Chris and soul fusion were kind enough to provide my place of employment some free plates. The food was absolutely delicious and truly hit the soul. The brisket had a perfect smoky flavor that paired wonderfully with the egg. The rice was cooked to perfection--not too hard or too soft. The gravy on top tied everything together beautifully. I'll be looking forward to ordering next time. THANK YOU

We finally had a chance to try the bright green truck which is southern food with kimchi and a loco moco. Of the 6 items on their menu, we chose the Lil Bear simply because the sides sounded the best. The mac & cheese was soft and gooey penne pasta and the collard greens were mildly bitter and studded with flakes of smoked turkey. For the mains, instead of a whole fillet, the catfish was cut in chunks, heavily coated in a hard, cornmeal crust. The fish was begging for a dipping sauce so consider bringing your own lemon and tartar. The wings have two flavors, a lemon pepper and a bbq sauce. These wings are small and heavily coated in seasoning making them salty. At the busy night market, the wait was over 25 minutes to get our food, so be prepared to wait if there are orders in front of you, then find a place to eat your plate.

My coworker surprised me with a delicious meal from Soul fusion- the food blends traditional Southern dishes with global flavors, creating unique and flavorful combinations like Brisket Loco Moco with Rice and Gumbo gravy. It might be a little over burnt, but It was really delicious. I will come back and try their other dish.

Lil Bear $22 - Mac and cheese, collar greens with smoked turkey, wings and catfish.

Why doesnt Yelp allow half stars? If they did this would be 3.5. We went to the Night Market at Pearl Ridge Mall tonight and after strolling around we settled on this food truck. I was hesitant at first because there were no prices on the menu and that's a pet peeve of mine. At any rate I ordered the Lil Bear which consisted of catfish, wings, Mac and cheese and collard greens with smoked turkey. I found out after ordering that it is $22 and since I already ordered I went with it. There were a lot of people so the wait was about 15 minutes. I saw only two people in the truck and both were hustling. I was a little annoyed it was taking so long but it's to be expected at these kinds of events. At any rate we finally got our food and found a place to sit. I opened the box and was pleasantly surprised at how much food we had. It was definitely worth the $22. So for the food...the Mac and cheese is penne pasta and it was soft, cheesy and creamy. The collard greens were soft and the smoked turkey meat added a nice smokey flavor. The catfish was actually nuggets and they were nice and crispy but my boyfriend thought it tasted old. The meal came with 6 wings! The BBQ sauce was too sweet for my liking and the wings without the sauce were super salty. They were cooked well though and we ate them all. My only real complaint about the food was that everything was super salty. Food was a 3.5 but I rounded up to 4 because the guy taking the orders was super personable and appeared to enjoy his job. The man cooking was working hard and also had good customer service.

We ate soul fusion at the hnl night market. I felt bad for them because they seemed so understaffed, and a lot of hangry diners were waiting a loooooong time for their food. I had the baby bowl with Mac n cheese with shredded pork. It was solid! I just wish the Mac n cheese used elbow macaroni and not penne. I also loved the fusion of soul food and korean cuisine. I believe it's owned by a veteran who I imagine did a tour in Korea to inspire this concept.

Apparently this Soul Fusion gets around the island lucky for us all. This review is for the Kaimuki Kaukau Stop & Shop event by Island craft fairs and Events at Ali'iolani Elementary this past Friday October 15th 5-9pm. First of all the best organized event that's the most easily accessible with parking provided to take advantage of these awesome local businesses I've never heard or seen before. Soul Fusion menu has the comfort foods that I've been craving and had to give this a try, Chicken Wings Basket comes with eight wings and choice of sauces which you can do two types and I went with Lemon Pepper and Pineapple BBQ only because I was planning to share with someone who can't do spicy. Lemon Pepper is exactly that it was a nice lemony peppery seasoning and not shockingly wowed me but the pineapple bbq was it. A nice sticky not too sweet coating on a chunky meaty wings that we both enjoyed and thinking I was getting a basket of wings I didn't expect waffle cut fries o_O* wuh!? What a generous amount of fries I was super excited and to be honest probably more so than the wings lol! Though my only one problem is that it was too heavily seasoned. My wings was already coated in seasoning/sauces the fries made it too much and wished it was plain or lightly salted after a few bites my palate really needed saving. In all I'm so delight to have tried it and can't wait to come across it again, keep update by following them on Instagram @soulfusionhi and look for that bright green truck. Thank you!!

I always see this truck at events. I eventually decided to give them a try when they were in kaimuki at the elementary school. Everyone seemed to rave about the gumbo so I gave it a try. It was $16 for a bowl with 3-4 scoops of rice?! It was a lot. I felt like it was more rice than anything else. It also had a strange burnt taste. Service was really friendly tho but not enough to give it another try.

Never eat at SoulFusion. It's that green food truck. Tonight we went to the new food and product show at NBC and always wanted to try their Gumbo. We took it home and it's completely INEDIBLE...it taste like somebody poured a whole salt shaker inside of my bowl and it's super burnt. Can't you taste and smell your own food? The minute you open the lid you can smell that it's completely burnt. We took one bite and we had to throw it all away and we never throw away food!!! Unbelievable that they're serving this and it cost us $16.

Overall impressed with the owner's passion for his food. Taste wise it was a bit smokey for my taste, but that's why barbecue is not my favorite style of cuisine, I'm mainly in it for the sides. I got the big bear and little bear plates to try a bit of everything. Big bear is brisket (not my fave cuz of the fat but family loves brisket), pulled pork (very smoke tasting, but on the sweet side with the sauce which I liked), potato salad (a bit vinegary for my taste), kimchi, and rice. Little bear is chicken wings (pineapple bbq sauce was nice and sweet, I don't like the bones so I just tried the sauce and everyone else eats the wings, and cajun rub had a bit of kick which I like), catfish (I love a good corn meal rub on catfish and this was pretty good), mac and cheese (penne noodles, not super cheesy, very smoke tasting, left me wanting more cheese flavor), and collard greens with turkey (ok, not super flavorful but family loves collards so it was a no brainer). Overall decent, a bit pricey but I like to support small businesses and still want to try other things like the gumbo.

My husband texted me fr the Navy Exchange to see if I wanted Soul Fusion over by the garden center. I loved the fried fish!! Fried just how I like it. Next Time I am making homemade tartar sauce to go with it & a lil bit lemon.

We didn't know what we wanted for dinner the other night and then I remembered Soul Fusion was parked across from St. John's in Maili. We ordered the little bear, big bear, and a bowl of gumbo. Wow! The flavors just danced on my taste buds The flavor of the gumbo was the kinda flavor you know cooked all day to have the ingredients merry like they did. The assortment between the big bear and little bear hit every craving we could've possible had that night. Not only was the food good but it didn't take that long and also the guy working there was super nice. He talked story with us for a while and even brought his little baby out which was so cute! Soul Fusion- good food and good vibes, definitely soul food.

If you've never had catfish before, I recommend trying them now. Go to Soul Fusion and try their catfish basket, NOW. When frying fish, it tends to get dry if cooked wrong. But these? These do not disappoint. The fried catfish is coated with spices and it is so juicy. they are a little pricey for the amount that you get, but they don't skimp at all.

I grew up in the Deep South as a military dependent, though my family has been in Hawaii five generations. As a lifelong fan of southern cooking/soul food I was delighted to come across the Soul Fusion food truck parked conveniently at the gas station on Kalakaua. The purveyors were friendlyand COVID safe with a diverse menu including gumbo, catfish (also in a Po'boy sandwich), wings, pulled pork, collard greens, etc. Twists include kimchee, a kiawe pulled pork burrito, etc. The gumbo was authentic - a touch saltier than my current tastes, but well seasoned otherwise, and the prices moderate for a food truck. Aside from a small soul food restaurant in Aiea, soul food is hard to find in these islands. Their collard greens were the stuff of memories and I can't wait to try their catfish. See my photos and follow them on Instagram. Aloha y'all!

It was ~$30 and easily shareable with 2-3 people. Everything tasted great and I loved the smokey flavor and bbq sauce. Beef brisket and short rib were kinda tough and chewy. It came with three sides so I got cole slaw, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. Cole slaw and Mac and cheese were solid; Potato salad was just alright. They also gave one warm bun too. The reason I gave 3 stars was because service was extremely slow. It seemed like they were short staff and had one person at the cash register AND getting the food. He would take a few orders, and then grab the food. When I arrived, he was grabbing food for multiple folks so then I stood there waiting like 15 just to place my order. Then when he restarted and took my order, he took like 5 more orders before grabbing the food so then I waited even longer for another 15 min. That's 30 min of waiting! Also he wasn't serving food in the order that orders were received so it felt actually felt even longer. There needs to be a better system! Surprisingly he did a employee discount on my order. Not sure if it's because it was close to closing time. Btw they charge extra if you order to-go because of the supplies for packaging. I think food is alright but wouldn't return and wait that long for bbq.

However, after having to abandon our original dinner plans, we were no less intrigued after randomly stumbling across this place. While they may not have been our first choice for dinner, coming here was far more appealing than eating fast food or at the nearby IHOP! Although seeing so many folks at this mini food truck park may have been what caught our attention, it was the boxes of fried chicken on nearly every table that swayed us to try Waikiki Chicken in Paradise in particular. After skimming the menu, it wasn't hard to see why they were such a popular choice - everything on it sounded great. Granted, that's not overly difficult when there are only eight items to choose from, but tough to argue with the likes of fried chicken loco moco, fried chicken curry rice, fried chicken sandwiches, chicken & croffle, and fish & chips! Since we saw how big the portion were and didn't want anything too heavy (read: sadly, no loco moco or Japanese curry), we opted to split a FRIED CHICKEN RICE PLATE ($16.95) which came with a Fried Chicken Cutlet over White Rice with Mac Salad & Green Salad. Funny enough, despite already having a sense of how much food they give, I was still surprised by the generous portion size. As for how it all tasted, this was great. The breading on the chicken reminded me of Popeye's (though, without the spice), the batter was crispy, and the chicken itself was rather moist. As for the sides, the mac salad was pretty good, but the salad was a little heavy on dressing. If there was one thing I could change about our order, I think I'd want to see how it would taste with a sauce or glaze. At the very least, I'd definitely go with a different dipping sauce, like their Pineapple Ginger, Lilikoi Mayo, or Guava BBQ, as the Honey Mustard we went with tasted a bit generic. Of course, we could've solved both problems if we had gone with the Fried Chicken Loco Moco or Fried Chicken Curry Rice instead! I guess I'll just have to wait until the next time I'm in Waikiki!
