However, instead of working toward an agreement, he was dismissive, unwilling to resolve the situation, and ultimately disrespectful. I'm actually glad we experienced this side of him now--because we would never want to expose our kids to someone who acts this way. If you run a business, respect should be at the foundation. Being bossy or disrespectful is not how you treat customers, and it's certainly not how you run a business.

I came for the fitness and to learn some self defense and it's become the best part of my day. I didn't expect to gain friendships and become part of the "Ohana" but that's what happened. This school is more than learning the moves and gaining some skills, Instructor Jason truly incorporates the martial arts lifestyle into his teaching and it is a community. We learn Kajukenbo, which is a mixed martial art from Hawaii, that encompasses Karate, Judo, Jujitsu, Kenbo & Boxing. We learn katas/forms, self defense, sparring, and have lot of fun doing it. The attention to safe training is always priority for Chris. After a time I was even able to return to training BJJ. The level of teaching is high. the head coach (Chris) is very experienced, as are assistant coaches who are active fighter. They regularly bring in world class veteran Thai fighters for seminars. The gym is very welcoming to newcomers and all types of people. It is always clean and the mats are disinfected multiply times a day and always before BJJ class which I appreciate. Overall I think this gym is great place to learn and train Muay Thai and BJJ for self defense and enjoyment. The journey has not lacked complaining, but generally, they come out of class drenched in sweat, but with smiles on their faces. I think they are healthier and stronger from the consistent exercise. They're also more confident. Sifu James is a wonderful instructor that teaches with positive energy. His teaching style is a good blend of discipline and compassion. Solis Martial Arts is trying not only to produce good martial artists, but also good members of the community. Ms. Carla is the owner but also teaches some of the classes. She's very friendly and has been more than fair to us over the years. Our kids' classes have the option of going up to 4 times a week.
