Stopped in for lunch and got a chicken portobello sandwich, with the sandwich you get two sides, so I got the bean salad and the couscous. While waiting for the to go for, I sat and ordered a chai tea. The chai was watered down and didn't have much flavor. Each of the food items were a little dry but had potential. When I got home I added some ingredients and that helped. Inside the café, there's little games and it's very quaint inside. The bathrooms are clean and even have a little inspirational sticker wall where you can leave notes for others. Parking was easy at that time on the street, but it is paid metered parking. This shop is downtown and has a handsomely decorated interior. It is open for breakfast, but thankfully they offer a full menu with the lunch items as well because the breakfast menu didn't have much I'd want. The lunch menu, on the other hand, had some creative vegetarian and vegan sandwiches. Picking one of the more straightforward ones, I got sides of chickpeas and greens for a pleasantly healthy breakfast. It took a bit to make fresh, but it was worthwhile, even though I carried it a bit too far and it was starting to get soggy. read more

As a longtime vegan, I was genuinely excited by how many plant based options were available. I ordered This Little Piggy, a vegan, soy based Eastern Carolina style "B.B.Q." with lettuce, tomatoes, and arugula on wheat bread, and it was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. I also tried The Angus with marinated vegan "beef," tomatoes, arugula, and homemade vegan basil pesto on a baguette, and it was just as good. For a non vegan take, my husband ordered The Guido with port marinated roast beef, caramelized onions, gorgonzola, and arugula on ciabatta and loved it. Everything we tried was a hit. Bonus points for celebrating 20 years in business. Such a special Raleigh staple worth supporting. read more

WOW, this was one of the best meals I've EVER had! I'll come back at least once every time I visit Raleigh. I don't normally like couscous, but it was fantastic! And I loved the pesto and the burger! 3.5 round up to 4. Sassy chic vintage vibe with cool art. A very casual place to have lunch solo, with a friend, or with colleagues. I've only tried their salads and coffee. Love, love the curry chicken salad - sometimes I go there for that alone! My go-to in downtown Raleigh for chicken salad. Coffee drinks I've had there are ok, but I probably wouldn't go there just for coffee. read more

This spot is perfect for lunch. It was the guido sandwich with Israeli couscous and chickpea salad with a latte for my husband and the alpine sandwich with Israeli couscous and chickpea salad with an orange juice for me. Ambience was alright given the Britny Spears playlist which make me wonder if the owner is a teenage girl that just got out of a breakup but the music wasn't terribly loud so it's forgiven lol. As a vegetarian/vegan couple in town over a long weekend, this place was a little haven after a few days. I was craving some lighter fare & the greens/bean sides here were exactly what I needed. I got a sandwich, but the sides were what I really liked. With so many fake meat options in downtown, finding a bean in its true form was refreshing. I clearly looked overwhelmed as I looked over the menu and when I was asked if I needed help, I told the gent behind the counter that I was on a keto diet so no bread. He offered to put together a prosciutto salad and I jumped on it. Holy smokes, this was excellent. A huge pile of thin sliced meat on to of a spinach salad tossed in a light vinaigrette dressing and mixed with roasted walnuts a bits of goat cheese. It was absolutely delicious and completely keto. The price was steep for the quantity and quality. It was also just a basic turkey sandwich nothing out of ordinary. Very skimpy on meat and didn't even taste cheese! I also had tomato soup that was very watery only a broth soup with barely any flavor. I did love the atmosphere of this cute place! The couscous side was good! If I were to go back I would probably get a vegetarian option seemed to be the things that everyone was ordering. read more

I love coming to Sosta Cafe. Favorite spot in town, period. Everything that is made here, from the coffee to the sandwiches to the soups is fresh, quality and made with this best ingredients. The Israeli couscous and the cannellini beans are mouth watering and savory. I usually eat really fast but I always find myself slowing down when eating here so that I can enjoy every last bite. Literally everything on the menu that you can get that is going to be 5-star quality. You can tell that perfection is put into each meal served. Additionally, the owner of Sosta has to be the most genuine, heart-felt man I've ever crossed paths with in my life. I've seen him take the time to converse with every single one of his customers that he comes across with - no matter how busy he may be. He has always been super friendly and welcoming to me. We always end up talking about the Carolina Hurricanes when I come in to dine (because I have a Hurricanes credit card I usually pay with). I recommend Sosta to everyone I come across with in the triangle area as the place you have to go to when in downtown Raleigh. I will continue to support that great business and I hope that more people will come to check out this great café. read more

First, to get this out of the way, I'm a little addicted to their brownies. There was a pan cooling at the front and I got to pick the one I wanted, which they pulled out for me right then and there. Nothing like it. Secondly, this is an awesome place for both meat-eaters (my favorite meat sandwich is the Alpine) and plant-based humans (the Angus, is simply amazing). And the SIDES. I could dive into a tray of their couscous. All of them are vegan, and they give you so much food I always order a to-go container when I place my sit-down order because I know I'm going to be taking half of it home with me (though see my first point - maybe this is because I always eat the dessert first?). This place is truly a local gem - eat local/support small businesses and go see them. Get a brownie (and extra points if it's still warm). They'll be happy to see you! :) read more

This small cafe is a fantastic little spot in the heart of downtown Raleigh. The decor is eclectic--in a good way--and the coffee beverages are of excellent quality. The owner is extremely friendly and the internet is free and decently fast. They open at 8am and there is a stream of regulars who the owner clearly knows. Went to pick up a delivery for DoorDash and the man working the register was incredibly rude and hostile when I told him the name for my order. I will never deliver from there again and I will never eat there. Do not patronize a business run by such a rude person. *** Edit as I cannot reply to comments: I am not a liar. You were rude and unhelpful when I was trying to do my job, same as you. You had stopped talking to those men and looked up at me, so I told you what I was there for. I did not interrupt you. When I told you why I was there you were absolutely rude to me. So you can pretend your reaction was justified as much as you like, but it costs nothing to be kind to someone. You could have simply asked me to wait one moment while you finished with the men who had already ordered and I would have done so happily. Sosta is the perfect lunch option downtown, it's fast and tasty. I like the laid back eclectic vibe of the interior. The mismash of tables and decor gives it a really cozy feeling. The menu isn't huge but has enough variety for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. They also note which items can easily be made vegan. I went with the tuna salad sandwich and wished I had just gotten the salad platter. I took the sandwich to go and the whole bottom got insanely soggy. I just tossed the bread and ate it as a sandwich anyways. The chickpea salad was excellent and I want to try out the couscous salad next time. The salad sampler has the tuna and chicken salad and all of the side salads. Definitely the way to go next time! read more

I am SO glad I came across this place on yelp during my visit to Raleigh. I was a little confused as to how this place worked though but you go up to the counter and order then someone brings you the food. The man working (I assume he's the one that owns/runs the place) was so incredibly nice and helpful. My husband ordered an iced mocha and said it was the best mocha he's ever had. It was flavorful but not too sweet. While we were sitting in there a few girls came in and ordered chai lattes and kept raving about how they were the best chai lattes they'd ever had. I ordered the ultimate cheese sandwich and the guy that took my order kinda picked my sides for me which was fine because they were good. My sandwich was very good but I don't think I would order it again. That is only because the sandwich my husband got was absolutely amazing. It was a vegan barbecue sandwich. I have no idea what it was made out of but it was one of the best sandwiches i've had. However, I heard they do sell out of this sandwich sometimes so beware. Wow! Simple open seating with great artwork each with its own story. The owner, Jerome, is warm and engaging and his place exudes comfort. My omelet was superb with a side of couscous. Wifey devoured her egg sandwich and croissant. Delicious coffee. Granted we enjoyed a late breakfast but I'm confident that lunch would also be soooooo sooooo satisfying. This place is kitschy and cute and I love it! There's a floor model tv at the door, funky art throughout, and even a little coffee bar. The owner is friendly and very cool and laid back. He greets everyone with a smile as he skillfully prepares all the coffee drinks. This is a tiny place where you instantly feel comfortable and there is no tv or radio blaring in here (thank goodness) and you can eat outside as well. We had a café au lait, the Piedmont (prosciutto di Parma) and the Ultimate cheese sandwich. I added spinach to my cheese sandwich but it really didn't need to be tweaked. It's packed full of gooey cheese and the flavor I got the most was the tangy Brie. The sandwiches come with 2 salads. Couscous salad is great and the Navy bean salad is as well. I definitely plan to return to this place. The food is healthy and satisfying, the coffee is strong, and the owner treats everyone like a friend. Love love love it! read more

I ordered the Mila sandwich with the couscous and chickpea sides. The couscous was delicious!!! I like the sandwich but it wasn't mind-blowing good. I liked how light the tuna salad was in the mila sandwich. It paired well with the juicy tomatoes and fresh lettuce. The portion size is excellent and it's not so pricey either! The staff is very friendly. This place has a coffee shop ambiance. Very cozy and the music is soothing, with no lyrics so it's not distracting to people who can study here. I love, love, love this spot! They have so many great options for vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters alike. One of the biggest standouts for me is their sides which are definitely not your typical boring side salads. Everything is flavorful and thoughtfully prepared here. Close to work. This is the greatest lunch spot in Raleigh. They have the tastiest cous cous, chickpea, and bean salad I've ever tried. I get the Guido, the Piedmont or one of the vegan options if I'm feeling like it. San Pellegrino and coffee are options to drink. Get the brownie if they have them. Dine in or takeout. Food came out in maybe 15 minutes. The cantaloupe soup was AMAZING... perfect for a summer day... super refreshing and tasty. The cheeseburgers were good too-- well dressed with an aioli, if I remember right, as well as fresh lettuce, tomatoes, etc. I appreciated that I didn't have to pop a lactase, too, since all vegan! The chips I think were store-made and were absolutely tasty-- we got a lot too and snacked off them for the next few days. And my girlfriend liked the mac and cheese. Service was friendly throughout, and cups were refilled. And I felt the prices were reasonable for what we got.
