What an amazing place this is...
We got here around 1pm on a Sunday, as part of a private party of about 40 people. Since it was cold outside, they prepared the inside room for us. They arranged the tables in a way we could all walk around, talk, and share the plates coming out of the kitchen, family style.
They stated with a glass of prosecco for everyone and some snacks, while we all got settled in our seats.
Right after everyone was seated, they brought both still and sparkling water, and bottles of red and white wine, the red a Chianti and the white from a local vineyard in San Gimignano.
Bread baskets with assorted styles of bread, including a delicious focaccia, were brought and replenished constantly to pair with every dish they brought out.
Cheese platted, charcuterie, tomato bruschetta, olive bruschetta, and pate bruschetta, were some of the starting plates. The olive one was a pleasant surprise for everyone. We all could not stop talking how good these were and thankfully they brought out enough of everything for all to enjoy and even repeat.
Second dishes came out - all homemade pasta dishes.
We had a wild boar ragu one, that was amazing but, my favorite, was the Truffle Gnocchi. Creamy, comforting, cooked to perfection and fresh truffle that just made you want to keep eating more even when you feel full. It's addictive!!
By this point we're all thinking "what a great meal we had!" but they come out with more...
Tuscan, Parmesan Steak, and potatoes. Honestly, I was so full that I was only able to taste a thin slice of the steak and for a second I wished I hadn't eaten that last serving of Gnocchi... Steak was amazing! But, no regrets! Still the Gnocchi remains my favorite dish of the day.
I heard people liking the chicken a lot too, saying how tender it was. So, basically everything we had was delightful.
Now, hold on, after all that you think there wasn't going to be dessert?!? Of course there was. Homemade tiramisu. They make it almost like a mousse, airy, light, and not too sweet. Loved it!
On top of all these delectable dishes, services was outstanding. They were welcoming, friendly, and on top of everything every table needed.
As if this wasn't enough, the place is charming, almost like a little brick cave, with all sorts of décor and things to buy, including wine and paste, of course. But my absolute favorite thing about their location is the view. If you go on a nice weather day, definitely try to sit outside... this view is like a painting you will not get tired of. Lovely, relaxing, and even romantic. Also, just steps away there's a piazza with shops, more views and a nice place to walk and enjoy this city.
San Gimignano, and Sosta sulla Francigena, were unquestionably a highlight of my Italy trip. read more
