Very expensive beer that is average at best. Lines are always long, even when it's not crowded due to the bartenders lack of urgency to serve. I paid $20 for a 4 pack of cans that tasted very bland. Small pours were $8. Go down the street to Kane or Icarus if you want good tasting beer. read more

I have visited on several occasions (traveling 2 hours in each direction), each time being more enjoyable than the last. Friendly staff, intelligent brewers and awesome atmosphere. I've seen a lot of negative reviews on pricing so I feel I must address. Prices are fair. You are being served a high quality beer created from scratch. All local ingredients, new original recipes with high alcohol volume. You wouldn't complain about a finely aged 5 oz glass of wine that costs $15, so why complain about a delicious, drinkable yet potent $7 pint of beer? Don't be ridiculous. As for the complaints about running out of beers, I've read enough. If a beer is sold out before you get to the front of the line, it tells me one thing... This place creates/serves some amazingly delicious beers! Next time get off your lazy butt and get to the brewery when it opens, like everyone else. Dog friendly, kid friendly, event friendly.. What else could you ask for? My only request is for canned beer to go..... OH WAIT, Source cans their beers in house! Bring the Source home with you. Went there over the weekend with some friends. Awesome seating out in the sun and they also had those umbrella shade things. I can't remember what exactly I got since I got hammered quickly. The Good Ribes stood out to me. I ordered a pizza from a truck in the parking lot to put something in my stomach. Pizza wasn't great but definitely coming back to Source! read more

The Beers were very good. It took a little long to get the beers out. The service was mediocre. We also had mixed direction with sitting down or standing up outside. Our server told us we could stand up. However a manager or owner maybe told us we had to sit down. If that's the case you should have seats suitable for fat people like myself. I would definitely need a paramedic to get me back up in the outside recliner. Thanks for providing great quality beers as always. read more

I can easily see how this can be a 5 star place. BUT, they were sold out of IPAs. Really?! They only has six beers on tap. The pilsner was good, but not good enough. No flights! If you want multiple 5 oz glasses you need to carry them all in your hands. Big problem if it's crowded and what if you want to go back for more. You need flight boards. Maybe the most expensive brewery I have ever visited. Great modern/airy space. Two floors, with the top being adults only. Friendly and helpful service. Almost empty, but it was around noon on a Tuesday. I expect great things, but expensive, no flights and get the IPAs flowing. read more

We made a reservation for outdoor seating during Covid. I think the reservations are for two hours which seems like a decent amount of time to hangout and grab a drink. It took at least 20 minutes after sitting down to have someone come take our order. We ended up only getting two drinks each within the time frame because the service was so slow. The setup outside is really nice and every group is distanced appropriately. Overall the beer and atmosphere was great, they just need more staff. read more

This brewery is in a great location, and they definitely built it well. The beers were very tasty. But if you're not a fan of sipping a beer with toddlers running around screaming I wouldn't recommend it. Didn't have an hour + to wait on line to even try the beer. Dogs and kids everywhere. Wasn't sure if I was at a brewery or a playground/dog park. What a serious let down. Lovely spot. Nice beer.....though they were out of a lot of choices an hour after opening??? The biggest turnoff was walking into a spot that seemed more like a day care center. I don't mind kids accompanying parents but when did breweries become a hangout for children. The upper level is a kid free zone but it's open and the noise from below was evident. Source Farmhouse Brewery is easily one of the best in the state. The brewery is a beautifully renovated dairy farm that looks like it's straight out of HGTV. Additionally, the location sharing Delicious Orchards and the Colts Neck Stillhouse is optimal. The beers that have been curates have been excellently executed. My favorites include the Source of Light a dry hopped pilsner and Source of Hoppiness, the New England IPA. On top of that, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. This is a must go to if you're in the Colts Neck area. read more

OK come on now people , we tried 2 different beers today ranging from ales to ipa and they all had the same 'hop' taste. It drove me crazy...All this hype and it wasn't even crowded but it felt crowded...Its a real shame its location too, placed right behind a another business, they have some games in side, no food local or close, no outdoor shade. Poor experience. I have been to many of the breweries in the state, and many beer "festivals". While this place has beautiful decor and atmosphere, the customer service and experience is pitiful. First, the line to get a beer is extremely long on a typical day. Part of the problem is they dont have a paper menu of the current beer list. You have to look at 2 very out of place TV's that show the current list, which is on a constant loop with other information, so make sure you stare at that instead of socializing with your friends, etc. The Saturday we visited i think only 5 beers were available. Pathetic. Secondly, this place does not offer flights.. Are you kidding me!?! A brewery that doesnt offer flights? I have never heard of such a thing. People dont go to a brewery to have a 32oz beer, you go to a brewery to sample as much as you can and see what they are about. Most breweries are pleased to speak about their beers and how they make them and what inspired them. This place puts you in a line and shuffles you out as quickly(or slowly) as possible. Lastly, they are not transparent.. They sell their beer by the half pour (dont do it, its barely a shot), full pour, or full mug, whatever they call it. Certain types of beer the full pour is in a smaller glass (yes i know this is not unusual, however every other establishment i have visited lists the size of the pour for each beer.) This place is run like a high end beer bar, not a brewery. And for only 5 beers on tap you better change your customer service. Not coming back read more

So, was extremely hyped when this place opened because it's only a town over from where my boyfriend lives, and this is the closest brewery we have! However, I went there Sunday for the first time and was a little disappointed. The space they have is huge and beautifully done, but the actual beer was less than exciting. First off, they only had 4 options when I was there, because the keg for the 5th had already kicked (and it was only 4 pm). For the long hours they are open (and 7 days a week) AND the amount of traffic they are getting, they cant be running out of beer like that!! It was extremely disappointing because of course the one beer I really really wanted was the one that kicked. The other beer I did have though was good! I'm definitely going to give this place another shot but I'm hoping they step up their game a little! read more

I ordered a few mugs/glasses as a birthday present, and when they arrived one was broken. I sent an email to the company and instantaneously I received an email from Tim Stilwell notifying me that he would ship out a replacement right away. A couple hours later, I received a follow up email from Tim to tell me that he was going to drive by my house later that evening and would drop off the replacement. I live about 45 minutes away from the brewery, so it was quite a hike. When Tim arrived with my replacement he also brought me a beer. This outstanding customer service is refreshing and I will recommend Source to all of my beer-loving friends and relatives. read more

This brewery excels at German style beers the Mertzon Oktoberfest was absolutely delicious they also do quite a few beers that aren't typical which is what makes this a unique gem in Monmouth County and most of it is very very fresh and by that I mean only days from brewing. Limited quantities sell out quickly. The atmosphere is definitely something that you could go for but you would want to stay for the beer because it is delicious so it's a nice combination. I dont post that often and definitely don't like posting negative reviews. This, however, is going to be pretty negative and hopfully its due to a lack of knowledge of the business but some of it is general customer service. So, lets begin at the drive into the parking lot.....the view is amazing, almost prestine in nature. An older building with the feel of an old barn located somewhere in the midwest surrounded by farms and well maintained. Just as soon as I can fully appreciate what I am looking at,"BEEP BEEP"!! Then I quickly realize theres not enough parking for this time of day....sunday afternoon. The turn around is god awful especially for someone with a full size truck. This does not get me down tho, I am thinking that this place must be good bc it is crowded. After about ten minutes a spot opens up and I park. Walking through the doors the place is packed. I am here to pick a growler or a 4 pack to go and be on my way. I walk over to the screen and read the descriptions of the beer which were excellent. Everything they have available that day sounded great and after a few minutes I was ready to order.The plan was to order something to go and then have one while I wait. I walk up to the bar, there are two younger women working behind. One is checking their phone and the other has her backed turned to the bar. She wasnt pouring a beer. So I figure I will turn around and see whats up with the patrons at this place. The first thing I notice is strollers. I would say that at least 8 places were taken by strollers. Not a bad thing but not my cup of tea. I do notice one couple with two younger children and they just got some beers. Its going on 5 minutes now and still no service. I raise my hand,a younger woman comes over to get my order. I asked her three questions about certain beers and she responds with giggly ignorance and basically says she has no idea. Then I ask about a growler. They dont have them except for certain days is what she said. Cans? "Sorry, dont do that either, except for preorders." Now in the mean time, that couple I noticed before is on their third beer, with little ones at their side. I walk out and leave. I proceed to check my phone for other breweries in the area that have stouts, to go. I notice that couple leaving with the kids and drive away. I am not sure exactly what the owners are going for in the place, but if they want to provide a place for young parents who like to drink and provide employees that know nothing about brewing or their product, then they nailed it. Walking out of the place I felt like this place was an imitation brewery. Just a place to grab the upper class money in the area that doesnt want to take the ride to a real brewery closer to the shore or ten minutes away.(i wont name drop but there are quite a few, much better breweries in the area) this little story was my first trip there. My second trip was even worse. And I noticed even more this time, people getting sloshed with kids and driving away. I know this new age brewery thing is taking hold of the area and its fine, but hire better employees thay are paying attention and actually know what their job is supposed to be. Maybe they could answer some questions about the brewing process or understand the difference between an IPA and a stout. Maybe it was a bad two visits and they were short handed but I guarsntee I will never step foot inside that faux brewery again. Sometimes the rich are clueless and maybe the owners found a nice niche where people just want to be seen in a cool brewery and spend money as opposed to actually appreciating a growing industry and understand whats important when you brew beer. Source was very accommodating for my wife and I bringing out baby with us on a pleasant cool afternoon. The outside COVID drinking experience was very pleasant, with a good view of the farmhouse look and well maintained lawn area. The service itself was great. The beer prices were fairly average for these days. $7-8 dollars for a full pour. The selection was slim and the beers themselves that I tried were a little lacking in the flavor department. The hefeweizen, a light beer by natural was almost watery. The saison was good but could've been better. Overall we still had a great experience and we would go back again and give the beers another go. read more

We went to Source last weekend and brought our baby along with us. Source has excellent social distancing in place. The hostess was very nice and sat us far away at these cool chairs. All other tables and chairs nearby were at least 6 feet apart. We felt very safe. The server was great and I really enjoyed the beer. It was a great day. You'll need to make reservations. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend Source if you're looking for a fun, social distancing friendly day out! read more

I went today (Friday afternoon at 3pm) with my girlfriend and a couple from out of state. While the place is beautiful we didn't feel welcomed. No greeting from staff, actually not even an acknowledgement. I noticed several fruit and sour beers on the black board. No real descriptions that I'm accustomed too at other breweries. I also didn't see any mention of flights. After waiting on line for with one person in front of me for 10 minutes we all nodded at each other and left. Great place to hang out with the whole family and your pup! There's a fenced in section outside for you to bring your dog with picnic tables, corn hole on the grass and heat lamps. Very modern and good vibes at this brewery. I'm not much of a beer drinker but it was good enough for me. Inside they have a fire place and there's also a roof top. read more
