Good. Yes. Great? Maybe with a bit more refinement and time. Having just opened a few months ago, Soup N' Burger is one of the newer restaurants in Sheepshead Bay. Located on the ground floor of a new condo building, it's a nice change of pace from the restaurants that have been here for decades. Don't get me wrong, I loveeee the ethnic cuisines served in the area, but sometimes it's just nice to have variety, right???? My wife and I finally gave it a try after waiting a short period so that they could get all their ducks in a row. We dropped in on Valentine's Day and were immediately seated in one of their booths. I get it, not an ideal place for Valentine's Day, but we're simple people. We immediately noticed the spaciousness of the restaurant. It was very big with plenty of booths and tables. The restaurant was still very new looking. We were presented with menus right after we sat down. The menu was loaded with soups, salads, burgers, wraps, sides/small plates, crepes, smoothies, desserts and shakes. We were here primarily for burgers, so we didn't really give anything else a 2nd look. My wife order the Philly Burger and a side of sweet potato fries and I ordered a Texas Burger with a side of cheese fries. In addition, we both ordered large shakes. So, first, the burgers. Let me just say that we came in with low expectations and we came out surprised! The burgers were thick and still juicy despite being overcooked. I will say that the burgers were smothered with toppings and sauce so that would have added to the burger flavors. And we ordered the burgers medium and they were way overcooked. With that said, somehow it still tasted good. Next, the fries. Another winner! The fries were thick and fried crispy. Just the way we love our fries. Finally, the shakes. The shakes were a bit disappointing. Although the shakes were flavorful, they were too thin and over-blended. On top of it, the large cup was misleading in size because there was too much empty space that made up the cup. We would have liked to have more content considering the price we paid for the shake too. On a final note, the service was good. Ripoff on tips!!! Watch your bill, I only noticed my third time coming here and it was too late by then. It says "gratuity included" on every page of the menu, which is great. When the bill comes, they automatically add another 18%. I came here many times, unfortunately only noticed now. We were not awfully hungry but in the area teaching my friend how to drive. Stoped by here and decided to get something to share. First off, how do burgers not automatically come with fries? We ordered the fries separately and the small quantity was for $6. The burger was good but basic. Nothing special- $10 and that was the cheapest one but we were craving something fish. Every other burger was $12 or more. All in all the bill was almost $30 with tax. Mind you, that's two of us just happening to share a meal for one. Their signature SNS sauce was nothing special I gave it 3 stars because the waitress got our order wrong , and she disappeared after our order was taken . My experience here was such a let down, I had the Philly burger, and Mac and Cheese. The burger had no sauce which made it dry, and my burger was also over cooked (it was well done, I like my burgers medium rare). The sad thing is that if they knocked down the portion size of that Mac by 3 truckloads and a dolly and actually made it from scratch homemade I would've happily paid $12 for a gourmet Mac. My friend got the tomato soup, which looked really grainy and not smooth and rich. Then, I noticed it had chicken stock in it! He can eat dairy, but not meat! Since the area is heavily russian and Jewish, this business has a responsibility to notify its community whether or not a dish is kosher or not. Booo! Onto the service. The server never asked me how I want my burger cooked, and instead was the cliche type of friendly. They tried too hard to be nice, maybe to get a good tip. They didn't have to do that, they would've still gotten 20%. I believe it's cruel to deprive someone of a tip when they have a lapse of judgement. However what I value in a server is thoroughness and genuineness; for example asking me how I want my burger, or telling me that the burger I chose has no sauce so I know what I'm getting into. Believe me, if I'm over paying for a dry frozen burger at least make it decent. When I first came to the newly opened SoupNBurger, I found that the service, though eager, was slow and unreliable. Having returned a year later, it seems the staff has found their rhythm. One of things I was initially unsatisfied with was how difficult it was to flag a waiter. Asking for things like more water or the check took 15-20 minutes and this was my experience during off-peak hours. However on my most recent visit, the waiters were still as friendly as ever but were much more attentive even though I came during peak hours. Based on this marked improvement, I'm optimistic about returning soon. Of all the menu items I've tried, I would recommend the SNB burger (your standard cheeseburger with L&T, onions, and avocado) or the House Salad (baby spinach, dried cranberries, goat cheese, apples, oranges, cucumbers, tomatoes, and walnuts). All burgers at SoupNBurger come with a pickle, brioche bun, and hefty beef patty. I've been here three times so far and all three experiences were pretty good. The first time I got the chicken wrap, which can be on the bland side for some, but it was the right amount of flavor for me. The second time I ordered the combo which included a burger, soup, and fries. I chose the fried chicken sandwich and the chicken itself was crispy but there was something off with the flavors. It may have been the bun but it's difficult to pinpoint. The tomato soup is AMAZING. It's definitely more on the creamy side which I like. The third time I came I got the clam chowder which was delicious. My boyfriend got the combo the first two times with a turkey burger, fries, and tomato soup which he really enjoyed both times. The weird thing is we were only offered bread the second time we went and then I had to request it the third time. I'm bringing attention to this because the bread is really good - the outside is slightly crunchy and the inside is so warm and soft. It goes so well with the soups. Aside from the food, the service was pretty standard until it was time to clear the table and get our bill. The first time was quick and efficient but the last two times were not. We were done eating and waiting for the table to be cleared and when that happened we waited another 10 minutes before we could ask for the bill. We were inside the restaurant but maybe the outdoor seating area was more crowded and they didn't have enough people to cover every table. We were also thinking maybe the staff just wanted to give us time to date? So it's good if you want a place to hang out longer but we just wanted to eat and go. Please also note that 18% gratuity is included in the bill. They also make note of that in the menu. I really appreciate that they do this. That's one less thing to calculate. Update: (9/28/19) My bf and I visited again for lunch. This time we asked for the check immediately after ordering our food. This saved us from having to wait to get our waiter's attention. This is my brutally honest review: Used to come to Soup N Burger since when it opened. Food used to be great but I will say that COVID killed it. To start off with, the restaurant isn't serving tap water due to "hygienic" reasons which is absolute BS. They make you pay for a bottle of water which is heavily overpriced. The portions have severely decreased and although they have a new menu, the prices have skyrocketed. $8.25 for a lemonade?!?! You guys are absolutely ridiculous. On top of that, they charge an 18% service fee when I was barely taken care of. The waiters are nice and accommodating but the owner and management need to go over what's more important, the customer or the pricing? Way way, back the original Lundy's for their delicious sea food. It was a Sunday Greenberg outing. So yesterday. mom and I revisited our past a bit.. Nice restaurants dot the shoreline, It's the place to be if you want to enjoy outdoor dining: My mom and I were walking off our delicious lunch from Terra Cafe and decided to walk closer to the water on a steamy hot day. We came upon Soup and Burger and decided to enjoy some ice cream. Mom ordered classic vanilla and chocolate. I ordered coffee and butter pecan. All were delicious and refreshing. We enjoyed the delightful breeze. I felt I was in Jamaica. Jem, the manager, was chatting with us. He is very friendly and accommodating. He is from Turkey and mom and I have been to his country. It was a nice conversation. The inside was nicely decorated and the booths looked comfy. I loved the license plate wall and the ice cream counter looks dangerous. All in all a positive experience. This is one of my friend's favorite restaurants in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. First time that I was here. It was raining. But when has it not been raining? Can we say yes?!!!! Love booths! I look to my right as I'm walking in and there is a mini ice cream parlor inside the restaurant. My eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. How perfect was that? I've never seen that anywhere. This is genius. Anyways, walked to go to the ladies room, they have hot male staff. They have a bar, with a variety of liquors and the bartender was sexy. Yum. Yes he was sexy. I was walking while looking; no accidents occurred. Lol. Anyways they have 3 full gender neutral bathrooms and in front of the bathrooms there are 3 sinks and mirrors in front of each one. I guess the bartender has to make sure he's looking hot. (lunch should cost $10 plus or minus a few) this place had burgers at $8.00 and fries at $4.50 add a drink and its a $20.00 lunch. nevertheless we ordered and picked up, the burger was probably one of the top 5 i've ever had, at medium rare it was delicious, juicy, hot and beefy. beef juices gathered in the bottom of my recyclable container, I soaked up every bit of beefy goodness with the soft brioche style bun. melted cheese, tomato and lettuce adorned my burger, the meat, a delicious blend with a great flavor, seasoned perfectly made the burger stand out without having to put a single thing on it. Typically i'll throw on some ketchup and maybe a little mayo on it, yeah i'm one of those. but this burger literally needed nothing. perfect as is. the fries were super crispy and didn't have any sogginess to them, the entire presentation bag, condiments, napkins and all was definitely a cut above regular take out. this place is worth the slight premium you pay in price. from order to pick up the food was ready by the time we got there (under 30 minutes) we ordered as an office, 6 burgers, 3 fries and other various items. All of it prepared and packed with care. Total bill came out to a hair over $70.00 but for 6 burgers and 3 fries of that quality I'd honestly expect to pay more. Very disappointed with this place. Came here during lunch time and it was steady. To begin, the host who walked us to our seat didn't say one word to us. Like she was upset we were there. After we looked over the menu which was very pricy, I ordered a salmon wrap. Which is $13.00 with no side. I want to start by saying I was hoping this restaurant was going to be good. On the outside the restaurant looks nice for what it is, the hostess was nice and it has a nice vibe to sit out by the water. The place is owned by the same people who took over Blu Grill next door. I was a little disappointed with Blu as it was bought out in May. The service was forced not genuine and the menu selection was not as good as it was with the previous owners. I loved Blu when it opened and my review of it would be different than the one I posted this past January. On to this restaurant Soup N Burger... I do have a lot to say as I think that the majority ( not all) restaurants in Sheepshead Bay need to be investigated for their service charge they add to your bill. I am making a formal complaint with the BBB and other NYC and NY State agencies. I reviewed Cats on the Bay a few weeks ago and made a similar remark. I read several of the reviews on this restaurant which remarked on the service charge which today was 18%. A service charge is added when the restaurant stereotypes the customer as being "cheap". They force the tip which by design is there to incentivize the wait staff to perform highly. This also tells the customer "we don't trust you to do the right thing". The funny thing is I usually tip between 25-30%. This restaurant expects an "extra tip" see the attached photo. Understand this is the second restaurant I've been too with a service charge that provided less than stellar service. The wait staff knows the tip is coming so there is no compelling reason to deliver a great experience. If it wasn't they would hopefully do their best, this is sad to say but true. Let's talk about the service, the waiter came over and took our order relatively quickly. I felt a connection and thought this would be a good meal and service. We had a very basic order both were based on grilled salmon. One was a grilled salmon wrap the other a SNB salad with grilled chicken. The runner brought out the grilled salmon wrap which was good. I have nothing bad to say about that. The problem was we waited about 3 minutes and called over the waiter to find out what happened to the salad. Well it came out 3 minutes later. BTW for $21 for the salad and salmon they serve it in a plastic bowl, not even real china. You would think that someone running the kitchen would have the common sense to plate them at the same time if you're cooking the same fish?? Since my timer was running I looked at it when we were finished eating and that was when we saw the waiter again. That was 20 minutes later. He never came over to see how everything was and only asked if we wanted anything else. On a side note there were 2 families seated next to us with 4 children that were from 9 to 12 years old. I had to laugh when their "kids meals" came out. The burgers were the size of sliders with a small amount of fries. The kids were saying " well I'd give the fries 2 stars and the burger 0". I could not image these are your future Yelp reviewers. I felt bad for them and we had a laugh speaking with the parents after. The SNB salad is advertised that it comes with baby spinach that is not what you served us. It was like spinach or regular salad, not what was expected. All in all I was very disappointed, I expected a much higher standard. I would not come back or recommend this restaurant. The experience made me cross Blu Grill off my list as well. If I can give them zero stars I would. I ordered delivery and First off no utensils were provided. the food had absolutely no flavor....i ordered the mac and cheese burger and the mac and cheese was hard so was the bun I asked for my burger to be well done it was raw.. the grilled chicken wrap had more onions than chicken. the smoothies are bland no flavor at all. The lemonade was water and lemon and watered down. The only thing worth eating was the fries. Which were also cold. Ugh Worst 70.00 I ever spent. I'd recommend eating elsewhere. Great restaurant to come and sit outside at. The mushroom soup was a 10/10! Really delicious and a must try in my opinion. It tasted like grandmas soup! We then got a couple of appetizers to share - onion rings, fried calamari, and cheese rolls. - fried calamari- they were too heavy for my taste. They were small in size but there was a lot of the fried part. - onion rings- they were okay. Not a must get for sure! - cheese rolls - they were similar to the Turkish restaurant cheese rolls. The cheese was wrapped in a thin layer of dough. They have a good tea selection and serve Turkish tea. Serve wasn't bad. They charge $1 extra for each sauce that you ask for, but serve a red sauce with every dish that we ordered. The location is definitely great and they have a nice place to sit outside. Would like to try their burger next time. read more

I've been here 3 times. The first time we sat inside and food was great. The second time I got takeout and the burger wasn't bad. The third time we ate outside during the pandemic and I would not be coming back. It took about 40 minutes in between when we ordered and when the food came out. The burgers were mediocre at best, compared to the first two times that I visited. Definitely not worth the price. Only good thing is that the outdoor seating is nice and they space each table out well. read more
