Latte was handed to me quickly at the counter and my food was brought to me within 2 mins of sitting down. The latte was quite sweet, I didn't taste much of the espresso, which isn't my preference. I really am kind of biased though as a former barista myself, ;) However, I know next time to remember to ask for less syrup, if I order again. The b's & g's are very fresh -- the biscuits were warm and tender; the gravy is more of a brown gravy and not your classic white gravy. It was thick, with chunks of sausage, flavorful, with herbs on top. It was not that salty which I noticed right away as I am very particular about that. I appreciated that a lot! I don't think I would order these again, solely based on liking white country gravy better. But very flavorful and for someone else, worth a try! And they were served in a Togo container which is cool, in case I wanted to take it with me. The cafe itself is immaculately clean & that included the beautifully wallpapered bathroom. The tables are all clean and they all have pretty little real mums in cups, I love that simple touch - so cozy. One walls is covered with photography pieces for sale and as I photographer, I love to see the support for us and our work! Definitely super cool. As a NYC native, this cafe felt more urban-esque, while sitting in downtown small town Belleville and really such an, "at home" type vibe -- really though, shout out to the barista who really stands out in treating you like family. They live up to their sign, inside, "Welcome to the family." That's valuable! Overall, I'm super impressed with the service and I'll definitely come back to try another drink and more food. Charlie's is located within historic downtown Belleville on the corner of Abend. There is only street side parking available. Keep in mind they do have breakfast or brunch too on weekends.

I grabbed a seat inside and was promptly greeted with a smile and given a menu by the friendly waitress. They had several options that sounded enticing. I inquired about the bacon they used on their BLT but the waitress wasn't sure except that it was a standard thin cut bacon and she thought it was tasty. Preferring thick cut bacon, I finally decided to go with the reuben sandwich with a side of crinkle potato chips. The sandwich was served to me impressively fast, less than 10 minutes and, to my surprise, the waitress offered me a sample strip of their bacon. It was surprisingly good so I may have to go with a BLT next time. Anyway, the reuben was the star of my lunch, served traditionally on perfectly grilled marbled rye bread. The sandwich was delicious, not a large amount of corned beef but enough to be well balanced with the other components of the sandwich. The corned beef itself was sliced sandwich thin, a bit chewy but otherwise delicious. I really enjoyed the sandwich. The potato chips were standard fare but tasted fresh.The highlights of the visit were the friendly staff, fast service, fairly reasonable prices and the free sample of bacon was icing on the cake. I'll return soon with my wife who is sure to order their BLT. I'll probably give their Philly cheese or french dip a try.

My server was great, she talked highly of the place and with passion when I mentioned it was my first visit.
