Luckily we were able to find Thomas' shop before he closed for the day who generously secured the loose splash guard at no charge. We were in and out of there in 15 minutes which put my mind at ease for the rest of our trip. I would definitely recommend checking him out if you live in the area and are looking for a trustworthy mechanic. He could have easily charged us for the quick fix, but instead he helped us out in a jam and got us back on the road in no time.

He thoroughly explained what I needed and how he was going to do it. When I said, "Can you also check something else?" I had only managed to get out "the car vibrates..." and he finished the sentance with... "at low speeds? Yeah, this should take care of that!" He called while the car was in the shop and said, "You know three of four tires are bald?" "yeah... I noticed that." "I'll get you a quote before the end of the day." Last time I had my tires replaced at a local chain, it cost more than the tires, balancing, and the bumper and front wheel well repairs combined. I agreed and he went to work. When I picked it up, it drove like a dream. "Ebony" has nearly 130K miles on her, but I swear to you she hasn't driven this beautifully since I got her at 600 miles, nearly 15 years ago. Quentin, Shay (next door collaborator), and their teams got my baby looking and feeling great in no time for a VERY reasonable cost. I cannot say it enough; They are WIZARDS. :)

After Thanksgiving break, on their way back to college from Chicago to Columbus, my daughters were involved in a highway accident that left the car undrivable. (They were unhurt.) The vehicle was towed away and eventually made it to Monticello Motors for a repair estimate. From Chicago, I called and spoke to Grant. I told him my car was going to be towed to his shop and before I identified myself he rattled off all of the details from a message he must have just received from the insurer. Before I had to follow up, he called me, told me the cost and predicted, based on experience, that the insurer would likely consider the car a total loss. He was so kind about it. I'd never been through something like this and he explained to me exactly how the process plays out and what to expect. He told me he'd ship me the license plates (I hadn't even thought of that) and anything else in the car and said the cost of shipping wasn't much and he'd do it for free. I offered to pay and he refused to accept payment. He also told me to be sure to call him once I had settled on an amount for the car with the insurer - that he wouldn't release the car to them without my approval. He owed me nothing at all. Let's face it, the insurance company was the one paying him, yet he treated me like a longtime customer. Though he didn't say it outright, thanks to his explanation about the process I realized that the amount the insurance company offered me is a negotiable amount and I ended up negotiating and receiving over $800 more than the original offer. If you live near Monticello I think you'll be thrilled with the level of service you'll receive.

Nothing is worse for your car than having Chicago valets park your car daily, and parking your car daily on narrow Chicago streets. Finally, we couldn't put it off any longer because our car was now 6 years old, and there were two gouges so deep, they were starting to rust. We only have one city car so we stressed to the owner of Monticello Motors how we were on a tight schedule and needed the car back in a couple of days. He offered to work on the car over the holiday weekend just so we would have it back that Sunday night. We were wary of what the price would be since there was also a huge dent where the valet had wrapped the backside of the car into a cement mullion, and we didn't want to replace the two panels affected. The owner assured us he would do his best to bang out the dent, buff and paint it where it would be noticeable on close inspection but a huge improvement over what it looked like now. He would also take care of the two, deep long gouges and offered to fill-in all the little chips of paint missing on the hood from where tiny rocks hit it on the interstate. All this, and he was only going to charge us $600.00. It seemed too good to be true, but true to his word, he did everything he said he would do, better than we thought possible, over the holiday weekend and in time for us to go home on Sunday night all for $600.00. Wow! Everyone we met at Monticello Motors was very nice, but we especially enjoyed talking to the owner who is himself a transplant from Chicago and worked for years at the dealership where we purchased our car. That gave us extra confidence he knew what he was doing and a professional to boot. I can't believe we can get this kind of service in Monticello for such a steal.

I brought my car there a little over a month ago with an oil leak. I told him i was pretty sure it…read morewas a warped plastic oil pan but the guy assured me it was the oil level sensor. He assured me that lots of cars have plastic oil pans and it's nothing to worry about. So i pay him $700 to fix it. Turns out it didn't fix my leak, was leaking just as badly. So i brought it back to him, and what do you know? Hes explaining to me on the phone that it's because the plastic oil pan was warped. He did seem to feel sorry and give me a good deal on replacing the oil pan, so i spent another 500. He tried to say that fixing one oil leak can cause another, but the oil was clearly leaking from the oil pan the first time i brought it in. I even have obvious photos of it from before I ever brought it to him the first time. I shouldn't have let him convince me it was the sensor. Could he be right? Maybe. But I think the evidence leans towards he made a mistake. Which is fine, mistakes happen. But he could at least admit it.

I took my car there because I was having a major front end problem, and they were close to home. I went I expecting the worst, but was very pleasantly surprised. They fixed my vehicle the same day, didn't try to up charge or find any more work to do, and did it all for what I consider to be a reasonable price. When the truck wouldn't start, she recommended Ken's Repair Service in Reynolds IN. You never know what kind of repair service you're going to get when you breakdown on a busy interstate and my wife and I were a bit leery. But I could not be more happier with service that Ken's Repair Service provided. Ken looked at the truck and determined the fuel pump was the problem. He even added a little bit of gas just to be sure we were not out of gas. He dropped us off at a nearby Dairy Queen and went back with his tow truck to pick up my truck. It was early afternoon and Ken was able to locate a replacement pump. This was in addition to everything else he had going on that afternoon. It was delivered later that afternoon to his shop. We spent the evening with our daughter in Indianapolis. On Sunday morning, Ken replaced the broken pump and we were heading back to Chicago by noon. The towing charge, labor and parts were reasonably priced.
