This is a wonderful office. We decided to come to this office after they had a booth at the magnolia summer fest festival. I love that the location is so close and its in a quiet location. Hummmm.... you always as a true yelper have to raise an eyebrow at a business that is covered in 5 stars... and that is the only review the reviewer has done. Not to start out on a bad note here... but it makes you wonder. I tried this place out any ways. Upon entering you can't help but feel like you are stuck in the show "Private Practice" everyone is beautiful and young. Everyone. The office is decorated to the 9's. It is complete with a huge flat screen and remote in the waiting room which has been decorated to look more like you are in a living room. The couches are super comfortable, so much so that when the Chiropractor comes out to call me - I am not terribly excited to get up. I have always been really afraid of Chiropractors- never thought it would be a good idea. I am still skeptical. (Hence 4 Stars - if my back gets better they get 5 and I will come back and update you. The 4 stars are for: 1. The front desk staff - Hailey; who has an amazing personality; smile and kindness that makes you want to be around her all the time; again when the Chiropractor comes out... to call me again (I am not terribly eager to leave). She is really on top of her stuff. 2. Cleanliness and overall feeling of comfort in the decor. 3. The guy who got me in there (I met him while I donating blood in Magnolia). So I have been having some lower back issues the last week or so. Yesterday I awoke to agonizing pain that lasted all day and wouldn't seem to dissipate no matter what I did. So today I hoped on Yelp and found that Magnolia Chiropractic was 2 minutes down the road. The positive reviews I read before calling to schedule an appointment were spot on. I called and left a message and was called back within an hour. I ended up getting an appointment made for the same day. Christy was super friendly and clear over the phone, and perhaps even more so when I walked in. I was offered water or tea/coffee which was yet another little thing to make the entire visit even better. Dr. Penner was very clear and informative explaining everything he was doing in trying to diagnose my problem. He gave me some stretches and things to do at home which have helped tremendously in addition to the initial correction he did at the office. I did not think I would be feeling this much better in such a short amount of time without the help of a major pain killer. Well, this was my first experience with a chiropractor at the age of 25, and I can definitely say I'll be going back even once my initial problem has been fixed. It's been four+ years since first meeting Dr. Josh for chiropractic and Tai for massage. I am still seeing both Dr. Josh and Tai nearly once a week, and could not be happier! Working a desk job with lots of keyboard and mouse time, along with running and weightlifting (not all at the same time, of course) my neck, traps, and rear delts are often tight, which creates tension and headaches. I do my best to schedule and keep a weekly appointment with Dr. Josh and Tai 3-4 times a month, and I feel much more loose, flexible, and healthy when I do. I have a chronic auto immune spinal arthritis with no cure. Managing pain is my only option. I was nervous about switching to a new chiropractor (after 15 years with my current Dr.) but thought I would visit Dr. Penner because the office is right around the corner. I was intrigued because he seemed innovative and has on staff a brilliant massage therapist with specialized training to work with injuries. I cannot thank Dr. Penner enough for giving me back my health. While there is no cure for my illness, my pain is more manageable. But, the biggest surprise is that I have regained energy which has been missing for the last several years. With this new energy and optimism I am beginning to exercise and move more which will help me regain some of the strength I've lost. This strength of course will help support my spine and boost my morale. I've experienced healing on several levels through Dr. Penner's care. He listens, he explains conditions well, includes exercises and stretches ,has a good sense of humor and his office staff make you feel incredibly welcome. As a "professional patient" I have a medical team which now includes Dr. Penner. My rheumatologist even mentioned how much better I appeared and asked what I'd been doing that was different. This is a long "yelp" but this is a really big deal for me and my family. I hope others, especially those with chronic conditions, will give Dr. Penner a visit and experience better health like me. After not attending hot yoga for 2 weeks in favor of living it up during the holidays, I went back to yoga only to find myself having pain the next day from my shoulder moving through my neck and causing a terrible headache. I knew I needed a Chiropractor, but my normal Chiropractor was down in Burien and honestly, I got tired of making the drive and taking so much time off work. So I started searching.. after a few failed phone calls, I remembered driving by Magnolia Chiropractic and Massage, so I decided to try and look it up. Lucky for me Magnolia and Chiropractic are right in their name and google found it right away. I checked out their website then made a quick phone call. Marty answered and I asked the standard questions. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, and funny so I felt confident that I would be well taken care of. Upon asking for an appt, he had one open 20 minutes later! What a relief. I work very close so I just hopped in the car and headed over. I was greeted with lots of smiles and positive energy from Marty and Christy. There was a patient or 2 in the waiting room and I was impressed by how nice the decor was and pleased that there were books for adults as well as kids and toys for the kids as well. I think everyone could stay entertained. Dr. Penner was really nice, and walked me through everything he was doing. He even gave me a stretch to do to help the muscles that I am currently struggling with. Overall, I was greatly impressed. I was looking for a new Chiropractor that I could see when things just got to difficult to work with, but wasn't looking for someone that would want me to come back constantly with no end in sight. Dr. Penner said a few appointments should take care of the problem completely and that was it! I didn't feel pressured just "a few more should take care of it." Great! Exactly what I was looking for. I've seen Dr Penner for a few years now when my lower back acts up. It used to be incapacitating for days, and now it's just a one day annoyance. His advice on exercises, and his sure hands have made the difference. One important thing: he is willing to honestly discuss what's just a theory and what's proven, and admits what might not work. While I believe that chiropractic can work, I had never had a successful experience until I met Dr. Penner! I have an extremely active job and lifestyle and he truly understands my need to be mobile and out of pain. I had chronic back pain ever since I can remember, and while I've been able to alleviate the pain, it's never completely gone away. After one session with Dr. Penner, I was completely pain-free, and maintenance has been minimal. He is not the chiropractor who just cracks your back and sends you on your way.
