Purchased 2 way remote start, installed in half day. Quoted $275 and out the door paid over $300. Less then 6 months later it stopped working, took couple of summer months to call then, when I did rep. said that I'm covered under warranty. Dropped car couple days later at new location on Macdade at 9am and about 11am was told it's ready. Rep. said they flashed computer. Remote start works now. Guy at the counter was more patient this time and answered all my "end user" questions. 2 stars off due to remote start braking down less then 6 months after install. 1 star plus due to honoring warranty and fixing it. If you go for remote start install: 1. make sure your factory remote still can make car alarm to sound off, so you can find it in parking lots. 2. Remote start has timeout of 12, 24, 60 minutes. The default setting is 12 minutes. In winter it was not enough to warmup inside of the car. Ask them to set it to 24 or 60 minutes. (I went with 60 minutes because I came to the car at 30 minutes mark) 3. Remote can show temperature inside the car OR remote-start timer countdown. Ask them to set it to temperature. (Thermometer sensor comes with remote start) 4. Ask them to set "door lock on" when car is started. This is great feature that I did not have on my car. Basically as soon as I started car, doors would lock and when I arrive at me destination and turn car off, doors unlock themselves. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I wanted basic radio that would have 3.5mm jack, USB and XM radio. They quoted me $450 plus tax. Best Buy quoted $240 out the door for single deck Sony. Including installation, wiring, face plate, xm tuner. The "your car needs an extra part" seems to be a commonality here. I felt insulted. I am not stupid and I have installed car stereos many times. Two guys were behind the desk. The newer guy engages me. From the moment I walked in I got that feeling that these guys were the type, you know, when you walk in somewhere and they act like they know what they are doing and you are stupid? Yea that one. Its actually a sales tactic to gain power. So he asks me what car. I say 2017 Mitsubishi i-Miev. He finds nothing in "his distributors". The guy in charge (Michael F store manager) says "Are you sure its not an outlander?". First insult. Like I don't know what car I am driving? He says "I never heard of that". Like he's heard of every car and because he never heard of it, it doesn't exist. I love it! So I say "No, i-Miev, i dash miev. He says again "I never heard of it". Insult number 2. Thats like saying, you don't know what car you are driving idiot! Yea, I researched the car, went and signed the paperwork and everything and have been driving it and I don't know the model! I think its an i-miev but its really a Highlander! So I say "it's been around since 2012". He says "Its produced in America?". Insult #3. Again, like since he never heard of it, it doesn't exist. Yes, produced in America. So then they find the right dash kit on ebay and then I have to hear a long sermon on Chinese parts and that he can't guarantee fit or finish just to find out that the part is made in Germany and then he changes his mind about it. The guy in charge says quietly (as if I can't hear) "do $125 for the install just in case". Now, understand, the dash panel is $75 and looks exactly like the stock one and is probably 10 minutes work. So this was insult #4. They are just trying to convince everyone that walks in that their car is unique and make an extra hundred off it. Then they work up the price. Upper $400s. So I ask to break down the price for me. "How much is the radio, install, etc". He answers me in some way that never tells me anything. A sales tactic to hide the details. I ask again. He tells me the price of the radio. I have to ask about each and every part one at a time like pulling teeth. Then we get to the extra part. $24.99 for the antenna adapter. I say "doesn't that come with the stereo?" No. I say "you mean some cars don't have that standard antenna plug? Yes he says, blah blah. So I'm being charged for something that we don't know even exist. Plus, every adapter known to man is about $5 or $10 not 25, especially at cost. So this was insult #5. Then I ask "Can I take something with me?", because I wanted to know what model stereo and look around. No, your info is in our computer and you can call us back. Insult #6. I was done at insult #2 but I like to just follow thru because maybe I'll learn something and I did. So I decided I'll just to buy it myself and give them a call and get free advice from the seller that is awesome like I usually do, and do it myself like usual. This I highly recommend. Youtube soldering and buy yourself a kit and learn to do it. It will come in handy many times in life. Plus, when you get it done by "professionals" you never know if they are really soldering the connections or just using quick connectors until you open the dash years later or never. If they are not soldering then you just paid hundreds for a 15 minute job. If they are soldering, you paid hundreds for a 30 minute job. I walked out thinking I don't care if it takes me a whole day I'm not going to give my money to schisters like this! Hey 2 guys at Sound of Tri-State in Morton, I'm not stupid and not deceived by one of your tactics. Would have been glad to pay a reasonable amount for a quality install but not with several insults and added mark ups. Plus, looks like from previous reviewers that you can't even get the wiring right and that you don't check your work (remote starter defaults to A/C and you then blame it on the car). Again, the "your car is different game". Also, I found the wiring harness for my car that fit perfectly, with the help of the seller of the new stereo. Took me less than 2 hours to install! WORST PLACE EVER!!!!! I bought a groupon for and automatic car starter on December 14th, 2014 and booked the installation the same day. The manager that i spoke to that day (MIKE) told me that they wouldnt be able to get me in until today. January 12th, 2015. He also did not seem thrilled to know that i had a groupon at all. Mike told me that the install would take all day and that the car needed to be there first thing in the morning. I said, "is 8 or 9 ok?" and he said "yeah" and hung up. Well guess what? I woke up to a wintery mix this morning and didn't feel safe driving 40 minutes away on the icy roads. When i called to reschedule, i learned that they do not even open until 10 am! When i finally did get a hold of Mike around 10:30, he told me that i didn't have an appointment at all!!! He said that the next available appointment wasn't till the end of the month!!! I told him that I booked my appointment, with him, a month ago. He YELLED at me and said "What do you want me to do, lady? It's not booked and you're not coming anyway! I don't owe you any favors!" This is the point in the story where I called groupon and got my money back. I am shocked that this place is "so busy" since i am clearly not the first person to write a bad review. I always try to to give positive feedback when a place give me good service. Sound of Tri-State is one of those places. I just recently bought a new car and wanted to move my dash cam over so they did the install and the camera didn't power up so the manager offerd to send it back to the manufacturer for repair or replacement if it is possible. If they can't fix it that's cool but that's not the point the point is service these guys get it right everytime I go there. Mike did a great job installing remote start in my car and two I bought as Christmas gifts. While my car was in he was able to tint th windows and install headrest Entertainment for my kids. The job was absolutely amazing and so call I can start my car now from my phone and program it to sta automatically every morning for me so it's warm when I leave for work. read more

What can I say! My car sounds amazing!!!! Went into the store with a small idea of what i wanted my tunes to sound like while i was in my car and they made it come to life. I was a little out of touch with car audio and just assumed one of those giant bass tubes would be pushed on me when i went in. Totally not the case, the knowledge of not just car audio but the science behind it was amazing. These guys really know their stuff. I ended up getting all new speakers and a small but wonderful sounding subwoofer all run off a new amplifier. My car was completed in just one day and it looked as if nothing was done to it at first. The sound though once I got in was a 1000 times better than before! Highly recommend SOTS to all of my friends and family. Mike and Kevin did a fantastic job, make sure you go see them! read more

I recently purchased a Groupon for a remote car starter and installation from Sound of Tri-State, redeemable at any of their locations. Morton PA was the closest, and I just learned is their newest location. I made an appointment about 10 days ago, at which point I was told I'd receive a call confirming the appointment with me a few days prior (I never got the call) and when I arrived, I was told that my appointment was actually yesterday (I know for a fact it wasn't). I could overlook these scheduling errors; things happen. However, what was very troubling was the fact that at the time of scheduling, I was asked the year make and model of my vehicle ('11 Sonata). The person I spoke with neglected to inform me that certain newer model cars, including mine, require an additional part for the installation that would cost me an extra $80 from the $149 they were charging. The person behind the counter was completely uninterested in helping achieve a solution, instead choosing to be rude and deflect blame at every turn. Fortunately when I explained this situation to Groupon, they refunded me the full amount I paid for the installation. Another thing: the Groupon stated that I was paying about half of the value of this service, and yet Sounds of Tri-State advertise the cost of their remote car starter and installation as $149 - exactly what I paid. I don't know if this is just a holiday special they're running or if that is typically what they charge, but it seems dishonest to have a Groupon running when the value they advertise is the same. I obviously can't speak to the quality of work this company does since I never got to that point, but their customer service was really awful. Disappointed in the customer service! Went in to see about getting a remote starter put in my car. Upon entering (I was the only person in the store), the woman behind the counter told me she couldn't help me and that someone would be coming out to help me soon (OK, no big deal). A man came out a few minutes later and began socializing with her while I stood at the counter for a few minutes. Eventually, he looked over at me and asked if I needed help. I told him I was interested in getting a remote starter and we began to talk prices. As I began to ask questions about additional work he might be able to do (wanted to get a bypass to the rear defroster), I was told that my ideas were "careless" and that he would not do them. Did he really just refuse my business?? As I began to somewhat "defend" myself as to "my" personal ideas for "my" car it seemed as though he had an arrogant tone as though "he knew more than me so I should just keep my mouth shut." Needless to say I decided not to buy from them. I feel as though these places should be willing to educate/work with customers, not make them feel stupid. There are plenty of other places that install remote starters. I'd leave this place alone! read more

Mike was very helpful in getting me a remote starter for my girlfriend's car. I have used other places before, but I can say I am impressed with the level of customer service here. Although I originally went in to price a couple of things, I walked out feeling great about the purchases I made. I have a lot of friends that customize cars and I'll be sending them here. read more
