This food truck came to our building last week. Once again, we had the chance to order our food in advance and again, we decided to not do that. Our concern is that something may come up and we'll miss getting the food we paid for. Well... We went when they opened for business. There was only one person working in the truck. He took our order and said it would be ready in 10 minutes. Meanwhile, some people who did order online came to pick up their food...no problem. We ordered 1 Island burger which, according to the menu, had cheese, a pineapple slice and pineapple mango blaze sauce. For the side dish, I chose plantains. Also, we got 1 Classic American cheeseburger which the menu said came with your choice of toppings. My husband chose fries for his side. We got upstairs and noticed that instead of plantains, fries were given. Sigh... I went back downstairs and told the man that he didn't give me my plantains. He corrected that mistake and apologized. As for the food --- For me, the plantains were the best item. Even though a few were overcooked, they still retained their softness in the middle and the sweet taste that comes from sauteeing them. The Island burger underdelivered when it came to ingredients. There was no pineapple slice. The pineapple-mango blaze merely consisted of some small diced piece of mango. Plus, there was some shredded lettuce and red onions. The Classic American cheeseburger ended up with lettuce and onions on it. The fries were okay. Both of us agreed that the burger patties were overcooked and dried out. So...a decent enough meal but nothing to write home about it. This truck attracted more attention than others that came to our building. With only one person working on the truck, I can imagine he got overwhelmed as the evening progressed. Food was good, but should have stuck to my original choice when looking at the menu. I was originally thinking a jerk chicken sandwich or jerk chicken salad and then came across the burgers. Saw the Jerky Q Burger and really felt like beef for lunch today. Ordered an extra patty for another dollar as I wanted extra meat. Ordered with lettuce, tomato, Colby jack cheese and fries. Added an extra tip on because of the times we are in. Waited for my food to be ready and took it home. Upon arriving home, found that it was missing the extra patty that I ordered and paid extra for and the burger had to have been a frozen patty as it had pieces of gristle in it, which I wasn't expecting at all! The burger itself with the jerk sauce was good and had a nice kick to it. The fries were good, unsalted which is what I prefer! Overall it was an okay meal, but certainly not quite what I was expecting. I will give them another try but will probably try the jerk chicken salad and see if that is a better option for me. I would give them a try, but if you are visiting and ordering in person as I did, ask for a recommendation. You still have to order and pay online even if you show up in person. Also note, they don't currently have smoothies even though they are on the menu. They are waiting for the weather to turn warmer and steadily getting into spring and summer before doing so. Really they don't even deserve one star. First off we got the completely wrong order. There were other people at the truck too with the wrong orders as well. Yes I understand it's your first time there but prep for it better and you been to other places because your a food truck. You should be more prepared. They also ran out of food as well. We finally got the food an hour later and it was far from Caribbean food from someone who used to travel there a lot. No flavors it was burnt jerk chicken. The rice was bland and they threw some kidney bean in with it. The wings were sad and pitiful lack of spice and flavor only 4 wings and some plantains. The plantains were not that great either but better than the other stuff. The pricing was ridiculous for a food truck. Very over priced and the sad part was it wasn't even good. I am really sad to give this place a low rating because I was very much in the mood for jerk wings. But I could not eat any of the food. Aside from taking more than an hour to make it, and getting the order wrong, the food I ordered was inedible. I got 2 orders of Jerk wings that had LITERALLY no seasoning. None. Not even salt. I think they actually forgot which wings they put on the grill and gave me plain ones in both orders. Also, all the food that required any grilling (wings, burgers, etc.) was charred so black it was nearly all charcoal. They even burnt the bun. Jerk normally has some nice dark colors and a bit of char but this wasn't seasoning (there was none). It was excessive... and flavorless. This place may be new but if their idea of jerk wings is unsalted, unseasoned chicken; and their idea of burgers are essentially hockey pucks on blacked buns; then this place has a super long road ahead of them. I didn't eat the desserts, but the coconut rum cheesecake was apparently great. Since I did not sample that, I'm not including it in my personal review rating, but I felt it was worth noting. I got the jerk salmon and it was THE BEST jerk salmon I have ever had. It was so flavourful and came with rice and a side of my choice - I went with plantains. I got the lunch portion and even that was such a generous amount. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I'm so glad to have a taste of home in the nova area. read more

The online order process was really easy. The menu is large for a food truck. The jerk chicken was tender and juicy, and its skin was nice and crispy. The chicken patty really stood out for not being the ordinary heat and serve version served at Caribbean restaurants. It had robust flavors, chunky chicken and a flaky shell. Update: I tried Soul Rebel a few ago at the @Rocket Frog Brewing Company. They did an excellent job of redeeming themselves after my first experience. The food was good and they provided exceptional service. I suggest giving them a try and seeing for yourself how good the food is, they have a wide variety of choices on their menu. read more

Burger and fries were better than food trucks that specialize in burgers and fries! There was a bit a wait but the food was good, and they were responsive and generous about the wait and replacing things they ran out of. The jerk and cilantro lime chickens were good, the rice & peas and smoky cabbage in particular were very tasty. read more

I ordered oxtails with a side order of fried cabbage. After receiving my order I was told they ran low on oxtails so they gave me what was left and finished my order off with chicken. Sadly, there wasn't a single oxtail, only a few specks of oxtail meat but more shards of the bones than meat. My meal was 80% rice and the cabbage was not included. Happened by the truck when they were parked in Arlington and ordered on a whim. The oxtail was fabulous, richly spiced and perfectly tender. Rice and beans were flavorful and the plantains on the side were A+. Delicious meal! read more
