there everyday and she is constantly juggling delivery phone orders and waitressing if there are people inside. I normally order from the maki combination, great prices if you're looking for something on the inexpensive side and is more filling. I always order spicy mayo because it's a perfect addition to any sushi roll. I love the way they make their spicy mayo because it is filled with more spice than mayo. I personally think too much mayo in a spicy mayo is nauseating with fish. Which is something they do a great job at. Soy sauce is a little too salty for my taste. Otherwise, the food is always on time, the fish is fresh, their food is reliable, and does the job. Their shrimp hibachi fried rice is delicious. My suggestion for the people who stick to only California rolls is to order a California roll with cream cheese and soy paper. (Don't knock it until you try it). Love this place! read more

My food was almost 2 hours late, I ordered $50 worth of food and my Salmon teriyaki was totally burnt! The driver arrives with the nastiest attitude and gives me my food. So he's waiting in the hall and I asked do you need me to sign the receipt he said no it says cash tip! I said I'm not giving you a tip for a delivery that took almost 2 hours. He walks away and then says f**k you loud and repeatedly. I called the restaurant and told them what happened and that I would never order from them again and would give a bad review! Delicious. Expensive, Slow. Recommended to anyone if you are near, if not. stray away, there's nothing super special and different to other japanese spots that are owned by chinese people. Other than that, it's delicious everytime. A Tad expensive and their Spider Roll(Crab) has gotten disgusting over the years but I still am a fan of their other rolls. The delivery to my house which is about a 5-7minute drive, 10 if you're cruising slow. So I understand 25minutes-ish. They used to be about that time. Now so far the last couple of times very recently they've been oddly slow taking 45minutes++. Also when I call I get a "He's on the way left 5-10minutes ago" and then another 20minutes. I've been ordering from Sosaku for years. Very consistent quality. Their lunch boxes are awesome with TONS of food. I always have leftovers. I've eaten at quite a few Japanese restaurants & this one is pretty good. DOWNSIDE: The delivery guys have lots of attitude. I usually tip $3 plus whatever change is left over when I round off the bill to the nearest dollar (about 15-20% of bill) but they feel he should get a table service tip. One time he actually said "give me 1 more dollar." Now I only give them $2 plus remaining change since they're going to be rude & ungrateful anyway. I've not ordered from them a few times bcuz I didn't want to deal with delivery guys ungrateful tude. But for the delivery guys, i'd give them 5 stars! read more
