After staying over a night at my job due to the freezing weather. Woke up starving, I checked Google for nearby restaurants that deliver and came across this family Mexican Restaurant. I checked there reviews on yelp and I was really impressed. So decided to give them a try. I called placed on order and this is what I got... Triple Decker Sandwiches. Grilled chicken W/ Crispy Bacon Lettuce & Tomato. Serve W/ French Fries. The order came out to $12. This place was 0.9 miles away from my destination and I was really surprised on how fast they got here. The presentation on the Sandwich looked great everything was cooked right and the fries were fresh. Also everything in the Sandwich from the lettuce to the bacon was freshly served. Decent price for breakfast in the neighborhood, NewKirk plaza, a little hard to find if u are not familiar with the area. The food is very decent, no complain, if u like some egg bacon toast and pancake, this is the spot. I have waffle with 2 sunny side up and bacon, very crispy bacon. I ordered from here as a last minute choice as I've had problems with their food before. I wanted something quick. I ordered the "chopped sirloin steak" which is essentially flavorless meatloaf with no salt or pepper. Spices are laughable. The "vegetables" are always frozen (from the bag). Fries are soggy. I also ordered spaghetti with meatballs and It was school lunch quality. The whole meal was actually school lunch quality and it pretty much went from their restaurant to the trash. Pablo's is a no frills local diner and neighborhood institution. It is family run, so everyone working here has an interest in seeing that you are happy. That said, service, while friendly, can be a little too laid back. Breakfast is their best meal. Good hot coffee and your standard eggs, omelets, pancakes and waffles. Lunches are not bad as well but some items are a bit overpriced. I only had dinner here once or twice. Portions were generous but the tomato sauce was bland. They have added some Mexican entrées since my last dinner visit. The owner is from Mexico, so I suspect they might be pretty good! Overall a 3.5. read more

Have no idea how I didn't know about this place for so long. Diner food doesn't sit well with me, but this little family owned place soothes my stomach and my soul. Don't know about the rest of the menu but I went with a breakfast meal and what can I say, the bacon is to die for - perfect chewiness and balanced crappiness delight. The spanish lady taking your orders is super sweet. Don't know if she speaks perfect English, but her motherly approach warmed my heart. Killer meal and sweet environment, don't let the dated storefront fool you. They don't take cards, but the prices definitely make it worth the extra hassle of grabbing cash. Food didn't taste that good. The pasta portion of my chicken parmigiana tasted bland. The waffles themselves were the worst waffles ever. They were dense and flavorless. No amount of syrup could've saved them. Service was great though, gotta give them credit for that. read more

Very good service. I eat at Pablo's at least twice a week. Nothing fancy, just the basics. I eat breakfast food every time. I have never tried their Mexican dishes. They have a large Mexican customer base so I assume that the Mexican food is good. read more

I really wanted to like this diner. I've been three times for lunch. It's small and clean, and the service is quick and nice. The first time, my turkey club sandwich was fine. However, my next two meals were awful. The "deluxe" burger tasted like cheap, school lunch quality meat, and in my next turkey club, the meat tasted old and cheap. I've never had dinner from this place. I've always just ordered breakfast. Their breakfast is awesome however the dinner does not share that same awesomeness. I ordered stew chicken rice and peas (the yellow rice with peas in it already) and plantain. I never got the plantain and they gave me white rice and beans. The chicken was very raw in the middle and still bleeding. I couldn't return the food because I had my mom order the food for me while I was at work. I got home pretty late that night. This restaurant needs better customer service... every time you call to dispute something it's always this one lady always so argumentative...... I never met a diner with such bad customer service. If I ask to speak with the manager they NEVER give me a manager... one time the guy never rang the doorbell only called & I wasn't Next to my phone & she said that's my fault. I asked why wouldn't he just ring the doorbell tho ? What you can expect: lots of Regulars cheap food medium to slow service speed. also like a lot of diners its cash only. Honestly, what sets this place apart is the ambience. But its not an ambience for everyone. Its a hole in the wall kind of place. They are not gonna spare a cent in decoration but thats its charm. I think there is only one smallish picture on the wall, which emphasizes how spartan the place is. I love listening to the wait staff chat with certain regulars in Spanish (I can only understand a word or two-I am high school level Spanish at best). Its a bit slow and there is no wifi or tv. Sometime simplicity can beat anything else. And this is what got me when I visited Pablo's restaurant for the first time (And not the last). When I was younger, I thought that the more complicated the food is, the more complicated the menu is, and the more serious the waiter is, the better is the food. But there are things that only time can teach, and today I know that when you wrap things with too many layers, you sometime miss the thing inside. I would rate the food 4.5, and the staff here the same rate. The place itself is small, and not as wide as you would expect a dinner to be (And when you combine it with good and definitely not overpriced food) you get a place where you can come when you just want to enjoy good old style food. Boni and I have been going to Pablo's diner for the past 13 years. Before we had our bikes we used to walk over for breakfast many mornings. Now that we are out and about in the neighborhood daily when out walking dogs, Pablo's is a great stop for us to meet up and have lunch. Still our favorite go to place for breakfast. Ordered pancakes with sausage. Over an hour later, they sent pancakes with bacon. I called to tell them about the mistake and the lady asked me if I had eaten it yet. I thought that was a weird question but I told her that I hadn't. About 10 minutes later the delivery person returns with the sausage. I'm thinking "wow that was pretty fast" especially since my initial order took so long. I'm about to close the door after he hands me the bag and he puts his foot out to stop the door, pulls out a brown paper bag and asks for the bacon back!! I was shocked. Came here with a group for a quick lunch. They are quick, efficient and really accommodating. Its a homey atmosphere-- family oriented. Three of us had the chicken quesadilla, which was amazing. It was nicely toasted, cheese melted to perfect proportions with a side of guacamole and lettuce. Oooh and that guacamole. *sigh* Delicious. One person had the BLT and could not stop raving about it. First of all, I am not from San Francisco. I don't know how that comes up. I live 6 blocks from Pablo's. I ordered breakfast on a Sunday. I know they are busy, so despite their 30 to 40 minute advertised time, I gave them 90 minutes to deliver. At the 2 hour mark I called to complain, then my bell rang and it was the delivery. Of course, it was ice cold. I could see the grease from the bacon and eggs had congealed into the side of the plate. Reheating is not an option, since that would ruin the food. So, like a previous review said, it went from the restaurant to the garbage. Waste of $14. I will NOT order from them ever again. read more
