I bought Soul Vegan's Mac & Cheese at Whole Foods since a family member loves it and OMG! This is absolutely delicious vegan Mac & Cheese!!! It had just the right amount of vegan cheese, wonderful texture, perfectly seasoned and loved the breadcrumb topping. It almost reminds me of a quiche consistency which is great! One thing about the packaging, not sure if I missed something but there were no instructions on how to warm the container. I'm not quite there yet with going vegan 100% but this product surely has me giving up dairy. This will be my new go to Mac & Cheese dish because I will not attempt to try to make it. read more

I have not been to their South Side location, but I've tried three of their packaged meals at Whole Foods: the Kale Greens Salad, the Lasagna with Greens & Roast (seitan in bbq sauce), and the Mac & Cheese with Greens & BBQ Tofu. OMG. I am not a vegan, but I love their food! Everything is just seasoned perfectly. The homemade BBQ sauce is tangy and delicious, the collard greens are super tasty, the pasta dishes are better than some non-vegetarian ones I've had. Now, you're gonna be able to tell from the taste that certain things are made with soy cheese or nutritional yeast instead of dairy-- no vegan item can completely replicate the taste and texture of dairy cheese. I've tried so many times to like lasagna but I just couldn't. I tried once again, but this time eating Soul Vegan's lasagna. Oh Lord! I like lasagna now, but only Soul Vegan's! The next time I thought I'd try something different of theirs and got the Mac and Cheese with Greens and BBQ Tofu. I didn't think anything to beat the lasagna but I think the Mac and Cheese did just that! It was sooooo delicious! I hope they start selling big single packs of the greens (at least I have never seen any single packs of just the greens at Whole Foods on the northside). The greens were so good too! I get the Soul Vegan lunches where they are sold around locations in Hyde Park (Treasure Island, Open Produce, UChicago campus). Their meals are extremely tasty and filling, so you will enjoy whether you are vegan or not. My favorite it the BBQ tofu, greens, and mac and cheese. Then mac and cheese is AMAZING. I saw these packaged deli foods for the first time the other day in the cooler in the new Fruitful Yield health food store on La Grange road in La Grange, IL. I was on my way back home to Detroit from my once a year trip to La Grange. I bought the following foods: Apple Pie - the best I ever had - anywhere - bar none, Sweet Potato Pie - the best I ever had - anywhere - bar none, Lasagna - the best I ever had - anywhere - bar none, Unreal 'Chicken' Salad - the best I ever had - anywhere - bar none, BBQ Delights - the best I ever had - anywhere - bar none, Macaroni & Cheese - the best I ever had - anywhere - bar none, Kale Green Salad - Good, but I've had better. I haven't been able to eat at the restaurant but I have been eating the refrigerated meals for lent. With that being said it is crazy yummy. I was completely duped by the mac n cheese. What I liked the most about it was that none of the flavor was lost but none of the cholesterol was there either!!! I repeat NO CHOLESTEROL.
