Crab cakes. Oh. The greens were goodt.

First time in an all vegan restaurant I believe. First it is a spacious restaurant with eclectic decor. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. The staff was amazing. Customer service 10/10. Our server explained every dish for me and swapped out something I really didn't like. Now to the food. We ordered the fried mushrooms as an appetizer, the bbq sandwich which comes with fries, the crab cakes with a chickpea and cucumber salad and the red curry dish with naan. The appetizer was ok. The sauce was good but the mushrooms were a bit greasy. I probably wouldn't order them again. The bbq sandwich was chef's kiss delicious. Would definitely order again. I didn't like the crab cakes. The outside wasn't crunchy enough and the inside was too mushy and lacked crab flavor. The salad was delicious. The red curry was pretty good. I would order again. Overall a lovely dining experience and great alternative to the same ol thing. I'll be baack! (In my Arnold voice)

They are in a new location. There was plenty of parking. Went for Sunday brunch and the food did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was very friendly. We ordered the French toast with soysage (which was devoured immediately) and chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit. with home fries. The biscuit was dense and so delicious that we didn't use ketchup. The home fries were cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend!

Delicious experience here for dinner with some girlfriends. I had been wanting to try Fiction Kitchen for years but never got down there. Now they have a new location off of Crabtree Blvd which was lovely. We had reservations and were put in a big booth. Daily specials were written on a chalkboard. We missed them but our server read them to us. I ended up ordering the curry bowl with spice level of 2. It was absolutely fabulous and a good portion size. Friends ordered the peanut noodle bowl and the risotto and raved about them as well. Service was good and the chef even came out to ask how our meal was. I did not order a drink but they had a good beer/wine, cocktail selection. Also, if you are not vegan you can add protein to any meal. Loved that the menu was clearly labeled gluten free, nut free, soy free.

We were in the area visiting friends and I wanted to take my husband out for his birthday. We are vegan. Fiction Kitchen was recommended by local friends. The food was five star but service was a bit less than ideal. We had a reservation and watched someone without a reservation get seated first and we were then offered a table right by the kitchen. We were re-seated when we requested. Food took awhile to come out. But the food was good. The servings were huge! I think 3 of us could have split an entree. But we were glad to enjoy leftovers. The corn chowder was delightfully smoky. The popcorn chicken is soooo good. As is the grilled tofu. The table side cornbread - we inhaled it. One member of your party was disappointed with the panzanella salad but the risotto and dessert made up for it. We were so full we took the dessert home. A couple hours later, it was still amazing - the PB cheesecake and tres leches cake. As a non-drinker, I enjoyed the mocktail. It was vinegary and peachy - unique and tasty! I would return

Been dying to try this spot since discovered last fall.

From time to time, I venture new cuisines and tonight is vegan eats. We pulled up to the cutest cozy spot perfect for a date night or fancy little drink at the bar. Fiction Kitchen served up s scrumptious special with the most delicious bbq grilled oyster mushrooms, rice and brussel sprouts. My friends devoured their mac n cheese secret menu special. Shout out to the amazing staff that assisted in meal accommodations.

Great experience! Food: ordered the cornbread, locavore salad and lions mane Rangoon the for the table, had the farmers market special (gnocchi) with added crispy fried tofu for myself and an order of tres leche for dessert. Everything and I mean everything was amazing! Great flavors! Healthy servings and cooked perfectly. Service: we had reservations and were seated immediately. Or drink order were taken upon being seated as well as starters which came out promptly. Our silverware was changed out after each use. Our server was very friendly and had great recommendations! Knew the menu forward and backward and was quick. Ambiance: the place is somewhat casual but with a funky flare. It has a cool chill vibe, great for groups and not too nosy. Parking is right outside restaurant which is convenient.

Checked out this place recently with a few friends and it was amazing! As a vegetarian, I enjoy checking out different vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants. There are so many options at this restaurant. Love the fresh ingredients. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich that is made with soy protein and marinated in a pepper vinegar base. The sandwich was better than I expected!! I am a saucy person and I was shocked that the sandwich had so much flavor without a bbq sauce. It exceeded my expectations. I also tried a bit of the peanut noodle bowl and that was very tasty too. The prices are affordable and parking is easy accessible. The staff are so friendly and attentive. Look forward to visiting this place again soon!

The service is excellent! The server was so nice, made small talk, and was attentive. It seemed like the workers here actually enjoyed working here. The food was remarkable and creative. I had the BBQ platter but with fried chicken, which was delicious. My husband got the fries which were perfectly done and not overly salty. The restaurant will move in 4-5 weeks to another location in the same complex. I definitely will return! The only barrier is that their hours are a bit restricted.

We had a fantastic family dinner here. The BBQ pulled pork was a amazing! Even those who've had real BBQ raved about it being close to real thing. The desserts were equally impressive - the tres leches and egg nog cheesecake were pure indulgence. Can't wait to return soon!

Lunch with Mom at @elementgastropub Downtown Raleigh, NC…read more My mom supporting me, means everything to me!!! We ordered the Sweet Chili Sauce wings with house ranch for our appetizer! Mom loved those! I ordered the Carolina BBQ Sandwich which was smoked vegan BBQ tossed in hybrid eastern- Western style sauce (whatever that means lol), creamy coleslaw on a Brioche bun with a side Kale Caesar Salad. Mom ordered the Philly Cheese steak which was chopped seitan "steak", marinated mushrooms, house made cheese, peppers, onions served on a soft hoagie roll. It also came with my favorite chips by Caroline Kettle chips @carolinakettle! So, glad they support local! Mom didn't really care for the cheese steak. I tried it as well & it wasn't my favorite. But, we had an amazing time for lunch on this beautiful day! oh, & I also had a Carolina Mule! Which was I want to try their brunch the next time I go back home to visit! #VeganLunch #LunchWithMom #Element #Gastropub #RaleighNC

"Vegan faux meat dishes near the Raleigh Convention Center"…read more Stopped here on the Saturday of GalaxyCon in July at 5pm. There are a lot of outdoor tables with umbrellas, but we opted for the interior. The interior was a bit dark but still comfortable, especially near the windows. We got to pick our table and were given menus promptly. I went for the faux Philly cheesesteak and a side salad with Bleu cheese. My girlfriend got the western nodeo burger and a side salad with ranch. Service was good- there was a little confusion about our order and what table we were at, but they were apologetic about it. And we still got our food within 20 minutes and regularly were offered drink refills. My food was fine. The vegan Bleu cheese dressing was quite runny and tasted ok but not nearly as good as the real thing. Honestly, I felt the same about the cheesesteak. The faux meat was oddly rubbery, and the cheese was just ok. It also wasn't very large. In contrast, my girlfriend's dishes were excellent- the ranch dressing was epic and the burger was super tasty. Warning- it was hot, especially the jalapeños. But delicious. If I went back, I'd get her order for sure. Price was pretty good especially for the burger- most entrees were in the $15-20 range, but did not come with sides. Overall, a good vegan option near the convention center and Marriott hotel.

We came in with some friends on a Monday to celebrate a birthday. My friend has a gluten and dairy allergy, which was actually no problem here. So if that is a dietary concern for you or a loved one - this is a great spot to bring them! We were all able to enjoy a majority of the food. My partner and I both enjoyed a mocktail version of the roselle freezy - it was amazing! Either as a mocktail or a cocktail, you should try this drink. For starters, we had the crispy chicken wings, spring rolls with veggies, and the lettuce wraps. We all enjoyed the chicken wings so much that we got a second order of them. I enjoyed the spring rolls much more than the lettuce wraps as they had more flavor to them. For dinner, we shared an order of the Manda Amphone's Curry and the chicken pad thai. I originally did not expect to be blown away by the pad thai - boy, was I wrong. This is hands down the best pad thai I have ever had. If you love pad thai, you need to try theirs. I also thoroughly enjoyed the curry. Both dishes were rich and flavorful and came with enough to share between 4 adults. Overall, not having been to Bida Manda in 10+ years, I was impressed and will definitely return.

What I appreciated the most was that everything was reminiscent of their original dishes, but with innovative and delicious twists- fusion perfection. We got the: - Four Cheese Truffle Kulcha (sharp cheddar, brie, asiago, chilli, black truffle dust, truffle butter, shishito pepper): Love a good bread moment- this one was cheesy, savory, and buttery; appreciated the contrast from the shishito. Added the roasted garlic and chilli dip upon the servor's rec for an extra cost; it was good, but not necessary- I'd probably skip this next time. - Chaat Mate (purple sweet potato & crunchy kale chaat, crispy okra & tuk aloo chat): Loved this! Such cool takes on chaat, which happens to be one of my favorite Indian dishes. Really appreciated all the elements, such good diversity of flavors and textures- crispy, sweet, tangy, earthy. - Nadru Malai Kofta (lotus stem dumplings, nut based sauce, plain butter naan or steam rice): First off, such a pretty dish! The gravy was rich and creamy; the dumplings were so interesting (strong spice essence). - Nigellaseeds Chilly Olive Naan: Got this because I thought the ingredients for this naan sounded unique- it was decent naan, but nothing mind blowing, would probably skip next time. - North Meets South (elaneer payasam, ghewar, rose, hibiscus, coconut jelly, young coconut): Maybe my favorite part of the whole meal! Loved every aspect of this dessert, which seemed so separate but all came together beautifully. Not too sweet, which was great too. I've never had anything like this before. Service was great. We mentioned to our server that we were rushing to catch a show in an hour, and he was so amenable! Ambiance is really nice, definitely one of the prettiest restaurants around. There's free valet parking in the adjacent deck. 10/10 would recommend!

I'd recommend parking a few blocks away and walking if you are unable to find parking nearby. Walking into the restaurant you'll be transported to a modern brewery, bookstore, and flower shop. By far the Black Sesame Old Fashioned was my favorite and what a nice touch with cracker on top of the dish. For food we ordered the Gai Lan (Stir-fried Chinese broccoli with garlic and oyster sauce), the Peking Duck (Whole, barbecued, free-range duck served with steamed bao buns, cucumber, scallions, and hoisin-honey sauce), Sweet Soy Chicken (Scallions, bell peppers, and caramelized in our ginger soy sauce.
