I ran into some difficulties and I called them for advice, on a Saturday, when they were slammed. Steven told me to just bring it in and he'd help me figure it out. On a Saturday. The folks at Sound Proof did an amazing job installing the tint on my Civic. They also did a great job fixing the speaker rattle caused by the rear window deck (which is known to happen with the 2017 model). It would be 5 stars if not for how they treated my wife with her tint and stereo installation. Honestly, it was hard to believe it was the same shop. * tint was installed *mostly* well, but definitely left some jagged edges around some of the smaller windows * on their suggestion, purchased a stereo from Retro Manufacturing which was specifically designed for her truck model * after about 7-10 days, the stereo stopped working completely * once my wife took it in for them to examine, they wouldn't even look at it. They simply laughed at her and said "yeah there's only a 50/50 chance those stereos will ever work." Really? Why did you suggest it specifically? I had Soundproof remove 2 rear door speakers (Focal 5.5"), sub box (Kenwood 10") and 2 amps along with all wiring from a 2011 Chevy Equinox and then re-install same components in a 2015 Equinox. De-install took 4.5 hrs, re-install took 8.5 hours. Upon departing Soundproof and testing the newly installed system (which had worked perfectly in the previous vehicle) I found the sound was off and assumed there was a blown speaker. I called Soundproof the following day and they were very friendly and asked I bring it back to inspect. They confirmed one of the rear door Focals was blown and recommended both be swapped out for Focal 63/4". Not wanting to invest more of my time I asked them to go ahead and replace the door speakers (2 more hours). The work they did was professional, detailed and looks great from the amp mounts to the wiring and the dynamat sound proofing. The final system they installed sounds tight. The blown Focal raised a red flag, I did not drive my speakers hard and assume during their super loud sound testing and re-setting / wiring everything the result was the blown speaker which caused me to have to buy further equipment. Too much of a coincidence, not assuming it was intentional at all but I feel it was the result of their install process. Had it not been for the blown speaker and the very long wait (last install of same equipment in the 2011 Equinox took 4.5 hrs) they would have earned 5 stars. They are very professional and friendly! They also did not charge any further labor on taking out the door speakers and putting in the new ones. Next time I need car audio service I will look into other providers but of the 8 places I called this round only Soundproof answered their phone (they were slammed the whole time I was there). read more

I'm a gal who likes to attempt DIY when possible. Its fun to learn along the way, and thanks to the internet, there are plenty of good resources and instructions to help along the way. However, I was pretty stumped when it came to installing a new head unit recently. The number of wires / inputs on the head unit harness far outnumbered the wires to be matched on the adapter. And some of them were the same color except with a white stripe, so what to do with that? I couldn't find anything online that made me feel more confident about it. I could have given it a shot, but was afraid I'd fry the unit. I also wanted to bypass the factory amp and install a backup camera. I felt pretty sure I could do a lot of it, but just needed some coaching on the wires. Unfortunately you can't really hire audio install "coaches"! I had taken it to a place near where I live in Decatur and got one quote. The installer wouldn't consider only doing the wires for me, and he wanted to charge a good amount to bypass the factory amp. I did more research online, but starting to feel overwhelmed and pressed for time to get this project finished, I took it back to the same install shop. I had taken all the interior panels down to expose the wiring in the van, and had screwed the head unit into the removable dash, so a lot of the work had already been started. This really seemed to grate on the installer in Decatur and he quoted me an even higher price this time! There was definitely an attitude of "Stupid girl - she shouldn't touch stuff she doesn't know about..." I had a neighbor offer me advice from a friend who runs the electronics projects lab at Emory, but I thought "Let me try one more thing..." I called Soundproof thinking that I might get a more patient, sympathetic ear from someone outside of Atlanta. Sure enough, Randy said to come on out. When he saw what I had already done, and that I had discovered from diving deep into online forums that Toyota had hidden factory amp bypass wiring preinstalled, he was impressed. He told me "You've got this! You don't even need me - just connect these wires and you're good." But I still felt like I'd end up with questions about the wiring if I left and did it on my own, so asked if he'd PLEASE connect them together and I'd pay for it. He did - although he felt like I was spending money I didn't need to - and I was on my way in 15 minutes or so. I stopped down the street and hooked everything up loosely just to see - and whadaya know - viola! Went home and installed the backup camera - although that wasn't easy since the Chinglish instructions were horrible. But, it felt great to figure it all out and do it myself. I'll definitely go back to Soundproof when I have some extra $$ to replace the speakers and add a new amp - maybe get some tinting done. Its difficult as a woman to know when you're getting the straight scoop on anything car related. The installer here in Decatur would have absolutely WAY overcharged me. Instead, Randy was not only honest, but he encouraged my DIY attitude! THANK YOU!! read more

DO NOT DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!I just went in yesterday to get 2 speackers installed in my car,i have a 2013 ford fusion and today I call them stating my car just gave signal that I need to check my charging system witch I have never seen this message ever,then car turned off and won't come on, they charged me rite under $488 to install.Iwas told over the phone without them even thinking about it for 1second that your alternator was going bad so you need to fix that we don't give refunds,,,my car is up to date,i mean I get service to my car on time and why is that my alternator was been dong fine until sound proof connected some wire to my battier yesterday.My point is that pushed the blam off on my alternator was going bad already how would you know that and if so why connect something that will pull more power to the car if alternator is going bad,there is no way to know when the alternator is going bad it just wont work one day it gives no signal.$488 they just stole from me and I still have to tow my car to a shop and pay $590 to fix and still don't have my speakers connect the rite way so ill need to pay someone else to reconnect..I did 2 months of reseach and thought they would work and their 5mins from my house so maybe I should have traveled to another company..Iam screwed...and I didn't want to give 1 star they make you just to post your review.i seen all these great reviews but now I question these reviews,plue they are not registered with the better business bureau witch is crazy...I slipped should have checked bbb site 1st..BBB STATE BUSINESS IS CLOSED!!!!!RED FLAG.... read more
