Five stars as usual for soulcycle! Went here when I was staying downtown and thrilled to know a soulcycle was around the corner! The location is clean and fresh, the staff was happy to help set up bikes or give you info as to the layout of the bathroom/ lockers etc since it was my first time at the location. The class was GREAT! As always! Well paced, good music, challenging, and lots of good vibes and sound bites from the instructor. Don't buy your water here, they only have the box carton water and that does not fit on the water holder on the bikes so that's awkward. There is an elevator to get to the studio, but opt for the couple of flights of stairs for a head start to class. Most of the lockers are in the hallway towards the studio once you're past the front desk, but they have a full shower/locker room before that if you need. I wish this studio had earlier class times, especially for the financial district where it's likely those taking this class are at work around 8, having an earlier class available would make a pre-work workout much more possible for those of us who need at least 20 - 30mins to get showered and ready before an 8am meeting! read more

made purchases fr soul cycle shop online over a week ago and the site still says preparing for shipping, I paid for shipping so I expected it delivered within a few days, I called the SoHo NYC location and they gave me the soul cycle shop's new email (which is not the same that's on the soul cycle site) which I emailed 4 days ago and still no reply. I think for now some of the studios are open but online they're maybe mistakenly taking payments and orders but not delivering on them. I def don't recommend purchasing anything fr soul cycle now online because they're back offices are either non existent or don't know where and what they're supposed to still be doing. read more

Absolutely loved, JIMMY!!!!! First off, the music choice is perfect!!!!!! You had me pushing myself after a 6 month break, and I was really proud of myself. Your energy towards the class was amazing and so much fun. It's definitely not my first class soul cycle class, but this location was really dope located on the 2nd floor more than enough lockers and rooms to change and the bathroom. Not to mention HELLO, they have a charging port in your locker, which has an automatic lock for you. The shoes and water are available for sale also. read more

This location was my first time spinning at SoulCycle and it was quite different from other spin studios I've been too. When you enter their front door you make your way up the stairs and down a hallway, where you'll check in with the front desk girls and fill out some forms. Then you can make your way down a long hallway where there are lockers to place your stuff. Just a tip, put your cell phone in the locker unless you want them to take it away from you and give it back after class. How booking a class works if it's your first time. Download the SoulCycle app or goto their website. Pick a location, pick a single ride, pay, then pick your bike. Then show up 15mins before class so you can sign the wavier form and get your bike set up. Their spin room is large enough with plenty of bikes. It was a little hard to hear the instructor over the music, maybe due to her headset wasn't loud enough. The class was good and I did work up a sweat but I didn't feel the passion and energy I was looking for. Everyone raves about SoulCycle and I was a little disappointed that I didn't get that full on experience everyone talks about. I did get it at another Soul location, were I loved the instructor and his energy. I definitely will be back here though, just to try someone else out. Very convenient location in FiDi. I always prefer SoulCycle over Flywheel because it's more fun/intense and you get more core and upper body workout. I've taken spin classes at various gyms before, so I was quite skeptical about how different SoulCycle would be and whether it's worth the hefty price. Thanks to the new member promo, I was able to get one free class along with a free shoe rental (call front desk directly to ask about it!), so I decided it was finally time for me to cross this off my to-do list. The biggest difference I found between SoulCycle and spinning classes at a regular gym is the bike itself. The SoulCycle bikes are clearly of the highest quality. They allow you to do a ton of push-ups, squats, crunches and other things without feeling like you're about to fall off or somehow break the machine. Another thing that stood out is that most of the class is spent off the saddle. There wasn't a focus on how many miles we've cycled or what level our heart rates have reached. The instructors just guided us to cycle at the beat of the songs (the playlist is amazing!) using super motivating talks and playing around with the lights. He gave us a few suggestions on increasing the resistance and even came around once to turn up our resistances himself during one of the longer endurance stretches. But for the most part, instructions on how much to turn up the resistance was liberally used, so the challenge was very self-driven, just make sure you keep up to the beat of the music! As for the space itself, I love the new, sleek, clean feeling! There are a good number of showers with all the basic amenities and a ton of lockers. The location is perfect for us who work in FiDi and want to take a class right before pampering up for work. Normally I don't love spinning because I find it to be too tedious after a while but SoulCycle's upbeat and positive environment definitely has me considering coming back. read more

After trying SC, I totally see why a lot of people are so loyal to it. The fact that this particular studio is brand new adds to the excitement for me, too. Your first time is very inviting. You get a crash course about the workout, bikes, shoes, a tour of the studio etc. and a staff member stays with you to tweak your bike and get you ready to start. The classes are awesome. For those who think this is everyday cycling, it's not! Stretches, easy choreography (right/left, stand/sit), and hand weights make it so much more. My first time soulcycling. I'm so glad it was at this location! From booking the first class to the class itself and the facilities (which are super new), everything was top notch. There are lockers, water, showers-basically everything you need. Perfect for a morning workout right before work, which is a 2 minute walk away. I also really liked that the studio itself was dark. Definitely added a sense of rigor and kind of gave you some personal space while simultaneously allowing you to feel motivated by others around you. I've been to this location a few times because I love the instructor Jaidus. His classes are great and really motivational. But the front desk is often not the friendliest. Last week I was treated like I was an annoyance when I asked which bike I booked again. Today, I had to late cancel because of inclement whether. The studio doesn't open until 9 am which didn't leave me any time to actually try to make it (I live about 45 minutes away and it was a 9:30 class). When I called to have the late cancellation waived because it would have been too dangerous for me to get there I was told that "the whether had been forecast all week and the studio will not waive the late cancellation as is their policy". I understand why there is a policy in place but under these circumstances it seemed extreme. read more

A friend took me to my first SoulCycle class ever at this location. I had no idea what to expect. I had been to less than a handful of spin classes ever in my life. But I have to say I totally love this! It wasn't just some cardio class but something that speaks to your soul. It's hard to explain how they do it. I took my first spin class here at SoulCycle with String on a Friday evening (free during their promotional period). He was a great instructor and blasted some good top40 beats. I HIGHLY recommend that you come here early for your first class. I wish I did. It took me much longer to get there from uptown. I felt like I was interrupting a wedding ceremony when they called for anyone in their 6:30pm class before they released the reservations to the waitlist (crazy how SoulCycle has waitlists). The girl at the front desk seemed irritated and almost threw the clipboard with the waiver form at me. Thankfully, a different girl helped set up the bike after I changed. She was sweet. Class was already in session so I could barely see or hear anything. She had an infrared flashlight to adjust the stationary bike so that my seat was up to my hips and one forearm away from the handles. Then she swiveled and clicked the shoes (first class free rental, otherwise $3) onto the pedals. Towels and two 2-lb weights are already at the bike. The room was fairly dark and extremely loud with String calling out spin moves and new resistance levels along with the music. I loved it. The beats distracted me and I couldn't even tell that I was working out. (I woke up sore the next day!) At the end of the first class, String called up any newbies to provide us with some tips for our next class. Some of these newbies were big muscular guys and they were drenched with sweat! Don't laugh but I'm still not sure where people change. The lockers (coed, free to use, equipped with a lock) are out in the hallway leading to the spin room. I changed in a private bathroom near the lockers. I didn't see any lockers or changing rooms in the women's shower area but there has to be one, right?? I wish I could afford these classes ($34 for 45min yikes)! They're fun, a great sweaty workout, and they have multiple locations throughout Manhattan. read more

What a workout. I'm not the fittest person in FiDi but I consider myself reasonably in shape, and I definitely felt completely annihilated after attending my last Soul class yesterday. That being said, it also felt extremely rewarding afterwards. I haven't done many other cycling classes so it's difficult to compare, but SoulCycle is definitely one of a kind and you'll surely be pushed to work your hardest. Considering the class itself and the convenient location, I would otherwise become a frequent member, except I just can't justify the prices they charge. Not that I can't afford it, I just think it's way overvalued, if I may put my equity research analyst hat on. The product is good when considered alone but not worth it when the price's taken into account, considering the alternatives/similar products elsewhere, so it's a poor buy. The lowest cost option would be the $850 for 30 classes, but even then you'll need to either buy a pair of shoes for $150 or pay $3 to rent them each class. I compared the pricing chart with the SoulCycle in DC and maybe unsurprisingly there's also a New York premium. The staff and environment are both great, and you get to work both your lower and upper bodies with crunches while cycling and weight lifting. It's always an intense 45 minutes but I'm hoping with regular attendance you'll see concrete results. I'm holding off on buying any package for now. After exploring more fitness options in FiDi and adjacent neighborhoods maybe I'll decide to return and become a regular, but maybe not. read more

I love SoulCycle, it is such a great way to put a spin on a boring exercise. The classes are lively, intense, upbeat, and fun. Soul FiDi is right around the block from my office so it's super convenient for me that's why I love going there for a workout on my lunch break. This location is located on Maiden Lane and you have to walk up a few flights up steps and once you're in it just oozes with positive energy. The facility is immaculate, the staff is friendly, and the instructors are helpful. There is only one studio at this location. The classes are intense, but they are easy to navigate once you start riding. I would advise you to wear light clothing because you will sweat your ass off (literally), and bring water you'll need it. You don't need to wear sneakers because the soul bikes are designed specially for a specific type of shoe you must rent, which is great way to pump you for more money, but it is one less piece of gym equipment you need. The workout is amazing you're not only doing cardio, but you're also working your core and arms. I didn't realize how much of a full body workout I was getting until I took my first class, I was surprised. Some instructors are soul full and like to give encouraging one-liners throughout the class and others don't say much. I like hearing the encouraging words because.... well it is soulcycle after all, I want to hear some deep, moving stuff! My fav instructors at this location so far are Brittany and Chris, they both put on great classes. I enjoy SoulCycle, but it is ridiculously expensive and it is cheaper for me to get a gym membership, hence why it gets 4 stars. If they offered groupons or some type of discounting offer where I can take a few, I would love that. I'll go everyone once in awhile when I need to shake up my routine. read more

I will admit, while I was excited to try my first soulcycle class I wasn't expecting such a great experience. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful - checking in and setting up ended up being a breeze even being a first-timer. I didn't feel that awkward "I don't know what I'm doing" feeling that I many times feel when trying a new workout class or gym. Awful experience tonight as my first time at SoulCycle in the Financial District. The front desk person who said her name was Jessica, was incredibly rude. She wasnt able to locate my booking on her end and refused to view it on my app (where it was showing). As a result, I left the studio without taking a class (after I'd commuted in from Jersey for that particular class). Perhaps it was just her lack of training /experience but she is at a front desk and the face of the brand - at least in this location. read more

When my hippie, yoga fanatic friend recommend that I try Soul Cycle, I was a little skeptical; even the name itself made me feel like we were all going to sit on uncomfortably close bikes, hold hands, sing kumbaya and occasionally pedal our feet. But my building was giving us free classes and a new studio just opened literally 2 minutes from my apartment so I thought, "urgh fine." And guess what: I REALLY enjoyed my first ride! The room was dim, lit with candles and and mood lighting. Music blasted from the speakers as you pedal to the beat. All the instructors are very motivational- some are tougher than others but that's expected right? The classes take the "soul" in their name very seriously. The hallways are super narrow and it took some navigating to locate the studio (I'm not as familiar with the FiDi area). This location definitely has the largest studio I've seen so far. I called the studio the week before and the front desk helped me set up an account and book a Saturday morning class with Christina P. Since it was first class I had no idea what a soul survivor class was but I'm glad I tried it! It is an extra 15 mins of the class and it was great. Christina was very kind and had no problem helping us set up our bikes. She was very motivating. I would definitely want to do more classes Also, this studio is veryyyy nice. Everything is brand new. I've never taken a SoulCycle class but while visiting my NYC daughter, we took in a class on a Saturday morning. Talk about high energy! I was sweating like a pig within the first 5 minutes. Being a 'mature' woman, I kept the level commensurate to my ability and praying that the instructor wouldn't come over to me to crank up the level - ha! I live in FiDi, where there are no boutique class studios, so when SoulCycle opened a block from my apartment, it was a no-brainer to try it! It's a really nice studio, the management has been super accommodating and nice, and there are enough lockers for 2 classes, so you don't have to wait to switch lockers with someone from the previous class. String and Nicholas are my favorites, and I really wish String would lead more classes at this location! read more

Whenever I'm traveling and near a soulcycle, I like to try them out and see what the studio is like and the instructors. You actually have to walk upstairs and down a hallway to get to the front desk but it's pretty roomy. There are 5-6 showers in the locker room. The hallway is pretty narrow to the actual cycling studio so when a class gets out before or after you, it's hard to navigate through without touching sweaty people. I rode on Tuesday with Eddie @530 and going again tonight! (Thursday 530) I also love that there is a juice generation right downstairs. read more

I have been doing Soul Cycle for over a year and getting to classes from the Financial District in the morning was the most difficult part. I often trekked to the TriBeCa location, and during their renovation, went to the West Village studio (both of which were minimum 30-40 minutes to get to). Needless to say, my first experience at the new location was amazing. The reception area is roomy and allows for multiple people to check in and not be standing on top of each other. The locker area is a bit narrow but it is long enough where people can sit and put on shoes on one side, and wait for class to start on the other side. It was my first time with Michael (guilty of following my favorite instructors and not trying others) and his class was perfect for 7AM - I will definitely be going back. I'm also so happy that my two favorite instructors, String and Rique offer classes there as well! Since it is a newer place, their classes don't fill up in the first .5 seconds so I can actually sign up for them and get a good seat. Overall - SO HAPPY! read more

I love this 45 minute workout. By the end of it you are drenched in sweat, and can apply some of what the instructor illuminated in class to real life. I've heard some people not having good experiences their first time but it all depends on what kind of music you like and how you vibe with a teacher's energy. It's all about the instructor. There are so many kinds; so keep going until you find one that's for you or ask your friends who they like and you might find a match. I love Christina P.! She's my favorite at the FiDi location. Her music is mostly hip hop, reggae, trap, edm. Sometimes she sprinkles in other types but her playlist is fire. She will make you work and earn that latte after class. Feel like you need to have strong core muscles for her class because there are times when she likes to go really fast on moderate to high resistance and I'm always out of breath pushing myself. Found after I began pure barre (strengthening my core) these really fast intervals are more manageable. Christina also has a great sense of humor. Highly recommend her! The FiDi studio is super clean. Tons of showers but a bit tight in the bathroom changing area if the class was full. Tons of lockers. Staff is super friendly and attentive. read more

Personally I haven't had any issues with management. In my experiences, everyone at the front desk is always pleasant and helpful. The instructors are really nice and know how to motivate you. I absolutely love the classes. My one and only complaint is the cost, but I think everyone knows that going in. I feel like complaining about SoulCycle being expensive is like complaining that the high end make-up you purchased was expensive. I am pretty sure anyone looking for bargain gym memberships knows that's not SoulCycle's shtick. read more

Not sure why people go crazy about SoulCycle. I only have been to this location, and my review will be only based on this location. (FYI I've been to peloton, flywheel, swerve, and cyc) I couldn't find anything "unique". 1. No proper locker room. They have a restroom/changing section..., but the space is *minimal*. They have some small lockers in the hallway. The restroom/changing section stinks and is VERY crowded. I didn't want to stay there. No cool amenities. I would recommend you changing at your home or at your work before coming here. 2. The classroom suffocates you. No real ventilation. They close the room and there was no sufficient air conditioning. Also, I do not get the point of lighting a candle... The room is already filled with many people, without appropriate air conditioning. Once you light a candle, it will consume more oxygen. I am exaggerating a bit, but I think it is totally not a good environment for those who care about the air quality. 3. No free shoes rental; actually nothing is free here. You pay for everything. 4. Not sure about the quality of music they play. I've already experienced better elsewhere. 5. Bikes are pretty old. No meter monitor. You won't know if you are up to speed. Overall, my experience was a total meh, and after the first class here, I firmly decided not to come back to SoulCycle, as I couldn't find any merit. read more

This studio is more spacious than some of the other studios in NYC and has pretty good instructors. I will say the only downside is that most classes aren't that well attended yet (as the studio is fairly new) so the energy isn't the same as say, the union square classes. But it's conveniently located for me, making those early morning classes easier to wake up for. read more

I took my first Soul Cycle class at the Maiden Lane location this past weekend, and I love it! I would totally go back! I know some people are not a fan of the loud music but it keeps you going! The only problem I had with this location (I'm not sure how the others are), but the lockers are outside of the ladies and mens rooms. Would be more useful if they were inside! I hate cardio but knew that I couldn't do just yoga and barre forever (and need to walk up stairs without being out of breath!), so I decided to check out Soul Cycle. I love the awesome music. I love the instructors' energy. I love the motivational talk. I love the choreography that makes me feel like I'm at a fun party and not just on a bike. I also love that this class is really all about YOU. You decide how much resistance to put on. You decide how much effort and energy you want to put into the class. You decide how fast or slow you go. I love that the class goes by so quickly and once we get to the weights section (nearing the end of class), I'm always surprised that we are already there. Yes, we all know it sucks how expensive it is, but for me, it's what 'll get me doing cardio! Side note: The staff at this location are also really friendly and helpful.
